Who's watching?
I love George.

OP posts:
KwatahPanda · 25/07/2018 23:18

You just have to read/watch/listen to their work and appreciate it in isolation from the person that you have read about. And FWIW I absolutely loved BG's voice.

OH also the point of this thread is literally to talk about how much the Op and other posters love Boy George. Not even his music, him.

Do you not think it maybe warrants the odd mention of his background?

BeefyCakes · 25/07/2018 23:26

He's a convicted sex offender. I really don't know how anyone can say that they rate him at all.

He chained a man to a bed a whipped him with a chain. It wasn't consensual and he received a prison sentence for it.

I don't understand the BBC at all for allowing him on there.

AliasGrape · 25/07/2018 23:31

I wonder if there’d be so much love if it was a woman he’d falsely imprisoned and beaten? Would being of Celtic descent and having been alive in the 80s mean that was ok too?

What a strange thread!

^I agree. What a bizarre thread celebrating a convicted sex offender.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/07/2018 23:32

he is a pretty disgusting specimen of humanity, IMO.

And what was so special about Culture Club anyway? Some OK pop tunes, a boy wearing make up..hardly groundbreaking stuff was it?

Antigonads · 25/07/2018 23:35

His link to the IRA chap was pretty tenuous. Hardly a blood relative.

His grandma getting picked up for 'wandering' was shocking though.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 25/07/2018 23:36

Unfortunately Alias, he probably would.

See John Lennon, Iggy Pop, David Bowie, Bill Wyman, Elvis, R kelly, Steven Tyler....

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2018 23:37

I wonder how many celebrities they research for the show and find nothing of any interest regarding their ancestors?

AdoraBell · 25/07/2018 23:39

Will watch tomorrow, should have some time then.

This x 1000
he is a scumbag and a violent sex offender
I’m shocked he was allowed back on to the BBC on the voice.

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/07/2018 23:46

there is something seriously scummy about him tbh.

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 25/07/2018 23:49

If you go back far enough you have thousands of people to research, it wold be impossible to not find something half way interesting.

The Danny Dyer one was hilarious.

Sparklingbrook · 25/07/2018 23:53

Apparently Michael Parkinson was too dull. They researched for 6 weeks but found nothing.

Eliza9917 · 25/07/2018 23:56

What's WDYTTA or whatever it is?

MeltingPregnantLady · 25/07/2018 23:59

Matthew pinsent was good he was descended from God...

Alexander Armstrong another interesting one as was Graham Norton

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 25/07/2018 23:59

it's a TV show called 'who do you think you are' where they dig into your family background and find out that your grandfather picked up dog shit for a living and your great grandmother ran away with the stable boy. that kind of thing.

elephantoverthehill · 25/07/2018 23:59

Eliza Who Do You Think You Are? BBC 1 9.00pm Wednesdays

throwawayagain · 26/07/2018 00:00

I met him at a party.
My ex was rather upset by his attitude. He was a known DJ, and I understood his feelings.
He seemed nice enough.

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2018 00:00

Jeremy Clarkson's was really interesting. Another MN 'favourite'. Grin

IDontEatFriedTurtle · 26/07/2018 00:03

That Jeremy Clarkson is a twat isn't really up for debate, but at least he's not a known sex offender and twat.

Sparklingbrook · 26/07/2018 00:03

It's all ok because JC hasn't been allowed back on the BBC. Grin

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 26/07/2018 00:04

yes Clarkson is a better class of twat altogether..

BitOutOfPractice · 26/07/2018 00:05

Less keen on him since he was found guilty of a pretty vicious violent crime.

ConkerTriumphant · 26/07/2018 00:12

His autobiography, Take It Like A Man , is one of the best I’ve ever read.

EachandEveryone · 26/07/2018 00:26

I agree i loved it too.

Does anyone know why he never seemed to like my George M? Even after he died he never really said anything. Poor George.

Has Paul O'Grady been on this show? I adored his books.
