To be topless around the kids pool?

Backstory...

On holiday at an all inclusive hotel with kids club etc. Got some tan lines from my bikini so this afternoon took the bikini top off to try and sort them out. DH comes over and says it is inappropriate near the kids pool. I said that he had his top off so why couldn’t I. He said because I was female.

I didn’t put the bikini top back on but is it inappropriate? It’s just boobs?

You crack on OP. Ignore the fools. Truly surprising the vitriol. Not pleasant reading. BiscuitBiscuit

Not inappropriate at all, and these teen boys everyone's in about will just have to learn to deal with it, that's life, women should t have to cover themselves so men don't get erections.

And I do walk around topless or naked at home, and I have kids and no one bats an eyelid.

PasstheStarmix · 18/07/2018 14:58

I don’t think there’s a need to be topless, as others say you can easily were strapless bikini top or put straps down to about unsightly tan lines.

DH saves children's lives (pediatric cardiologist) and thinks you're a "stupid exhibitionist"

Well thank goodness a poster's HUSBAND was on hand to give an opinion. Now we all know what a man thinks we can rest easy Hmm

Antiquepeek · 18/07/2018 15:00

Just my two pence worth...

Pps have said that it's not ok for women to have their norks out as men and women are "different"
Yes, we are different, but we shouldn't be in this context. The expectation for a woman to cover her chest while a man exposes his, is just another way that society is sexist. It is representative of outdated ideas about women having "respect" for themselves.

I am vehemently against anything that could be considered body shaming and as such the only thing that I think anybody needs to cover is their genitalia. Men and women should be free to wear as much or as little as they like.

For the record- it was the superior attitude based on what you do for a living

WhiteWalkerWife · 18/07/2018 15:02

Wouldnt bother me. You just might have my breastfed baby running up and signing 'milk' to you Grin

gunnyBear who knew it was a competition 😂🤭

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 18/07/2018 15:04

What's the OP's job got to do with anything? GrinConfused

betherenowinaminute · 18/07/2018 15:04

In Germany I went to a spa where you weren't allowed ANY clothes and there were groups of children/teens there also with no clothes on, in front of each other!!

I know incredibly shocking, they must have been there for some sort of orgy Hmm

Saving children's lives would win hands down for me though 👍

FeralBeryl · 18/07/2018 15:09

Is User really someone who has had to cover all your AL shifts? @WaitrosePigeon Hmm

0ccamsRazor · 18/07/2018 15:24

Quite, it is sad that there are so many brain washed people around.

Ffs, women bares her breasts whilst sun bathing, shock horror. Just goes to show how clothing attitudes are a social construct. Think how far women in places such as the middle east have to go, what they are up against. Most people here are women and yet they stand for censorship, misogyny and body shaming.

A real eye opener.

Greenyogagirl · 18/07/2018 15:29

Ok I started by thinking you were unreasonable, I’m very open about bodies and boobs but other people aren’t and I wouldn’t want to cause any discomfort or questions for people trying to relax on holiday.
However as it’s permitted and you’re not the only one then why is it even an issue?

TheWonderfulCat · 18/07/2018 15:33

I must admit OP at first I thought ywbu, but you're on holiday and if others are doing it then I see no reason why you shouldn't be able too. I occasionally pot around in the garden nude, especially on a nice warm day and it feels lovely.

Enjoy your holiday and dont forget to put on sunscreen otherwise you won't have to worry about white tan lines, just red ones Wink

The Daily Fail have got hold of this now...

cherish123 · 18/07/2018 18:18

Same as public breastfeeding.

bakedlikeabun · 18/07/2018 19:36

What cherish you mean sunbathing is protected by anti-discrimination law and has health benefits to boot?

bluebellsparklypants · 18/07/2018 23:09

Had an open view when 1st read the title however after reading your replies op your not looking for an opinion you already thought it was fine and you were completly in the right so unsure of why you bothered to post, if not only for alittle bit of attention. I think having some discretion about where you are when you strip off is common sense and being mindful of others is nothing to do with women's rights

MissedTheBoatAgain · 19/07/2018 06:39

Is not about time this debate about Topless was bottomed out. Hahaha
