I do Grin
I have noticed that MIL’s get a bad rep on MN...anyone got any positives about their other half’s mother...?

ExH's mum was fab. I had way more time for her than he did.

Current MIL is a mystery, we have been together for almost 8 years and I haven't met her. She lives 100 miles away.

Mine is lovely and I get on better with her than my own mum on many ways x

My in-laws are lovely people, and I trust them totally with DD. They really helped us when the first few months were rough going.

TheCatFromOuterSpace · 05/08/2018 21:18

Mine is really nice, she is a bit younger than my parents and in some ways I get on better with her as there is less of a generation gap.

TSSDNCOP · 05/08/2018 21:20

I like mine. She’s hard as rocks, but adores her grandchildren.

LogicMakesSense · 05/08/2018 21:20

My MIL is amazing, as soon as we walk in she offers me a glass of wine!

fantasmasgoria1 · 05/08/2018 21:46

I love mine! She refers to me as her daughter and I call her mum. My mum passed away 10 years ago so I feel comfortable calling her mum. She is an amazing woman!

Accountant222 · 05/08/2018 22:04

I loved mine, she died approx 25 years, wished she had not pandered to her son quite so much though.

My DIL hates me, but we are chalk and cheese, I can live with it.

FrowningFlamingo · 05/08/2018 22:04

Mine is lovely and very respectful of boundaries. To the point I often have to encourage her to get involved.
She also drives me totally nuts at times, of course! But so does my own DM Grin

QuinionsRainbow · 05/08/2018 22:51

She's passedon now, but my MIL was absolutely brilliant!

ethelfleda · 05/08/2018 22:57

Me! I love my MIL! She is a very interesting and classy lady.

newmumwithquestions · 05/08/2018 23:01

I like her. Like everyone she’s got bad as well as good points but she’s kind, adores her grandchildren and generally does a great job of walking that tightrope that is ‘supportive without being overbearing’.

Charliecatpaws · 05/08/2018 23:10

My MIL passed away 2 years ago, she was lovely and I was very lucky to have her in my life for 10 years

treaclesoda · 05/08/2018 23:11

I love my MIL. Although I don't always like her. But she is an adoring grandmother and that trumps everything else for me anyway.

ohdeardeardear · 05/08/2018 23:14

@Malala21 could you speak to your son first? A coffee sounds like a lovely idea. You sound lovely.
