DH just gone away for three days, otherwise he would talk me down I’m sure. But right now it’s just me and the DC and I’ve opened DDs room to discover this.... nest? Chrysalis? It’s about 5cm x 3cm. Help!

What's a snail doing all the way up there though?
Can you post some more photos from different angles - doesn't quite look right for wasp nest but hard to tell.

Tis a snail. Just pick it off the wall and put it outside.

Could it be an emperor moth cocoon

It's a Roman snail which is a protected species and its illegal to injure them. They can be 5cm across. Just pop him outside and he'll be on his way.

I thought toad/frog. Can you take another picture from a different angle?

According to google a Roman snail is one that's edible. Now I really do feel sick 😷

Agree with the others, it's a snail. It's the shape of a snail. It's 'head' is at the top.

Take a photo with your face RIGHT next to it so we can tell how big it is

It looks to me like a snail but it's not a great photo. But I think the foot of the snail is visible. If it is an African Land Snail -it must NOT be released into the wild.
Roman Snail is protected but normally a lighter brown.

This is like the blue/gold dress. i too am NOT seeing a snail. it looks like a nest of some kind.....what kind, will we ever ....find....out...before it strikes???? :)

It's a moth

My DP is an Ecologist and he thinks it's a 'bursted gall', which is a solitary wasp house.... Will try and Google as well, but he says it's hard to tell exactly.... HTH...?!
