To think that anyone who still believes in a positive Brexit scenario is nuts?

I feel v anxious about where our shit shower of a government is leading us. I live in a city which is very pro-Remain (although my dad isn't) but I find it very hard to believe that most Brexiters aren't concerned about how negotiations are going.

Or is this just me, in my bubble?

This is actually hilarious. Brexit as a weight loss method and a time machine.
I'm certainly convinced!

Fenwickdream · 18/07/2018 14:57

Because your making out these things are terrible outcomes but I disagree. I don’t like the constant march towards more , more , more! I’d be happy to go back a few decades because I think we’re going totally the wrong fucking way. I think remainers are spoilt and entitled.

You might want a simpler, healthier lifestyle but I guarantee you that's not what we'll get.

bellinisurge · 18/07/2018 14:58

@Fenwickdream - and you know everyone do you? You voted Leave to punish everyone? Are you ok?

Fenwickdream · 18/07/2018 14:59

I don’t NEED to stop spending so much money on food but I COULD stop spending so much money on food.

bf1000 · 18/07/2018 14:59

So food is going to more expensive with bare shelves whilst also putting British farmers out of buisness due to the flood of crap non safe and cheap imports.

Can you not see that both statements can not be true. This is the problem how can we trust that things will be worse when they can't even get an consistent worse case. Is it not possible that it will be some where in between , slihhtly less food, marginally more expensive but not doomsday end of the world

LoveInTokyo · 18/07/2018 15:00

Fenwick, I'm sorry, I know that leavers really don't like being called thick, and that it's ultimately not very constructive because it tends to make people even more entrenched in their views, but Jesus H Christ, when people like you come out with this shit, it makes remainers like me feel entirely vindicated when we say that Brexit was a terrible idea voted for by idiots who had absolutely no clue about the consequences of leaving the EU and should never have been trusted with such an important decision.

bellinisurge · 18/07/2018 15:00

@Fenwickdream when was your ideal decade, then. I'm very old, I've seen most of the post war ones first time around. And my parents saw most of the first part of this century. And my grandparents etc etc.

Quietrebel · 18/07/2018 15:01

They are not mutually exclusive: good food and locally produced will be scarce and expensive, crap cheap sludge available. We won't starve per se but our quality of life will be that much worse.

bellinisurge · 18/07/2018 15:01

Oops showing my age Grin last century, not this century.

LoveInTokyo · 18/07/2018 15:04

In the short term, food will be more expensive because (1) there will be tariffs where there did not used to be tariffs, and (2) the weakening of the pound makes all imported goods more expensive.

In the longer term we could end up with cheaper food once we have done some trade deals (or if we decide to unilaterally abolish import tariffs). However, the price of doing those kind of trade deals will inevitably mean letting cheaper and lower quality food come in from bigger countries (such as the US), flooding the market and making British producers unable to compete.

So yes, it can be both.

Winterbella · 18/07/2018 15:04

Brexit is a disaster, you were all told and you all decided to believe the lies so......................

Fenwickdream · 18/07/2018 15:05

No I didn’t vote Brexit for that and you know I didn’t but you have no other argument than your stupid scaremongering stories. Which even I, a single Mum in a low paid job am not phased by because I am proving to you how I will live through those scenarios and how even things that you may perceive as terrible may not be a bad thing over all for the general population of Britain.

JacquesHammer · 18/07/2018 15:06

Oh good, yet another poster without the wit to understand "remainer" isn't a catch all for a homogenous mass of people.

JuliaSevern · 18/07/2018 15:09

People who bang on about meanie remoaners and then claim to have voted Remain are not fooling anyone. I don't blame people for being too embarrassed to admit to voting leave though.

bellinisurge · 18/07/2018 15:12

If you are a single mum in a low paid job, how are you affording to eat out and run broadband accounts etc?
If you persist in making personal remarks about how people who disagree with you are lazy and overweight, you seem to be inviting questions about your situation.

LoveInTokyo · 18/07/2018 15:12

No I didn’t vote Brexit for that and you know I didn’t but you have no other argument than your stupid scaremongering stories.

Are they "scaremongering stories" or are they things that you believe could actually happen? Because right now your argument seems to be that yes, things probably will turn to shit, but it'll be fine because it'll make us more resourceful, and you can cut down on your spending in Lidl and just eat a bit less and be thinner fine.

It's a bit rich to say that we have no argument, when our argument is literally that these bad things are going to happen unless we have a rethink and your response is that we'll survive and we could all do with going on a diet anyway.

Are you actually trolling? Do you have any idea how stupid you sound?

Which even I, a single Mum in a low paid job am not phased by because I am proving to you how I will live through those scenarios and how even things that you may perceive as terrible may not be a bad thing over all for the general population of Britain.

WHY DO YOU WANT TO LIVE THROUGH THESE SCENARIOS?

Where is the upside?

You don't seem capable of articulating what the actual fucking point of all of this is.

Fenwickdream · 18/07/2018 15:20

Quite easily! I worked my ass off to get a mortgage. I’m not stupid with my money and have no other debts. I live quite frugally in terms of consumerism. I do a lot of hours and nights shifts. (I only claim child benefit) so basically the answer to your question is hard work.

bellinisurge · 18/07/2018 15:21

@Fenwickdream I'm a prepper. I have my own veg garden, I preserve food for rainy days. I can collect water, I know how to make a fire and cook on it. I have stuff to keep us warm and to light our home. I really hope I never have to use my various back up stuff (apart from the veg in my garden- that's delicious!) I don't want To make do if I don't have to. I lived and worked in another country that had rubbish food supply and half the food on rations. It was shit.
It doesn't make better people. It makes everyone miserable and small minded with narrow horizons. I don't want that for my kids.
I hope we have a small hiccup here at worst.

I don’t recall saying people who disagree with me are lazy and overweight. I said most of the Country is lazy and overweight.

bellinisurge · 18/07/2018 15:26

@Fenwickdream - if most of the country is, as you say, lazy and overweight, why do we need Brexit to fix that. And who are these "most people ". Some are. Most aren't.

JacquesHammer · 18/07/2018 15:28

I said most of the Country is lazy and overweight

What are you basing "most" on...?

Fenwickdream · 18/07/2018 15:45

WHY DO YOU WANT TO LIVE THROUGH THESE SCENARIOS?

I don’t, I never said I did, I said I could.

I deliberately dropped in that I was a single Mum and carer because I knew that even though most of you don’t have the balls to say it I’m pretty sure you sat there all smug with your theories that leavers are thick or not as good as you.

Ironically I voted leave because I too don’t WANT to live through harder economic times. I believe that the Euro will collapse and that economic fall out from that would be bigger than anybody can perceive and will take decades to climb out of. I believe this from a collaboration of things I’ve read, watched, spoken with others about. Exactly the same way you have come to your conclusions about Brexit. Although I’m not “thick” enough to think I’m GOD and can see into the future so I don’t ram this belief down other people’s throats. No Brexiter, Remainer, or any human being can see into the future. Your beliefs are made from a bundle of things that other people said or wrote. Some appealed to you, some didn’t.

So fuck off with your judgements about what will happen in the future are better than mine. Non of us know shit. We’re all just hoping we got it right. However I’m made of strong stuff and what makes me happy is my family and friends so I will live through all scenarios.
