To ask what your low cost luxury is?

We are trying to save money at the moment so there is little room for luxury.

I'd love to hear your low cost (or even free!) luxuries? At the moment mine are a cheap bunch of flowers and a coffee from the machine. I did buy myself some tights today but I'm not sure you can call that a luxury...

How do you treat yourself?

Home made bread rolls with strawberry jam, and Ikea scented candles.

WhiteFreesias · 27/05/2018 19:29

Tea lights.

Day in by myself off work. Shower, washed dried and straightened hair, mascara eyeliner and fresh PJ's. Nothing wrong with comfortable.

Toast and butter with sourdough bread.

Line dried bedding, ironed pjs hot, bath and hot cloth cleanser.

Ice cold water.

Same as wovendeckchair: the odd bottle of hand wash from molton brown in rhubarb and roses for my kitchen - £18 and lasts about 3-4 weeks.. Also pink peppercorn shower gel.

Aldi Madagascan Vanilla Chocolate, bottle of italian sauvignon also from Aldi and rent a film via Sky Box.

caithuait · 27/05/2018 19:42

My lowest cost pleasure is sticking a cheesy floorfiller on my phone from the 80s or 90s when I am on my own and dancing.

Babybearsporij · 27/05/2018 19:42

I get a Green & Black's tasting set (about £5 for a small one or £10-£11 for a big one) and make it last.

A roaring fire on a crappy day. Curling up on the sofa with the dog and my kindle having achieved everything on my 'to do' list. Freshly ground coffee and/or G&T by my side. Maybe some posh nuts to nibble on too.

Recently bought a swing seat for the garden. After an intial outlay it has to be THE best 'free' luxury ever. Have never felt so relaxed. Am on it every single day - the dog comes too but lies by my feet. Pure bliss.

Food! Lots of lovely 'snacky' food - think an array of cheese, cherry tomatoes, crackers, nuts, fruit etc...

I'm smiling just writing this...

SodTheGreenfly · 27/05/2018 19:59

Right now in garden, glass of pink, listening to birdsong.

In about three weeks in garden, weather prevailing with a mug of tea, dish of greek yoghurt with that morning's freshly picked raspberries.

SandAndSea · 27/05/2018 20:52

All of the above (especially clean bedding) plus...

Walking/lying/reading/picnic on the beach and buying a coffee in a beachfront cafe.
Early night or lie in with a cuppa and a good book.
Cuddling on the sofa with a good film.
Alpro dark chocolate soya dessert - they're often on offer for £1 and you get 4 in a pack.
A cleaner for a couple of hours - does the bathroom, kitchen floor, hoovers and dusts downstairs for around £20.
Good food, eg. organic veg.
Online grocery deliveries at the cheaper times. (I do my shopping when and where it suits me - much more luxurious than going to the supermarket. It also reduces spontaneous purchases so it probably pays for itself.)
Exchanging clubcard vouchers for a meal out.
Home-made stir-fry instead of a takeaway - spring rolls are often on offer locally and I make a sauce. (Healthier too as no horrible additives.)
Home-made body oils, eg. rose and geranium essential oils in grape seed oil or just plain coconut oil.
Having a clean, clear house. The more clutter I get rid of, the better life seems. Less is definitely more, in my experience.

DuchyDuke · 27/05/2018 20:55

LittleHearts · 27/05/2018 21:54

Morrisons sausage rolls Smile

niceberg · 27/05/2018 22:05

Prusik what proportions do you use? Sounds awesome on pancakes and strawberries!

Frogqueen13 · 27/05/2018 22:08

Not cheap cheese 😂 for the first time ever we can afford to buy pilgrims choice or cathedral city instead of value cheese 😂

butlerswharf · 27/05/2018 22:11

I remember reading that during times of recession sales of nail varnish go up because they're such a cheap treat.

SandAndSea · 27/05/2018 22:42

Mua lipstick - it's £1 in Superdrug.

MrsTommyBanks · 27/05/2018 23:07

Supplies to feed garden birds. I get immeasurable joy from watching my feeding station.
It was my best 50th birthday present by far.

Garden plants. Lidls, Poundland and my local market are my main sources. I have a lovely display verging on blooming. It's so therapeutic to look after them and I'm so excited to see them in their full glory.

JaceLancs · 27/05/2018 23:10

Home made margarita
Treat foods like steak or king prawns
Long bath with good book and candles
A new plant for the garden

BlackForestCake · 27/05/2018 23:46

Another vote for nice soap. Even really fancy handmade soap only costs a few pounds and lasts for ages.

Ski40 · 28/05/2018 01:05

@YearOfYouRemember Enjoy! It's brilliant! 😊

hellokittymania · 28/05/2018 01:09

Peppermint mocha, I know how to fix my own now.

Flaminglingos · 28/05/2018 03:09

I collect my costa points to save for a cheap coffee and get a book out from the library.

Birdsgottafly · 28/05/2018 03:57

Crumpets with Lurpak butter on. Fettimans Rose Lemonade.
A walk round a Garden Center, or our local Community Farm (with my GC), which also sells plants.

mellongoose · 28/05/2018 04:48

Lounge Eggs and a good book.

BigFishy · 28/05/2018 11:25

A library book and a film taped off the telly Smile

Flisspaps · 28/05/2018 17:43

@Babybearsporij our Tesco had boxes of 12 Green and Black mini bars reduced to £1.37 yesterday!
