Costa or Starbucks

Sat in Costa today inspired by the mcds thread thinking how much I prefer Starbucks but it's more expensive and Costa has a better loyalty scheme

Costa are always run down and part of terrible shopping complexes I.e next to a kfc and a subway. Puts me right off

Yeah, agree. There's something grim about the chain.

Costa by far in the area I live now. Their coffee is so much better and doesn't go as cold as quickly as Starbucks.

I'm lucky enough to live within a mile of a brand new, sparkling clean, spacious Costa, which is much nicer than the cramped one in our city centre.

Costas aren't always in run-down shopping complexes! Loads of them exist in highstreets as singular shops etc. I like to pop in sometimes after a look through the charity shops and the like.

Neither! Cafe Nero does the best coffee!

Problem is we drink coffee like the Americans- from a bucket! I like a black Americano and they always put too much water in. We need coffee like the Italians drink it. Smaller cup, stronger flavour and always made correctly. I would walk back to Venice for another one of their Americanos...

Most Starbucks are run as a franchise. The franchise owner will pay tax and all the staff will be paying tax (those with enough hours per month to warrant it anyway), as well as putting up with arseholes telling them that they’re tax avoiders.

My local branch is great. The staff are helpful and polite. The coffee is served much quicker than in any Costa I’ve ever been in too.

I can’t bear Nero, purely becuse there’s something in their coffee blend that seems to trigger my headaches.

Caffe Nero or nowhere as far as I'm concerned. Their coffee is superb.

Although of you do find yourself in a Costa- pay the extra 20p odd and have the Colombian blend (or whatever it's called) it is much nicer.

Starbucks. The food and drinks are so much better!
The coffee is better in Costa but I don't drink much coffee so I don't care too much.

Also, every time I go to Costa, I come out smelling like burned coffee grounds!

Starbucks every time. If I even go to Costa I can only drink vanilla lattes as it's the only way their coffee doesn't taste burnt

I hate coffee, and hate tea when out, so I only have hot chocolate. For me costa is much nicer

Starbucks. Costa coffee always tastes so weak to me. Although their hot chocolate is better.

Definitely Starbucks. Costa coffee is too mild for me. Unfortunately my nearest branch is gloomy with really strange people working behind the counter.

Nero tbh

I’ve only eve4 been in a Caffe Nero once and was distinctly underwhelmed by the coffee. Leaving aside the chains the best coffee I’ve ever had is by an Italian organic cafe round the corner from me. Great salads and panini too.

Hazelnut latte from Starbucks, caramel latte from Costa, never really tried much else apart from flat white haha. Right now my fave is Starbucks. Crave that wee hazelnut latte everyday.
