DH just gone away for three days, otherwise he would talk me down I’m sure. But right now it’s just me and the DC and I’ve opened DDs room to discover this.... nest? Chrysalis? It’s about 5cm x 3cm. Help!

@VeganCow ours are not in huge tanks but as you can see get plenty of outdoor playtime!

Looks like a snail without its shell. I had a racing snail that I took the shell off once to make it go faster....sadly it just made him more sluggish... :-(

I love having them as pets, as I do find them fascinating. I've kept them for years. My tank of choice is one of those large plastic tanks (2 or 3 foot long) with wire grille on top, that are sold for indoor guinea pigs etc (which IMHO are way too small for them, but great for snails). There are many species that come under the term 'Giant African Land Snail', and they are, indeed, very real. More information on species and keeping snails as pets can be found here.

Mine came from Brixton market, I saved them from being someone's dinner (I'm a regular there )! The picture here is one of mine next to a normal sized garden snail.

Anyway, now I've derailed this thread some more I'll bugger off!
