YABVVVVVVU sweet potatoes are delicious!

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/05/2018 21:55

YABU. They’re versatile and delicious. And they’re not potatoes.

FlyingElbows · 17/05/2018 21:56

Sweet potatoes are vile and basically just ginger parsnips. They are the food of the devil.

Grumpyoldblonde · 17/05/2018 21:56

Sweet potatoes are delicious and not potatoes so you can't really compare them to spuds

IWantMyHatBack · 17/05/2018 21:56

They're nutritionally different. Sweet potatoes have vit A, don't they? And possibly more fibre.

picklemepopcorn · 17/05/2018 21:59

They have a better GI and a wider range of vitamins.

donquixotedelamancha · 17/05/2018 22:07

Indeed, apart from appearance and flavour, sweet potatoes are just like parsnips.

ChevalierTialys · 17/05/2018 22:09

I've read they are much better for you than normal taties. Is that not true then?

bluerunningshoes · 17/05/2018 22:10

I like parsnips sweet potatos are nothing like parsnips

YABVU. If you're good at cooking them they're delicious and they are nutritionally superior to the plain old spud.

Notcontent · 17/05/2018 22:11

I love them! And they are highly nutritious.

Lilyargin · 17/05/2018 22:11

They are not a carb but a vegetable. And they are so delicious.

goose1964 · 17/05/2018 22:11

Too sweet for me, although I can handle a small amount if mashed with hot sauce

IWantMyHatBack · 17/05/2018 22:12

Parsnips are like revolting rooty nasty things. Roasted sweet potatoes are amazing and I could eat my weight in them.

Hassled · 17/05/2018 22:12

In fairness, they do taste a bit like parsnips. I love them. Oddly I first had them in very rural Ireland in the 1970s - they were like some sort of wonder-veg.

TigerDroveAgain · 17/05/2018 22:13

They are totally yum and YABU

IWantMyHatBack · 17/05/2018 22:13

MASHED WITH HOT SAUCE?! 🤤😮😀

picklemepopcorn · 17/05/2018 22:13

Much more Vit A and C. Also all this: "Sweet potatoes are loaded with antioxidants. They are rich in beta-carotene, vitamin C, pro-vitamin E, anthocyanins and sporamins. " whatever that is. But it's good for you.

bluerunningshoes · 17/05/2018 22:13

my suspicion is that the 'they are good for you' claim comes from whoever sells them...

Sweet potato chips are one of the best side benefits about living in the US.

I don’t like ordinary chips.

InfiniteSheldon · 17/05/2018 22:14

I be forced to cliff parsnips shag sweet potatoes and marry potatoes because you can only make marmite roasties with proper potatoes

SenecaFalls · 17/05/2018 22:14

Sweet potato pie is delicious.

Imfinehowareyou · 17/05/2018 22:16

They are awesome. Chop them into cubes and roast, then add cubes of halloumi for the last 10 mins - lush. Or spiralise them, roast and add an egg for the last 10 mins. I could live off sweet potatoes.

MarthasGinYard · 17/05/2018 22:16

'vile and basically just ginger parsnips.'
Grin

BrazzleDazzleDay · 17/05/2018 22:16
