To think that anyone who still believes in a positive Brexit scenario is nuts?

I feel v anxious about where our shit shower of a government is leading us. I live in a city which is very pro-Remain (although my dad isn't) but I find it very hard to believe that most Brexiters aren't concerned about how negotiations are going.

Or is this just me, in my bubble?

Or maybe BMW, you could just not click on threads that have Brexit in the title if you are not interested? AIBU is full of threads that could go in other topics. There's no reason that some threads relating to the biggest national crisis in decades shouldn't go here too.

Danniz · 17/07/2018 22:58

YANBU. And you are posting in the right place. Our country is completely fucked. Those of you who voted Leave : your children will hate and despise you for contributing to this.

Maryzsnewaccount · 17/07/2018 23:00

Who died and made BMW the thread police?

Have they solved the border issue yet?

I've given up reading the news about it as the English papers seem to be struggling with reporting actual facts these days (though I do sympathise, it must be hard to report on what the government is doing when the government doesn't know what it's doing).

CambridgeAnaglypta · 17/07/2018 23:00

BMW Well said.

HollowTalk · 17/07/2018 23:06

I'm with you, OP. It's like watching our country commit suicide.

Leesa65 · 17/07/2018 23:11

My 20 something children won't hate me .. They amazingly voted Leave as well .

How dramatic are you Danniz

Takeittotheboss · 17/07/2018 23:11

Absolutely Hollowtalk.

InspectorIkmen · 17/07/2018 23:25

YANBU at all OP. Ignore the snarkmeisters here - but also pity them.

God knows where it's all going to end but on current performance nowhere good

Ethylred · 17/07/2018 23:45

Brexit is brain damage.
Yes it is that idiotic. Read foreign newspapers to see what others think.

Fridaygap · 17/07/2018 23:53

Is there a parking topic for all the over excited diagram makers?

Aibu is full of all sorts.

I see the OBR said there would be no Brexit dividend, in fact tax receipts would be hit by lower economic growth.

That's fewer children's centres, fewer nurses and doctors, longer waiting lists, more cancer appointment "cancellations" to manage the stats. That's less support than the pitiful levels for children with special needs. It's more potholes. Less social care.

It's the fabric of your lives and your children's lives, and you don't want people to talk about it on Aibu, but it's OK to go on endlessly about mothers in law?

Righto.

“I voted leave because I want this country to be like it was when I was younger.”

You do realise that leaving the EU won’t actually turn back time, don’t you?

sonlypuppyfat · 18/07/2018 00:16

It would be a dream come true if it did

LoveInTokyo · 18/07/2018 00:18

But it obviously won’t. What a daft thing to say.

Fridaygap · 18/07/2018 00:20

Voting leave isn't going to stop immigration.

From the ONS, 2 days ago:
In 2017, non-EU net migration (+227,000) was twice the level of EU net migration (+101,000) (Figure 3).

The EU rules had nothing to do with that non EU number. That's entirely in the remit of the UK govt.

Fridaygap · 18/07/2018 00:25

Reporting my post? Why?

safariboot · 18/07/2018 00:26

Well, I reckon a fair percentage of leave voters think no deal would be a positive scenario.

LoveInTokyo · 18/07/2018 00:28

“Well, I reckon a fair percentage of leave voters think no deal would be a positive scenario.”

Those people are utterly clueless and absolutely not competent to make that sort of decision.

Lalliella · 18/07/2018 00:29

YANBU. 25 months after the referendum and we are no closer to knowing what Brexit will mean. So people voting Leave didn’t know what they were voting for. So when the final deal (or no deal) and the implications are known the government should go back to the country for an informed and honest referendum (i.e. the exact opposite of what we had before).

Why are Leavers against a second referendum? If they’re so sure they’re right, surely they’d win again? Or are they worried about the truth? And so concerned about promoting their xenophobic, little island agenda that they don’t care that Brexit could well turn out to be economic suicide.

Biber · 18/07/2018 07:15

Not nuts, but being very selective about where they look for information.

When the Royal College Of Midwives, the Royal College Of Nursing, the British Medical Association are warning of the danger to the NHS and backing the vote on the final deal, when DEFRA say they expect 25% of our small farms not to survive should we not care? Not be blinded by those who lied and cheated so as to avoid the EU tax evasion laws? So they could dump the EU laws that are really the laws that protect our rights, the environment, animal welfare and food quality?

We have been conned.

People who voted leave don't want another vote because they won. You don't keep playing football or tennis until the loser wins

placemats · 18/07/2018 07:41

Dairy products may become luxury items post Brexit.

www.theguardian.com/politics/2018/jul/18/dairy-products-may-become-luxuries-after-uk-leaves-eu

From the link:

Ash Amirahmadi, the UK managing director of Arla Foods, said: “Our dependence on imported dairy products means that disruption to the supply chain will have a big impact. Most likely we would see shortages of products and a sharp rise in prices, turning everyday staples like butter, yoghurts, cheese and infant formula, into occasional luxuries. Speciality cheeses, where there are currently limited options for production, may become very scarce.”

sonly Losing a football match, or a tennis match, or a cricket match doesn't mean hundreds of thousand of people losing their jobs as a consequence.
