So in light of the fact we are experiencing a heatwave & still have a few months of Summer to go please tell me about your favourite UK beach resort/destination.

Unfortunately my knowledge is pretty limited as my parents whisked us away to their respective countries for every holiday & we therefore only had the odd day/weekend trip to the beach.

Blackpool Sands, south Devon. It’s not sandy but it’s stunning.

JaceLancs · 02/07/2018 20:35

Shell island in Wales

MaluCachu · 02/07/2018 20:38

Llanddwyn Island/Newborough beach on Anglesey.

Kittykatmacbill · 02/07/2018 20:40

North Berwick beautiful warm (ish) paddling pool and brilliant fish and chips.

Brodick better shells and sea glass to find and favourite views.

BillThePony · 02/07/2018 20:40

Whitstable is my absolute favourite but also love Broadstairs and Whitby.

Grandadwasthatyou · 02/07/2018 20:50

@SallyCinnamon3009 ..where are those beaches? I was also in Cornwall last week, just gorgeous.

DailyMaui · 02/07/2018 20:50

Horsey, Wells and Holkham in Norfolk.

Morar in Scotland.

And a shout out to the sandy beach in Broughty Ferry, the beach of my youth.

EnglandKeepMyBones · 02/07/2018 20:52

Pretty much anywhere along the Northumberland Coast.

whiteroseredrose · 02/07/2018 20:53

Bamburgh beach in Northumberland, Calgary Bay on the Isle of Mull, Porthtowan Beach in Cornwall and Thurlestone Beach in Devon.

I like a quiet beach with very few facilities.

sleep5 · 02/07/2018 21:52

my favourite uk beaches are in the Scilly Isles just because they're deserted & beautiful. Failing that Cornwall, Camber (close to home) and so on.

grumpy4squash · 02/07/2018 21:58

Agree with pp about Weymouth, lots of Dorset generally, but also Southwold and Wells-next-the-sea. Caister, just north of Great Yarmouth is a long sandy stretch with dunes and is great for kite flying. Tenby was lovely last time I went (30 years ago) may still be nice.

TheMonkeyMummy · 02/07/2018 22:10

Filey in Yorkshire and woolacombe in Devon

catherinedevalois · 02/07/2018 22:15

Northcott near Bude. My all time favourite.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 02/07/2018 22:26

Even though I live near a beach in the south east, my favourite uk beach is skegness, so much entertainment, cheaper too and most of the people are relatively nicer.

Sophisticatedsarcasm · 02/07/2018 22:27

I used to love hemsby, Great Yarmouth, heard it’s gone down hill though, haven’t been there since I was 14.

LEDadjacent · 02/07/2018 22:35

Hayle and Kynance Cove in Cornwall for their beauty, Aldeburgh for seaside town perfect (but pebbly beach) and Hengistbury Head for sheer impressiveness of the surroundings.

Surroundedbycats · 02/07/2018 23:13

Woolacombe and Croyde
Charmouth Dorset for little ones
Tenby is quite nice for grown ups as you have the town as well

Yorkshire:- we live in East Riding of, Sandsend & Whitby, North Bay Scarborough and Hornsea.
Scotland:- Carradale & Campbeltown on Kintyre Pensulia.
Wales:- Loads on Anglesey/Yves Mon many around Fishguard and St Davis
South:- Teignmouth & Shaldon and Lyme Regis

Guess we spend all our holidays at the beach.
Kids when 11 and 9, after 2 weeks in Florida, when asked for best day that summer, replied yesterday at Sandsend Smile

helpconfused · 03/07/2018 00:02

Off to Hayle this Saturday, cannot wait! Introducing DS to the Towans 3 mile stretch of sandpit! He is gonna love it as much as me.

RainbowsAndSmiles · 03/07/2018 00:12

Can't beat the Yorkshire coast, it's gorgeous and something for everyone.

Rochelaise18 · 03/07/2018 07:00

The beaches at Seahouses and Bamburgh.

Xenia · 03/07/2018 08:41

Abroad - no litter no people hot? Well, hard to find them. I liked Bluff Beach in Panama but the waves are very high so any casual swimming is out other than a quick dip.

There are a few on Antigua which are often fairly isolated.

Bermuda had very little litter and I did long beach walks.

Last year I was on Barbuda before the devastation and there there were miles of totally isolated litter free beaches where I did my long beach walks. That was one of the best.

AStatelyPleasureDome · 03/07/2018 09:04

Broadstairs, Whitstable, Scarborough, Channel Islands

CoraPirbright · 03/07/2018 09:07

Blackpool Sands in South Devon. Not sandy so the name is a bit weird - it has tiny pebbles by the water and slightly larger ones further up. SO pretty. Fab cafe. When I die I am going to have my ashes scattered there Grin

spidey66 · 03/07/2018 09:17

Cornwall definitely. St Ives has 4 beaches and is lovely. There are other beaches locally too...Carbis Bay is lovely further away Sennan Cove and Porthcurno are lovely.
