DH just gone away for three days, otherwise he would talk me down I’m sure. But right now it’s just me and the DC and I’ve opened DDs room to discover this.... nest? Chrysalis? It’s about 5cm x 3cm. Help!

Gerald will be back hahahaha

AlessandroVasectomi · 21/06/2018 01:40

Now you’ve got rid of the snail I’d get that room decorated next. The cutting in between the wall and the ceiling is appalling.

ScarlettSahara · 21/06/2018 01:48

Yeah - that first photo looked like a snail with its foot curling at the top. My DD screams if she spots a spider (don’t know how she coped on camping trip) - she would have gone into meltdown with that snail. It’s hot and humid here but still going to sleep with window open. Snail repellant ideas anyone? Spider ones too? 🐌🕷

Apocalypse- is the snail hiding behind a large peeled King Edward?

MrsTommyBanks · 21/06/2018 02:38

Best thread ever Flowers for OP

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 21/06/2018 07:25

And here he is - Gerald the fastest fungus in the West...

Alessandro 😁 re the decorating, if only to get rid of the poo.

Thanks again all, you really made me laugh yesterday and I was genuinely in fear and ready to seal off that room till Friday evening.

Oh no I still can’t post photos!

I can't believe he was actually a snail.
I still think he'd part alien Shock

Enb76 · 21/06/2018 08:54

Did you know that snails can find their way home and are a bit territorial. You may have evicted Gerald but he'll be back!

Lycanthropology · 21/06/2018 08:57

Mycar Shock

Are those your actual pets? They're ginormous!

VeganCow · 21/06/2018 09:12

those of you that have African land snails as pets, would you recommend them and what size tank is needed?

Vagndidit · 21/06/2018 09:14

Bravo---I certainly hope there will be space for this thread in MN Classics 😁 I needed a good laugh.

Chocolateismyvice · 21/06/2018 09:15

They are not snails, they are demons! Demons I tell you!

Grin Grin Grin @ offering if avocado on rye though, don't forget with a side of kale though.....

Praisebe · 21/06/2018 09:16

Looks like some sort of snail to me is it on the wall ? Pic is hard to make out

MollyHuaCha · 21/06/2018 09:24

Brilliantly thread. Thanks OP.

deplorabelle · 21/06/2018 09:50

Have reported so MNHQ can reset your photo limit. We need to see Gerald!

BlooperReel · 21/06/2018 10:06

I don't really think Gerald is a snail. Didn't you watch stranger things? There'll be a portal into another dimension in DD's room next....

Eenymeeny123 · 21/06/2018 10:06

You are mycarhasbrokendown they are huge but look like snails. Gerald didn't look like them, he had to be an alien being come to spy on us and return with information. Soon we will all have a Gerald in our homes plotting their take over.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/06/2018 10:28

My favourite quote:

It amuses me that in the UK Roman snails are protected, and in France they're like nah, pass the garlic.

😂😂😂😂😂😂

Ah, I’m too late to suggest that we name it Fucker in memory of the poster who used to write swear words on snails in tipp-ex and then turn them loose to insult gardeners throughout the neighbourhood.

Ohhhhhh that is fucking brilliant. I might have to nick a tippex pen and take it home with me...

donutsarelife · 21/06/2018 10:45

@VeganCow I would highly recommend African land snails as pets. I have had one for 7 years and my daughter has had a pair for 2 years. She loves holding them and caring for them and they are really low maintenance! Just a bit of cuttlefish and some fruit and veg!

strawberrypenguin · 21/06/2018 11:05

@VeganCow my DS has a giant African land snail. He's still quite a small snail at the moment. We keep him in a large propagator that you can get in any garden centre. He needed a small heat mat under his tank at the start of the year but doesn't at the moment.

They need a cuttlefish and fresh fruit/veg everyday. Really easy to look after and he quite happily snails over DS's hands in the evening.

We got ours from a website called bugznbits who were really good.

Photo is a month or so old - he's a bit bigger than that now but still a long way off fully grown.

VeganCow · 21/06/2018 11:19

Thank you both. I love snails and would like a couple but worried they will outgrown any enclosure and would t want to keep them in something that it’s too small for them. Been offered some snails today actually for free as someone’s has had babies

daughterofanarchy · 21/06/2018 11:50

Just read this entire thread with a sleeping baby in my lap- I howled like a hyena at the comments and woke the kid up! One of the best threads ever!

SluttyButty · 21/06/2018 12:10

You bunch of lovely bastards people.
I've come to catch up and all I can see is pictures of grim snails 😱

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 21/06/2018 12:19
