To ask what your low cost luxury is?

We are trying to save money at the moment so there is little room for luxury.

I'd love to hear your low cost (or even free!) luxuries? At the moment mine are a cheap bunch of flowers and a coffee from the machine. I did buy myself some tights today but I'm not sure you can call that a luxury...

How do you treat yourself?

A face mask, I like the Simple one for dry skin. Honestly, they are the best hangover cure!!!

GreyBird84 · 26/05/2018 22:42

Shower, fresh bedclothes, a sleep mist (M&S do a nice one for £6) & an eye mask.

Mammyloveswine · 26/05/2018 22:48

Wine is my little luxury! I like a decent chardonnay (okay, creamy and buttery). Aldi have a beautiful one in atm which was down to 5.99!! It's so nice... I had half the bottle tonight but normally I'd glug the full thing. This was too nice... needs to be enjoyed!

I do like a latte every now and again especially in the winter after a walk along the beach!

A hot shower is amazing and always makes me feel better...I don't enjoy the bath half as much!

Mammyloveswine · 26/05/2018 22:50

That should say "oaky" not okay...okay wine is fine when out to get drunk but not when actually enjoying wine properly

scaryteacher · 26/05/2018 22:59

Opening a new pack of unsalted Lurpak.
Getting a good night's sleep, as I am perimenopausal and have had barstarding insomnia for about three years now.
Having my senior cat curled up beside me on the bed as he is now.

A trip to the library and not letting myself leave till I’ve borrowed the maximum number of books allowed. I love knowing I have LOADS of things to read... Smile

snufflehuff · 26/05/2018 23:07

Some lovely asparagus! That's my little luxury!

Remote1candles · 26/05/2018 23:22

£1 trial subscriptions to magazines, just make sure you cancel your direct debit once the first payment has gone out.

UpstartCrow · 26/05/2018 23:25

Lidl ground coffee, the speciality one. The Kenyan coffee is my favourite.

Bath, do a hair treatment with coconut oil (bought from b&m or similar), clean pjs and clean sheets.

Lie in with cup of tea and a book. Or cuppa and book in the garden on a sunny day.

If you have amazon prime you can get prime music included, gives you an app a bit like Spotify - I like to choose a random playlist on there - new (to me) music but ‘free’ or at least doesn’t cost any extra than what I’d already be paying.

Hot chocolate before bed.

Got some really amazing vintage cheddar in M&S last week had been over £4 reduced to 40p as it was the sell by date, but it’s still absolutely fine - there’s only some left because we’ve been so strict with ourselves, it’s so so tasty.

Superdrug version of the Liz Earle hot cloth cleanser, cheap as chips and not hugely different to the expensive version.

Smothering myself in cocoa butter body lotion, I’m using an Avon one at the moment which was only a few quid.

I bought a huge bumper pack of Korean sheet masks from amazon ages ago, probably worked out as about 50p each. They’re lovely and leave my skin very moisturised and glowy.

A little blackcurrant tart from the bakery.

Lidl can of G&T - fintons it’s called. Not a luxury brand but perfectly drinkable for 85p or so. Also the Lidl or Aldi version of mini magnums.

Another fan of reduced price flowers, nice olives and wine.

PumpkinPiloter · 27/05/2018 00:13

I love this thread!

Mine would have to be freshly roasted coffee from RAVE freshly ground myself.

Also probably that rare hour of netflix during the day.

MinaPaws · 27/05/2018 06:54

Oh yes, good coffee definitely. Was in Central London yesterday and detoured to the Algerian Coffee Shop which is coffee lovers' paradise. Bought a bag of freshly ground beans - ground to order, for less than £5. More expensive than a supermarket but so luxurious and they smell divine.

1/2 hour of comedy last thing. DS2 (teens) needs 30 mins physio daily so we watch Kimmy Schmidt/Parks & Rec/Fresh Meat/People Just Do Nothing before we head upstairs for baths and bed. Lovely happy way to end the day.

speakout · 27/05/2018 07:10

Wild flowers- free. A trip to the forest, I take a bag and come back with all sorts of interesting stuff.
If you must buy then go to a charity shop. Small independent ones are best, my local one sells most stuff for £1 or less.

Prusik · 27/05/2018 11:29

A real cheap treat. Homemade chocolate sauce. Butter, cocoa powder and golden syrup. Microwave for ten seconds. Stir.

Drizzle liberally over pancakes and chopped banana or dip strawberries.

Bliss

Bath and clean sheets

Going to bed early leaving dd with eh so I have a precious hour of no snoring and her not chewing my nipples.

I realise if I’d let you think he was nipple obsessed my life would sound more interesting

happymummy12345 · 27/05/2018 11:37

My treat is: my acrylics every fortnight, and my eyebrow wax once a month give or take.

LipstickHandbagCoffee · 27/05/2018 11:42

Clean sheets, fluffy towels are simple but effective luxuries

SadieContrary · 27/05/2018 11:46

My monthly KindleUnlimited subscription

Caselgarcia · 27/05/2018 11:53

A whole bag of Percy Pigs while catching up on my Scandinavian TV recordings

Keepitw0nky · 27/05/2018 11:53

Feel Unique do a pick n mix sample box, you can buy one a month, pick 5 samples and just pay £3.95 postage, the postage is redeemable against a full size product. I get to try lots of products I couldn’t usually afford and you can see which ones are worth the money.
