Well considering only like 4% of rapes get prosecuted I guess all the women who were raped, were raped by "not rapists"? Confused

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2018 14:16

Whereas falsely imprisoning someone and assaulting them, you kind of deliberately set out to do.

I don't know. Does it say in the coverage anywhere that it was premeditated? I thought it was to do with some photos that were taken beforehand?

I don't know. Does it say in the coverage anywhere that it was premeditated?

Considering the money he had to spend on expert criminal barristers, the Judge, the experienced professional who reviewed all the evidence and mitigations before sentencing still thought the opposite:

Judge Radford said: "Whilst I accept that Mr Carlsen's physical injuries were not serious or permanent, in my view there can be no doubt that your premeditated callous and humiliating handcuffing and detention of Mr Carlsen shocked, degraded and traumatised him."

"He was deprived of his liberty and human dignity without warning or proper explanation to him of its purpose, length or purported justification."

Struggling to see this is someone who should be mentoring young and desperate-to-succeed singers.

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2018 14:39

The BBC made that choice I guess. As I said there was uproar on here over it at the time.

The people that auditioned had the choice of 4 judges that they knew of beforehand so were able to choose somebody else if they didn't want BG.

He's no longer doing The Voice UK.

You only have to look on this thread to see people ignoring, justifying or just not knowing about his past to see why him being a judge that will mentor people is not a good idea.

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2018 15:34

If I was going on The Voice (never going to happen) I would be doing my research.
Did all the people mentored by him come out of it ok?

ShirleyPhallus · 27/07/2018 17:11

You are fucking kidding me. So the onus is on the contestants of tv shows to do their research on whether the presenters / coaches / mentors have criminal pasts?! Why isn’t the onus on the producers NOT to have them on their in the first place.

That’s quite some spectacular victim blaming I grant you.

Can we apply this to all victims of crime?

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2018 17:21

Were the contestants that Boy George mentored victims of anything?

ShirleyPhallus · 27/07/2018 18:12

Oh I see.... because he didn’t specifically beat up any contestants he’s a good guy

Great

Sparklingbrook · 27/07/2018 18:20

That's not what I said.

With the information that you have and the consensus amongst his fans that he has learnt his lesson and is an alright guy.

Would you be happy for him to teach your children in a school setting as the only adult in the room?

Queenofthedrivensnow · 28/07/2018 12:16

BG used to attend a dinner in London once a year for children with special needs. He was very good with them but not as good as Fergie who was the best. He still went though.

I think the 70's and 80's were a great time for music and talent you didn't need to be perfect and magazine approved. You could be whoever you wanted to be as long as you were entertaining and original it was amazing. Pop is so dull now

derxa · 28/07/2018 12:24

Would you be happy for him to teach your children in a school setting as the only adult in the room? It wouldn't happen because of safe guarding. Yes I would. What on earth would happen? He's not a paedophile.

He's not a paedophile.

I never said that he was, he is however someone with anger issues and a history of violence.

derxa · 28/07/2018 15:15

he is however someone with anger issues and a history of violence. and an ex drug addict and as such probably wouldn't be invited into schools. Who knows. But I don't think school kids are in any danger from assault.

Lol at people complaining about someone coming across as a narcissist on Who Do You Think You Are? That’s the whole point of the programme!

I enjoyed it.

For those who enjoy WDYTYA, the Australian episode with John Jarratt (crazy killer from Wolf Creek) is very good and interesting, it's on YouTube.

longwayoff · 28/07/2018 17:38

Anyone see the Boris one? Cant abide the bloke, please god he's never prime minister, but fascinating family history.
