to think you don't peg washing out at night?

I watched my neighbour peg washing out yesterday at 6pm. AIBU to think this is weird? Its gone midnight the next day and it's still out. They have been in and out all day today. I don't know what it is but I feel weird about having washing out overnight, so I don't know why you'd peg it out just before night. And then to have it out for two nights in a row 😱 It is so warm that washing dries within hours!

At the moment we are having a heat wave in the uk so I suppose it’s ok to leave it out but usually it’s raining and i would have to wash it again if it got wet so I don’t see the point in leaving it out all night.

"darked" !

My autocorrect does not understand importance of being darked on. I will put laptop in the garden overnight with my delicates and hope it learns well.

Hmmalittlefishy · 28/06/2018 01:14

I've started to put mine out in the evening. waves at op over the fence. I just don't have time in the morning to do it - I can't leave the toddler on her own while I peg it out first thing and then I'm at work. I have too much washing to wait until the weekend so it goes out in the evening very often. So far so good

Topseyt · 28/06/2018 01:14

Avamiah, tonight I ended up with a load of washing to go out at about 9.30pm, as my DD had just returned from a Duke of Edinburgh training trip this evening with a rucksack full of stinky camping stuff that urgently needed done.

No time to peg it out in the morning before work, so out it went this evening and there it will stay until late tomorrow.

I don't do it if the weather is likely to be bad, but otherwise yes, why not?

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:14

What is “darked on”?
Never heard that before ever 😟

PintOfMineralWater · 28/06/2018 01:15

I am really puzzled as to why this could be a "bad" thing? I hang mine out at night all the time, I have yet to find creatures on any of my stuff.

Ilovemypantry · 28/06/2018 01:16

I often put washing out evening time and leave it out all night during the summer months. Don’t think it matters when it goes out/comes in when the weather is dry and warm.

Topseyt · 28/06/2018 01:17

Why would you have to wash it again if it got rained on? I never have. It's only water!

4GreenApples · 28/06/2018 01:17

I put my washing out at 8pm this night.

The forecast is for hot sunny weather tomorrow and I rarely have time to hang out a load of washing before leaving the house in the morning.

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:17

Topseyt,
It’s going to be the hottest day ever.👍

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:19

Topseyt,
Good question ,
I don’t know to be be honest with you but I always have .

Topseyt · 28/06/2018 01:22

If it gets rained on then just leave it out longer until it is dry again. No harm done.

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:25

I have always re washed it and it’s the same if I get caught out in the rain, I will always wash my hair as soon as I get in.haha

justinhawkinsnavalfluff · 28/06/2018 01:25

I'm off to hang the washing out Grin

EndOfEternity · 28/06/2018 01:25

Spider willies?!
Darkened on?!
I feel I’ve missed something 🤣 Please tell 🙏🏼

Oh and we regularly leave it out all night but that’s due to parenthood blitzing our memories 🤣

CadyHeron · 28/06/2018 01:26

I don't but it's the UK and I don't want it to get pigging rained on when I'm asleep (or can't be arsed to get out of bed at 2am when it starts raining).

UK here but in the middle of a heatwave and still hot now even at this time! Been scorchio by early dawn chorus.

Dibbosteme · 28/06/2018 01:27

Unusually long dry spell for the UK at the moment. I would leave the washing out, but take it in if the forecast changed.

RoboJesus · 28/06/2018 01:27

Are you scared it'll run away?

CadyHeron · 28/06/2018 01:28

What is “darked on”?
Never heard that before ever

A MN thing where if you leave clothes on the line overnight the dark "gets them" and they're just therefore darked on Grin

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:32

CadyHeron,
Haha ok .😬.
I thought it was something to do with spiders and bugs .

User467 · 28/06/2018 01:32

I do it all the time. Don't have time in the mornings and it's better than a wet load sitting in a basket overnight. I've also had loads out when it's started tipping. If I don't get to it quickly enough I just leave it until it dries a bit again, I do rewash it but don't see the point bringing it in dripping. And sometimes I realise I still have washing out when it's really late and I'm too lazy to go get it. Nothing terrible has ever happened

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:36

Yes I always rewash if it gets wet.
Maybe we should have a discussion about that as I don’t know why I rewash but I just do .

CadyHeron · 28/06/2018 01:40

*CadyHeron,Haha ok .😬.I thought it was something to do with spiders and bugs)

Oh, that's a separate thing to darked on - apparently spiders rub their willies all over your washing during the night when you're not looking Grin

avamiah · 28/06/2018 01:49

CadyHeron,
Haha,
Didn’t think they had willies, but bugs will be on the washing at some time in the night.

Bramble71 · 28/06/2018 01:49

It's plenty warm enough at night just now and I don't believe rain is forecast, so what's the problem?
