To be topless around the kids pool?

Backstory...

On holiday at an all inclusive hotel with kids club etc. Got some tan lines from my bikini so this afternoon took the bikini top off to try and sort them out. DH comes over and says it is inappropriate near the kids pool. I said that he had his top off so why couldn’t I. He said because I was female.

I didn’t put the bikini top back on but is it inappropriate? It’s just boobs?

Oh, ffs! There is absolutely nothing inappropriate about children being exposed to boobs in a non-sexual context. I would have no problem with my Dd seeing topless women in this context; on the contrary, I think it’s agood thing.
Being exposed to pervy prudes with body hang-ups however is quite another story...

my parents live in France and we have spent a lot of time there. At the beach and the communal pool probably half the women are topless - I would say that many more were topless when I was a child. Maybe Spain is different but no kid I grew up with on holiday in France batted an eyelid.

ZenNudist · 17/07/2018 20:55

More info needed. Were there any other topless sunbathers? I think boobs away in a hotel but out on the beach if you like.

YorkiepudNgravy · 17/07/2018 20:58

I hate all this attention seeking lark, someone being comfortable in their skin isn’t seeking attention.

I guess some people would be offended, either because they’ve forgotten that boobs are there to feed. Or they’re worried their husbands will enjoy the view t much

Galaxyteal · 17/07/2018 21:06

There just boobs! I’ve been going abroad since I was 6 and there’s always been topless women at every poolside. But then the mother did it and me and my sister begged her to cover up cuz she embarrassed us 😂 lol

User183737 · 17/07/2018 21:06

I wonder why nobody has posted a topless woman.

GunpowderGelatine · 17/07/2018 21:06

are you thick? breasts are not the same as a mans chest.

Why not?

As to someone upthread asking if we need to break the taboo - YES!! Not because it's depriving women of their right to 'parade' (Hmm) but because it's harmful in particular to young girls to say 'men can do this, but you're different, the boys will get erections and it's your responsibility to stop that'.

I think it's also refreshing for young people (who care less than you think) to see something other than the porno body types, let's normalise normal bodies! What it all boils down to is not upsetting men - and I think women do enough of that already. So yes let's break the taboo and not just accept that 'oh but women's boobs are sexualised like it or not so we can't do that '. If we want to change that then no one else is gonna do it for us

MoonsAndJunes · 17/07/2018 21:06

Itscoldoutside01 Loads of articles saying many French women feel sunbathing topless is passé.
Not been for years so don't know what the reality is.

GunpowderGelatine · 17/07/2018 21:09

Here you go user. One awesome topless lady

GunpowderGelatine · 17/07/2018 21:10

And BTW it's bollocks that women don't get turned on by chests

if you have tattoos use sunblock on them/they fad very fast when exposed to sun.my tit one had to be redone.
i find my gorgeous 56 inch chested husbands pecs very erotic.and he gets stared at alot...[grins]and for all you pearl clutchers.mens breasts and nipples are erogenous zones.just ask them.
this thread made me laugh and be disgusted all at once.....

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 17/07/2018 21:13

It's nothing to do with it being sexualised imo, it's just a bit common.

MsFrizzle · 17/07/2018 21:17

Do people here seriously wear bras 24/7? I literally only put one on if I'm off out somewhere!

Gunpowder
Although you're more likely to see this...

petrolpump28 · 17/07/2018 21:22

But only if you're a woman, usually. Some people are uncomfortable seeing women, or gay people, or black people in public. Should those people go home?

How do you know a person is gay? HILARIOUS

smallchanceofrain · 17/07/2018 21:25

Oh to be young and perky again! I'd give anything not to have to wear a bra all the time but I'm old, they're huge and would be almost down to my waist without one. It's actually painful not to wear a bra and they tend to get in the way a bit if I don't. I have to keep getting hold of them and moving them about!

When I don't wear a bra they are quite useful as storage tho'. I can fit my purse, car keys, house keys, 20 fags, a lighter and a couple of pints of lager under them. I can then raise my arms above my head without dropping anything except the lager. Grin

coolncalm · 17/07/2018 21:29

What the hell does men's chests have to do with it. No relevance at all. There's a huge difference between the two.

coolncalm · 17/07/2018 21:34

Gunpowder Should we normalise all body parts then. Just all walk round naked if the mood takes us?

I'm young, but 60kgs of weight loss due to illness means they're certainly not perky and they touch my stomach if I'm slouched (which I always am, beautiful posture I have) and I still don't wear a bra ;) My doctor (who I stopped going to) told me I have the breasts of an 80 year old. Way to make me feel self conscious, I guess.

lightonthewater · 17/07/2018 21:39

I think it depends on the age of the children. Small children, okay. Children older than eight or so, no.

Pompom42 · 17/07/2018 21:42

I'd say no, I'm with your hubby I'm afraid. It is just boobs but not where there are kids. If it was an adult hotel then yes.

GunpowderGelatine · 17/07/2018 21:43

Usually when they're holding hands with their boyfriend, or kissing him (I know, such lolz Hun). Should that gay person have to leave because they're making someone uncomfortable?
