To think it's not hot at all

I'm here in a blanket in the south west in a 3 story Edwardian and it's cloudy.

I've felt other heatwaves but this one doesn't even register tbh

I feel like I live in a greenhouse our bedroom is 34 overnight (we have a baby so we have a temperature gauge) - old house cold in winter ho in summer. Pretty unbearable at night

MrsST · 27/07/2018 17:57

South manchester and it's been 31-32 all day, it is too hot. I'm irritable, sweaty and down right fucking miserable. My grass in my garden resembles hay. We've barely seen a drop of rain in about 2 months. I got excited the other week because I heard it pattering on my conservatory roof, by the time I'd stripped off to enjoy the rain it had bloody stopped!

Louloup20 · 27/07/2018 17:58

This is a bit of an annoying post...Just because it is not affecting you does not mean that it is not hot for others. I am 20 weeks pregnant so even though it is cooler at night I am still struggling with the heat. It was still 26 in our bedroom at 11pm last night. I totally agree that we should be able to deal with it as places like Australia do, however most of their houses have air-conditioning so they can stay comfortable in their own homes. I for one would love a thunderstorm to break up some of the humidity :)

BunsyGirl · 27/07/2018 18:00

And yesterday we were told that we couldn’t even wear sandals for dress down day never mind a normal day at work. My feet are so swollen and covered in blisters from the heat so they desperately need some air!

ResurrectedGoldfish · 27/07/2018 18:05

WTAF are you talking about??? Am in Scotland and it’s fucking roasting here. 7 months pregnant, feeling like a sweaty manatee, I do not need to be told that it’s been ‘pleasantly warm’ for a few days. Off you fuck.

cricketmum84 · 27/07/2018 18:05

YABU. It's HOT.

26.7 in my living room and all the fan does is swirl the hot air around.
To quite blackadder I am stickier than sticky the stick insect stuck to a sticky bun.

How I long to be cold!! Cold rules! At least when it's cold you can layer up. When it's hot like this there's only so many layers you can remove before someone asks you to leave...

Damn you met office for promising me a storm and cooler temps! 5 mins of rain last night and back to 31 today.

21stCenturyMrsBennett · 27/07/2018 18:06

Bleedin freezing, and raining as well
.

MrBennOfFestiveRoad · 27/07/2018 18:06

It was 35.5 degrees driving home in my car today. I’m sitting at home on front of a fan now Smile

Yohoandabottleofwine · 27/07/2018 18:07

Do you have an air conditioning unit?

North east England near the coast 26 degrees ☀️ hot hot hot

KittyHugs · 27/07/2018 18:10

Last week it was 34 here but wasn't classed as a heatwave because we are not in the south east. Now it has hit the SE there are suddenly reports of a heatwave and warnings etc.
If it doesn't affect London then it does not count.

GerardButlersBird · 27/07/2018 18:14

Why do some people have to take an obvious truth (ie “it is hot in the UK at the moment) and create a post to the contrary.

You are not feeling hot OP. Whoopy do. Most of the rest of us are. My office felt like the sixth circle of hell. But it’s a great deal worse for our disabled clients elsewhere in the same building who can’t take efforts to keep themselves a bit cooler and are completely reliant on others.

Just think yourself lucky and stop being so pointlessly contrary for the sake of it Hmm

TovaGoldCoin · 27/07/2018 18:14

I've been on holiday in the southwes6dor the last fortnight. Its been pleasantly warm, with forays into phew its hot. Home to the Midlands and its bloody unbearably hot. I have RA and Ehlers Danlos syndrome, and my joints are so inflamed I am in crutches. So yeah, depending on where you live, yes it is, or no it isn't.

Clearaschristal · 27/07/2018 18:15

35c here in London. My bedroom is 32. Has been for weeks and no rain. Everything's brown outside and pets are wilting!!

ROSCO80 · 27/07/2018 18:15

We were woken up by you gets last night and the themostat was still registering 28 degrees at 1.30 in the morning with windows open. Don't mind the hot days but would like it a little cooler at night so that we can all get some sleep.

HollyWollyDooDah · 27/07/2018 18:17

Can’t remember when It wasn’t below 28, night it’s only getting down to about 16

It is very hot, especially when you’re outside most of the day.

Having said that it’s come over really dark and the wind is up with a few rumbles of thunder so maybe it’ll cool down a bit
The rain has just started - first for something like 50 odd days - hopefully it’ll be a decent rain and wet the ground - god knows we need it!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 27/07/2018 18:17

It actually reached 37 here today, damn it was hot, but just heard thunder and it’s immediately started to rain. Sincerely hope it cools us down and freshens things a bit.

Takingshape12 · 27/07/2018 18:18

Westcountry here and it's been between 25 and 30 for weeks now - it's not just a couple of days of heat! You are surely taking the piss. The fact is this country isn't equipped for it. No air con in most homes and businesses. Are you that stuck up your own arse that you can't see the bigger picture?

Abetes · 27/07/2018 18:20

I’m sweltering. Temp is the house is 27 degrees in the basement kitchen which is normally cool and 31 degrees upstairs.

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 27/07/2018 18:30

That went well, 90-120 seconds of rain. Come baaaaaack.

LabradorMama · 27/07/2018 18:31

It’s 30 degrees plus here and has been over 25 for weeks.

missbloomsbury · 27/07/2018 18:33

Oooh! Doesn’t the hot weather make us all fractious!! Judging from these posts, you can tell where the hot spots are! Here up on the hills of the South West it’s been fantastic! Never more that 28/29C with a light breeze.. so no complaints here and today positively cool. We’ve had the electric fan on at night and slept really well. I used to live in London & remember temps of 35 or so. Glad to be away from it!

WhatThePuck · 27/07/2018 18:43

Is this some kind of competition?!!!

Yes we are a relatively small island but there will be different areas where it won’t be as hot/cold as others? This is hardly breaking news!!! Confused

angelfacecuti75 · 27/07/2018 18:43

In Kent it's been 29 to 30 degrees the highest day was 33 degrees . Just depends on where you are x

Fifilafrog · 27/07/2018 18:46

36 outside, 27 inside in Essex. I’d say it’s hot tbh. It I’m not complaining! 😎

Jayfee · 27/07/2018 18:51

London 35 degrees yesterday, hotter today.
