So in light of the fact we are experiencing a heatwave & still have a few months of Summer to go please tell me about your favourite UK beach resort/destination.

Unfortunately my knowledge is pretty limited as my parents whisked us away to their respective countries for every holiday & we therefore only had the odd day/weekend trip to the beach.

I love Holkham beach in Norfolk and Perranporth beach in Cornwall.

One that is VERY out of the way, with no shops, food outlets, anything nearby. Just the beach, the sea, minimal people.

I discovered Weymouth for the first time a few years back and loved that.

Pembrokeshire has some fantastic beaches. And Rossilli Bay in The Gower.

The Jurassic coast in Dorset is also spectacular. Get in the car and get exploring!

Morfa Nefyn, Llyn Peninsula. Absolutely stunning and there is literally a pub on the beach.

The Gower or Cornwall. The Gower is cheaper and less busy though.

Broadstairs (Viking or Joss, don't mind) and Abersoch are my favourites. Formby would win by a country mile but my pelvic floor isn't was it was, and there's no loo for miles.

You can't beat Cornwall for beaches imo. My favourites are Pendower and Carne, on the Roseland peninsula, Penberth, Sennen Cove, and Gwithian Towans. Heading east, the west end of Budleigh Salterton beach is lovely, Bigbury on Sea has a fab beach and a great view of Burgh Island and its Art Deco hotel, and I love Kimmeridge Bay in Dorset (great for rockpooling and fossiling).

My favourite British beach is Three Cliffs Bay on the Gower in south Wales though. Northumberland has some fantastic beaches, especially Bamburgh, overlooked by a castle, and Alnmouth. The north sea is bloody cold though, which is why I don't favour the east coast!

True, but Cornwall has better pubs.

If you ask people in my local town, they will say West Wittering.

I've never been. And anywhere that's crowded would be a no no for me. But nobody ever goes anywhere else. Or at least - they don't recommend anywhere else. Ever.

The best beaches are in Northumberland.

Got to be Cornwall for a holiday though. Love Perranporth

We love the North Cornwall/Devon coastline. Epic drive from the Essex coast but we still do it every couple of months.

Swanage, or anywhere on the Gower. Or Tenby or Saundersfoot.

St Ives for me. Fab place.

Pembrokeshire beaches are amazing, but coastline is far less developed

My faves are the pebble beaches porthallow and porthoustock in Cornwall and the walk between the two.
I love the whole smugglers cove feel.

Can’t really beat Hayle for a sandy beach.

North Norfolk beaches, particularly Holkham, Brancaster and Holme-next-the-Sea.

Saltburn, Whitby and bamburgh. We are off to North Wales in August so am looking forward to hopefully discovering some new favourites.

Lovely to see Pembrokeshire mentioned so much.
Filey is fossil tastic if your children like them.
Dunstanburgh (sp?) castle area /Craster is fantastic if you like rock pooling, seal watching, sandcastle building. And an enormous castle after a bracing walk.

The pub, the Ty Coch Inn, was once voted the second best beach bar IN THE WORLD. It's absolutely beautiful there
