AIBU to think that anyone who hears Laurel is playing a practical joke? It's definitely yanny!

I just asked DH and he hears ‘Yuri’. There’s always one Hmm

Cockmagic · 16/05/2018 09:26

Laurel for me
Tried very hard to hear yanny but no joy.

SmellsLikeMiddleAgeSpirit · 16/05/2018 09:26

Another Laurel here. No hint of Yanny whatsoever!

CuriousMama · 16/05/2018 09:27

So was yanny when I heard it in the radio. Now it's laurel? Confused

Peta11 · 16/05/2018 09:29

LAUREL?! very clear. Am i broken?
😂

Ginger1982 · 16/05/2018 09:33

So I just clicked into the link again and it's yanny now. Clearly some sort of trick.

itsBritneyBeach · 16/05/2018 09:39

I heard Yanny to start then tried to hear Laurel and I can hear both. The Laurel is in an American accent Grin

VitaminP · 16/05/2018 09:40

Both, more like ‘yarry’ In a nasally voice,
‘Laurel’ in a deeper voice

VileyRose · 16/05/2018 09:45

It's laurel now. Does it change. Wtf

CaliforniaDream · 16/05/2018 09:50

I've tried over and over to hear laurel and I just can't!

Yanny or Laurel?!
MissionItsPossible · 16/05/2018 09:54

What does Laurel sound like? I can hear a nasally American accented Yanny. Is Laurel American too?

Ansumpasty · 16/05/2018 09:55

Only hear Yanny, nothing like Laurel

TheWomblerReturns · 16/05/2018 09:55

I've heard laurel now. It's the train announcer who says laurel

WeWere0nABreak · 16/05/2018 09:56

Ginger - told you!!

I reckon it's because our minds were working it out. So perhaps at first we heard Laurel because that's an actual recognisable word; then after stewing on it a bit, we were more predisposed to hear yanny...

WhatCanIDoNowPlease · 16/05/2018 09:56

It's both, depending on the pitch. And depends on your personal settings on whatever you are using to listen.

FizzyGreenWater · 16/05/2018 09:59

I hear Balonz, how can anyone hear anything else?

TireSwing · 16/05/2018 10:04

I can only hear Yanny. In listening on my iPhone so wonder if it's missing some of the pitch or depth of sound for Laurel? Is this Laurel pronounced like Worrel or Moral?

I've just asked my 2 year old to repeat it and he said "Yanny". That doesn't help me but is interesting

TheBogWitchIsBack · 16/05/2018 10:07

LOL balonz

FesteringCarbuncle · 16/05/2018 10:11

Can anyone do a clicking link
I'm on my phone and being driven crazy wondering what you are all on about

CryingMessFFS · 16/05/2018 10:12

I can only hear Laurel. I swear everyone saying yanny is lying 😂

shirleyschmidt1 · 16/05/2018 10:12

It's now gone back to yanny! Weirdest thing is I recorded it on my phone as yanny to be absolutely sure (what a productive day this is!😂), and when I played back my own recording a few times it was Laurel 😳 Yet just now my recording is yanny again. Surely my own recording on the same device can't trick me?! I'm so confused!

gingergenius · 16/05/2018 10:12

I hear both.

Eminybob · 16/05/2018 10:15

It sounds like yanny in a nasally american accent, something like yeahny. Dh hears yearly.

I can’t get laurel at all. There is nothing anything like an L sound!

Chocoholicmumma · 16/05/2018 10:17

If I listen to it withy he tv I’m in the background I hear Yanny. If I listen to it in silence I hear Laurel!
