To think it's not hot at all

Jkoakham · 26/07/2018 11:44

I'm here in a blanket in the south west in a 3 story Edwardian and it's cloudy.

I've felt other heatwaves but this one doesn't even register tbh

my mother in law in hospital due to heat stress and dehydration. Its a fucking walk in the park down here in the South East

IamPickleRick · 26/07/2018 13:15

It’s 33 here. Just outside London. Our house is cooler at the front but the back is sweltering and no shade in the garden till around 4.

It’s 31 in Kyrenia, Cyprus. But nooooo, not hot at all Confused

SillyLittleBiscuit · 26/07/2018 13:15

Teeny, tiny loft flat in zone 2. It's boiling.

IamPickleRick · 26/07/2018 13:17

Oh god biscuit, you poor thing. I used to work in a loft room off Oxford Circus. We had aircon but the stairs, seriously were hot to touch. You must be baking Sad

thisneverendingsummer · 26/07/2018 13:17

Yeah it's FREEZING. We have the heating on high here, and are wearing 5 layers of woollens. I think I just saw snow actually. May get the salt rock out of the garage soon.

PomegranateFairy · 26/07/2018 13:20

It's not unreasonable to think it's not hot at all, if you are in a place where it's not at all hot.

Rachelweasel · 26/07/2018 13:21

32 degrees here today. Fine at work because we have air con. My house stays at 29degrees ALL NIGHT. It's a new build and they're so well insulated. Great in winter, worst thing ever right now. Glad you're cool though...

zukiecat · 26/07/2018 13:23

It's 67 just now here in Aberdeen which is still very warm

I find anything of 70 and over is very very hot

I haven't really been out though to enjoy the hot weather, only difference is I am comfortable in the house with just my nightshirt on, rather than pjs and dressing gown

thisneverendingsummer · 26/07/2018 13:23

Congrats on the goadiest thread of the day OP.

TheLastNigel · 26/07/2018 13:24

Its 31 degrees in my (tiny with big window) office. I am so hot I can't see to type.

SillyLittleBiscuit · 26/07/2018 13:25

IamPickleRick So, so hot. I've not felt anything less than boiling since about May. Working from home today too. Appreciate the sympathy! Angry - not angry just HOT

Mymycherrypie · 26/07/2018 13:26

Even Alaska is 16 degrees today, where is the OP that is not hot at all. Over 18 I consider nice weather.

thisneverendingsummer · 26/07/2018 13:28

The fucking ARCTIC CIRCLE is on fire at the moment.

You have to be some seriously goady fucker to deny the heat is exceptional across the Northern Hemisphere right now.

Yes
YABU

It is hot, it is not just 'normal summer' for the UK or Japan etc
Look at this map for temps globally www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-44936622
Most of the landmass globally is warmer than usual.

soupforbrains · 26/07/2018 13:31

I am in a 60s redbrick office (with a new aircon system) and if anything it's a bit on the cold side at abou 19degrees.

Outside however it is 33 with no breeze at all.

OP I think you have just poorly phrased your original post and your subsequent responses. YANBU to think iot's not that hot, because as you have told us it's only around 17 degrees where you are currently. You ARE however being unreasonable to assume that because you have cool conditions nobody else in other conditions is allowed to think it's hot.

LeroyJenkins · 26/07/2018 13:31

What a strangely insular way of thinking. So, it's cool in your house therefore the prevailing temperature for everyone else who isn't in your house doesn't count or exist?

this - its bloody hot here

Jkoakham · 26/07/2018 13:32

The wildfires in Sweden don't really affect the temperature in Dorset Hmm

Anyhow actually taken the blanket off now. Warming up to a barmy 21 degrees. The floor and walls are like giant heat sinks though so as soon as the sun goes it will be cool again

thisneverendingsummer · 26/07/2018 13:33

@jkoakham Oh FFS give it a rest! You're getting ridiculous and boring now.

Jkoakham · 26/07/2018 13:33

My aibu is more about the weather warnings not to go outside and everyone acting as if it's 50 degrees. I've been to Dubai. That was hot. I've been to Madrid in the summer, that was hot. This is just warm persistent weather

OP posts:
thisneverendingsummer · 26/07/2018 13:33

And it's BALMY, not barmy! (Though your posts are barmy to be fair!)

thisneverendingsummer · 26/07/2018 13:34

Congratulations for having visited DUBAI.

Bully for you!

SoyDora · 26/07/2018 13:34

Ive lived in Madrid, yes it’s hot.
It’s also hot here, at the moment.

thisneverendingsummer · 26/07/2018 13:34

NEWSFLASH: NO-ONE GIVES A FUCK.

TopShagger · 26/07/2018 13:34

I'm organizing a coach following OP's invite for those who reckon it's perhaps a bit warm to go stay with her in her nice, cool, very large and expensive Edwardian property. There's plenty of room for ALL of us as she doesn't even use the top floor.

The solid marble flooring will be a treat to walk on as it always stays cool, the bidet pumps actual snow imported from Siberia instead of that common third rate watery stuff poor people use. We can help our selves to ice cream and chilled champagne and in the evening we'll take a leisurely stroll through the shady orchard whilst remarking how pleasantly cool we're feeling.

Then we'll go inside and observe on unnecessarily large TV all this twaddle about an imaginary heat wave causing misery to thousands of peasants. Tomorrow we'll do it all over again.

Who's in?

huggybear · 26/07/2018 13:35

It's 31 here and I could cry. It's horrible.
