To ask what your low cost luxury is?

We are trying to save money at the moment so there is little room for luxury.

I'd love to hear your low cost (or even free!) luxuries? At the moment mine are a cheap bunch of flowers and a coffee from the machine. I did buy myself some tights today but I'm not sure you can call that a luxury...

How do you treat yourself?

Forgot to add, it’s especally good for perfume samples, I’ve got a little stash so I can wear something different when I feel like it without spending on a big bottle.

liz70 · 27/05/2018 11:56

Remember you can join your local library's digital lending service and access ebooks, magazines and audio books for free.

WyldDucks · 27/05/2018 11:58

Line dried bed sheets and freshly shaven legs. Fuck yes!

Palegreenstars · 27/05/2018 11:59

Marmite and butter spaghetti

And baths as often as possible

ElinorOliphantIsCompletelyFine · 27/05/2018 12:00

Whittards hot chocolate, whipped cream and mini marshmallows. Sometimes, a spoonful of Nutella goes in too.

A long hot bath whilst listening to an inspiring or educational podcast

I save up my boots points throughout the year until I have £30 to spend on a luxury brand :)

Lovely herbal and iced teas, I recently discovered this shop does some really lovely ones.
A long bath & then I scrub my arms & legs with a Korean Italy cloth. They are so much smoother than they ever used to be. Those things are the best I've ever found for bumpy skin.
Lovely fruit. I'm dieting at present so no ice cream (boo hoo) but am allowing myself some lovely soft fruit. Morrisons sell massive boxes of strawberries for under £4. Totally delicious with some plain skyr mixed with a sprinkle of vanilla powder.
TKMaxx for wood wick type air fresheners. I've also had the occasional bargainous makeup find there - I only buy the ones that are still sealed, BTW. I've picked up 3 of my favourite brand of lip colour chubby stick, & an Illamasqua eyeliner in the past year. Plus some perfume.

Re books / audiobooks etc - I don't know if all libraries do it - but my library allow me to borrow books online, via apps. There are two apps: Libby (audiobooks & reading books), & RBDigital (audiobooks & magazines). I thinks there may be other apps as well for Apple, etc, I'm on Android. It's free, & no fines as the books automatically return themselves when they expire. Just need a library membership card.

Exfoliating my legs with a scrubby glove and any old grainy scrub, then shaving them, then thick body lotion, then body oil on them.

Proper loose leaf tea in a teapot

liz70 · 27/05/2018 12:23

Borrowbox is another app for accessing library e and audiobook loans.

Mymouthgetsmeintrouble · 27/05/2018 12:27

A bath with nice smelly stuff , shave legs then get into freshly changed bedsheets its heavenly

winklegirl · 27/05/2018 13:05

I buy lots of showergels on offer, and have lots open at same time so I have a choice every morning - feels a real treat to me to start the day!

Also early nights and podcasts, like mayo & kermode's film review, women's hour, the allusionist, my dad wrote a porno, etc. All free :-)

Watching a film or TV during the day when kids at school.

Playing Pokémon go :-)

winklegirl · 27/05/2018 13:06

Oh and baths, in one now :-)

londonmummy1966 · 27/05/2018 14:48

M&S sourdough bread

Fresh flowers - this week are peonies my absolute favourite

Homemade covers on the coat hangers in my wardrobe - looks pretty and makes me smile in the morning.

Sadly I don't live near a beach otherwise a walk looking for sea glass would be top of my list too.

happypoobum · 27/05/2018 14:52

Bunches of tulips (£2) and fake-Guylian seashells (£2.40) both from Lidl. Smile

Ski40 · 27/05/2018 18:17

@YearOfYouRemember if you like to read magazines online the Issuu app is free and there are thousands of magazines from any country and brochures in it 😊 I can't get enough of it. You can also "clip" out bits and save them or share them.

Passingwords · 27/05/2018 18:22

DH took kids out during the day, instead of tidying I lay flat out in garden and fell asleep in sun for a whole hour and can’t wait to do it again - nobody knows and it adds to the luxury

YearOfYouRemember · 27/05/2018 18:29

Thank you @Ski40.. I've downloaded it.

HushabyeMountainGoat · 27/05/2018 18:31

Clean bedding that has been dried on the line. The pinnacle.

Scented candles from TKMaxx

Loreal Oil Cleanser and a hot flannel. Feels posh but costs about £5 and takes all my make up off a treat. The flannel is good for exfoliating too and v green. (Eco not mouldy)

Farmhouse granary toast with marmalade

Superdrug's lemon meringue bubblebath

TryItAndDieFatLass · 27/05/2018 18:34

A bottle of Lidl or Aldi own brand Strawberry & Lime cider. Bonus yesterday , half price in Lidl so cheated and bought 2!

ChiefSpoon · 27/05/2018 18:44

Maybelline satin foundation, previously a Clinique user but SMP 😂

possumgoddess · 27/05/2018 19:09

Best free luxury - clean line dried sheets on the bed, partner away for the night, lie in in the morning. However now I have, for the first time in my life, a little bit of money to spare, my luxuries are having the windows cleaned and a monthly back and neck massage from a wonderful lady who comes to me and charges hardly anything. Apart from my family she is my absolutely favourite person in the entire world!!!
