AIBU to think that anyone who hears Laurel is playing a practical joke? It's definitely yanny!

I'm so relieved. I thought this was a baby name thread and couldn't believe someone was going to saddle their child with Yanny.

memaymamo · 16/05/2018 08:53

Thank you SO much to the person who linked the frequency explanation. I was going mental.

Troels · 16/05/2018 08:55

Yanny

Storminateapot · 16/05/2018 08:56

Yanny. Can't hear a hint of Laurel there.

shirleyschmidt1 · 16/05/2018 08:58

When I first posted 20 mins ago it was clearly yanny but having just rechecked it's Defo Laurel!! Used the exact same device! 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️

blueskyinmarch · 16/05/2018 08:59

Yanny. How do people hear Laurel?

0h · 16/05/2018 09:01

It's gone back to yanny.

I'll have to stop listening as it's making me annoyed that I can't control which I hear., 😂

blueskyinmarch · 16/05/2018 09:01

I tried it on my laptop and my phone. Both Yanny.

Oysterbabe · 16/05/2018 09:03

I thought this was going to be a baby names thread.

strixowl · 16/05/2018 09:03

I hear Yanny clear as anything.

jellycat1 · 16/05/2018 09:04

Wow that's crazy! So are they saying your hearing is somehow damaged if you only hear Laurel?

TheBogWitchIsBack · 16/05/2018 09:05

I think it's more about hearing different frequencies and the natural changes that happen to our hearing as we age rather than damage.

Mxyzptlk · 16/05/2018 09:05

Yanny! And I'm very old. Smile

TinyRick · 16/05/2018 09:13

I could only hear 'Yarry/Yerry' so I guess I am with the 'Yanny' crowd Confused

WeWere0nABreak · 16/05/2018 09:13

Right, tried again and now I only hear yanny. How???

YouCantBeSirius · 16/05/2018 09:13

I hear a high pitched yanny. DP hears Laurel.

FindingNormal · 16/05/2018 09:16

Most definitely laurel

RadiantResults · 16/05/2018 09:17

Laurel!!! Mind the first time I thought he said yammel Grin

ICantCopeAnymore · 16/05/2018 09:19

This is really bizarre - it has clear L sounds at the beginning and end of the word.

CuriousMama · 16/05/2018 09:19

Yanny

Cobblersandhogwash · 16/05/2018 09:19

Laurel.

Ginger1982 · 16/05/2018 09:19

Are people insane?? It's so obviously Laurel!

WeWere0nABreak · 16/05/2018 09:21

Ginger - that's what I thought.

Give it half an hour and try again. Now I have no idea how I ever heard Laurel (although apparently the original recording was Laurel before they messed with it!).

Mxyzptlk · 16/05/2018 09:22

ShockHmmConfused

Okay, now it's the complete opposite. Someone's messing me about!

WeWere0nABreak · 16/05/2018 09:22

And now it's back to Laurel.

This is killing me.

Damn you, Op!!
