To think it's not hot at all

I'm here in a blanket in the south west in a 3 story Edwardian and it's cloudy.

I've felt other heatwaves but this one doesn't even register tbh

@jkoakham You are clearly just on a wind-up, and I am not responding to any more of your stupid goady posts. Bore off.

siriously · 26/07/2018 13:35

Yeah. Much like there's no such thing as hunger or murder or homelessness, because I'm well fed, not dead and have a home.

What a colossally fucking stupid OP.

sonlypuppyfat · 26/07/2018 13:37

Have you looked at anywhere where there's grass?

SaltyPeanut · 26/07/2018 13:38

It's 28 degrees in my living room. I'm lying down with 3 fans pointed at me because I have got an itchy as hell heat rash all over my legs.

We are sleeping with the balcony door and windows wide open plus all the fans going.

It's hot where I am.

On a side note, purchased a new large sized desk fan from Argos and the thing is now 35 watts where the old model (still got it) was 40 watts. The new one is shite. You'd feel more breeze if a newborn farted on you from half a mile down the road.

IamPickleRick · 26/07/2018 13:40

Is Dubai always hot though, thoroughly prepared and adapted for hot weather, airconned to the max? It’s a desert, they had an inkling it would be hot when it was designed. When London was built, organically over hundreds of years, it was not a continuous 33 degrees. Where we are rainy and lucky to see 26+ in the summer.

ILoveMyDressingGown · 26/07/2018 13:41

I don't know what everyone is moaning about; 28.4°C in a north-facing room with the windows open and the fan blowing over ice-cold water isn't hot at all. Oh no. It's not so hot that it's incredibly difficult to sleep, if course not. Hmm

We're due thunder storms this aft and overnight. Fingers crossed they'll materialise abd actually work to bring the temperature down a few degrees.

😂

LilyMarie · 26/07/2018 13:42

Why does everyone in the Uk open their windows when it is hot? It is common knowledge that keeping your windows closed and curtains drawn during the day and then opening your windows at night will keep your house considerably cooler.

LittleLionMansMummy · 26/07/2018 13:42

Temps exceeding 30c for the best part of the past week where I am in the east. Very little rain for well over a month. Grass that resembles hay. It's fucking roasting. That said, if you avoid direct sun and switch all the fans on, it's bearable. You won't hear me complain, but I realise that the old and very young are particularly at risk. It rained briefly last Friday evening and I actually got excited about it ffs! Can't beat the smell of rain on hot earth. Lovely.

darklady64 · 26/07/2018 13:42

You do realise, don't you, OP, that feeling cold can be a sign of impending heat stroke. Just saying.

zen1 · 26/07/2018 13:42

Where I am, the Met Office have forecast 24° for midnight tonight. It’s 33+ here now. So, yes, it’s hot.

TopShagger · 26/07/2018 13:44

Dressing Gown - I like that alarm clock, where did you get it?

chillpizza · 26/07/2018 13:44

It’s 30.1 in the coldest room of my house. It’s definitely a little toasty.

0lgaDaPolga · 26/07/2018 13:44

Its 33 degrees where I am and will get up to 36 later. It is bloody hot. Doesn’t help that I am pregnant, in pain with a bad back and have an irritable, hot toddler to look after!

Ionlylookatthepictures · 26/07/2018 13:44

Well I’m in the SW and it’s fucking roasting here in my back garden Smile however I was by the coast earlier this week and it was much, much cooler. So much so that when we got home and stepped out of our air conditioned car it was like getting off a plane in a hot country 😄

Jkoakham · 26/07/2018 13:48

Marble floors I wish!! And it wasn't that expensive either, everyone wants new builds and didn't want to take it on as a project.

Gah most people are complaining it's too hot, aren't I allowed to say it's plesent and a bit chilly in mornings?

OP posts:
OctaviaOctober · 26/07/2018 13:48

What is it with people thinking their bit of the UK is all of the UK? My colleague had to leave early because her son's childcare is shutting early because of the heat. And I am counting the hours till I can get home for a cold shower and wait for the icecream van.

chillpizza · 26/07/2018 13:49

Although we are apparently due a storm today. I will believe it when I see it though.

TopShagger · 26/07/2018 13:51

OP - So you're not denying the snow blowing bidet or the orchard then?! ;)

Don't take me too seriously, I'm only taking the piss.

BUT IT IS HOT!

SoyDora · 26/07/2018 13:52

Gah most people are complaining it's too hot, aren't I allowed to say it's plesent and a bit chilly in mornings?

Of course you allowed to say that about where you are. Surely you can see that it’s unreasonable to say that about the entire country? It’s 21 degrees in your house. It’s 33 degrees in fine. Can you see the difference?

SoyDora · 26/07/2018 13:52

*in mine

LeroyJenkins · 26/07/2018 13:52

Gah most people are complaining it's too hot, aren't I allowed to say it's plesent and a bit chilly in mornings?
no - because your OP was sneering, and you continued in the same vein - again, it might not be hot where you are in your house, but lots of people in the UK (and beyond) are experiencing temperatures that are a lot hotter than we are used to, and because its unusual for the UK we're not set up for it, we dont have air con in our houses, we dont get to cool off like when you are on holiday by swimming

My aibu is more about the weather warnings not to go outside and everyone acting as if it's 50 degrees. I've been to Dubai. That was hot. I've been to Madrid in the summer, that was hot. This is just warm persistent weather

likeacrow · 26/07/2018 13:54

@LilyMarie genuinely didn't know that Blush Blinds and curtains shut but feels weird shutting windows in this heat!

lololove · 26/07/2018 13:54

It's 28 degrees in my living room and apparently 27 degrees outside. I live by the seaside too so it's supposed to be cooler here than everywhere else. I bloody hate it - sooner September/October come round for me the better!

Avonandice · 26/07/2018 13:55

Can I please come to yours with this birthday cake I am trying to make? The sugar roses are not hardening off, the butterflies are staying floppy and the buttercream filling is almost liquid. I need to have it finished today but I guess its going to be an all nighter.

On the upside the rainbow sponge looks fabulous.
