To think it's not hot at all

I'm here in a blanket in the south west in a 3 story Edwardian and it's cloudy.

I've felt other heatwaves but this one doesn't even register tbh

What a strangely insular way of thinking. So, it's cool in your house therefore the prevailing temperature for everyone else who isn't in your house doesn't count or exist? I guess by that reckoning no one there should be complaining when I'm in my office today in California where it will be fucking freezing around 15 to counter the outside temps between 32-37 we've had here the last few weeks. Enjoy my coolness everyone!

I'm not trying to one-up anyone there btw by saying it's hotter here, heat in summer here is just a fact of life and we're equipped to deal with it. It's completely different there because I know the misery of hot summers in the UK, the infrastructure just isn't designed to cope with extreme heat. I truly hope it breaks for you all soon.

TuesdaysAreGrim · 26/07/2018 12:54

Oh go away, it's 36 degrees in London today.

AimlesslyPurposeful · 26/07/2018 12:55

TakemedowntoPotatoCity “You're right, it's only 31 here today. Better get out the scarves and gloves.”

Good idea. I’m surprised the annual ‘Have you put the heating on yet?’ thread isn’t on active convos today.

Mof3K · 26/07/2018 12:56

I think the heat is clearly affecting some people!

But I thought there wasn't any heat?Hmm
Seriously your post is goady and show offy. In a post about weather you've somehow thrown in that you live in a 3 storey Edwardian house where the top floor hasn't been used for ages...yawn.
Hmm
It is HOT. It's unprecedented heat. Have a look on the met office website. It's everywhere. The heat is global.
Maybe you should try getting out of both your blanket and your bubble!

likeacrow · 26/07/2018 12:58

It's hot in Yorkshire. I'm a sweaty mess.

SoyDora · 26/07/2018 12:58

So because it’s not hot in our house it’s not hot anywhere? Grin.
32 here (not London). Has been similar temperatures for weeks. Our house is boiling (thermometer in DC’s room currently on 33).
But it’s ok, because you’re cold in your house Smile

UpstartCrow · 26/07/2018 12:59

I think this is a secret lifestyle thread. OP wanted to let everyone know where they live, as its so much better than where we all live.

ChipsAndKetchup · 26/07/2018 12:59

I'm in Essex. It's 750 degrees here.

Do I win?

likeacrow · 26/07/2018 13:00

@thatmustbenigelwiththebrie

Not hot in Yorkshire?! It's freaking boiling and I'd like to repeat: I am a sweaty mess.

AimlesslyPurposeful · 26/07/2018 13:00

“Trust me my house no one would want. It's beautiful and stunning but the matainance and bills are eye watering!

I really should rent out the top floor, it's not been used for ages and very pleasant temp wise if not in need of a bit of work.”

OP : You clearly just want to tell us all what a large and costly to run and maintain home you live in so why didn’t you start a thread about that instead of this nonsense?

Notonthestairs · 26/07/2018 13:00

If you go on the BBC weather app (other weather apps are available) you can do searches as to the temperature in other places - that might reveal that other parts of the country are cooler than you (in so many ways) and some are hotter. that way you will be able to tell that the weather isn't the same across the whole country and isn't specific to your location or dependant on how stunning your house is.

Grilledaubergines · 26/07/2018 13:00

Surely the weather news is south east centric because it’s remarkable. If Birmingham was much hotter than the rest of the country, that would be the focus.

Zipadeedoodah2 · 26/07/2018 13:02

What a ridiculous post. So it's not hot with you therefore it's not hot anywhere else Hmm. Bloody hot here in the Berkshire. I'm sure it's much more pleasant in other parts of the uk but for me it's fucking hot!!

Zipadeedoodah2 · 26/07/2018 13:03

Notonthestairs GrinGrinGrin

GabsAlot · 26/07/2018 13:04

can i come and live with you then op its 32 degrees here no breeze

and thereis a amber warning alert not to go out in the sun for too long so it is manic

Dungeondragon15 · 26/07/2018 13:04

I don't think that any single day has been particularly hot and there are usually similar temperatures for a couple of days at least each summer. It is the length of time at high temperatures and lack of rain that have made this summer different than any other summer I can remember apart from perhaps 1976.

Sallycinnamum · 26/07/2018 13:05

It's 35 fucking degrees here in central London. Tha not hot enough for you OP?

sweatingcobs · 26/07/2018 13:06

30 degrees in the bedroom, lucky if it drops to 25 through the night. Can't get the house any cooler.
Can we come stay with you OP?

RedneckStumpy · 26/07/2018 13:06

Where I am it’s been 35 for the last 8 weeks and we have another 4 before it cools down

I love it, I am making the most of it as by Christmas it will be -10

Liffydee · 26/07/2018 13:06

I’m in Suffolk and it’s insanely hot. I don’t know the temperature but easily as hot as Turkey when I was there. We have had no rain in 50 days, it’s very uncomfortable.

MrsFezziwig · 26/07/2018 13:08

TheShapeOfYou I come to Edinburgh every summer. In some ways I am praying that the good weather lasts as it will be so lovely to make the most of life outside, but on the other hand being inside will be hell as (quite reasonably) I don’t think aircon is that common a requirement in Scotland Grin

donquixotedelamancha · 26/07/2018 13:08

I’m from Queensland.

So it is the southerners who are wimping out about the heat. That must be the origin of the phrase 'whinging Aussies' then.

Jkoakham · 26/07/2018 13:09

I don't think that any single day has been particularly hot and there are usually similar temperatures for a couple of days at least each summer.

Thanks, exactly that is what I'm meaning.

Yep sure come live with me long as you help with some odd jobs ;)

HarshingMyMellow · 26/07/2018 13:10

33 outside, 36 in my bedroom.

Far too hot for a house in the UK which is not equipped to deal with these temperatures.

GhoulWithADragonTattoo · 26/07/2018 13:13

My living room and kitchen are both a pleasant temperature too. It’s bloody hot though. Over 30 degrees in SE. It is a relief to have somewhere cool to go through.
