to want to go braless even though DP disapproves?

Been with DP for 3 years. When I'm not at work I tend not to wear a bra. I have c cup boobs. Not tiny but not big either. I don't have significantly protruding nipples (not that it would matter if I did!). Problem is, I love going braless, it's so comfy and I just prefer it. DP hates it. Thinks it's inappropriate (no, I don't wear anything see through or massively booby). He thinks everyone is staring at my breasts (they're not) and I may as well be naked... AIBU to think, 'my boobs, my choice' ?

I had 32ff boobs... 3 kids later and breast pumping for my youngest means that if I went braless I would end up tripping over them...add the large nipples that would be tickling my belly button to the mix and I can safely say you've got an accident waiting to happen. If they were small and perky I may venture out of the house without copious amounts of scaffolding keeping them up. If i went on the school run sans bra I would get black eyes as it stands. But if I could get away with it too right I would

AjasLipstick · 15/05/2018 06:28

Glaci no...not that the PENCIl sits there but my boobs do! I can't hold a pencil under my boobs at all.

Glaciferous · 15/05/2018 06:49

Isn't that passing it because it means they're not sagging? Or have I got it wrong? Anyway, I couldn't hold a pencil under mine either.

MissReginaPhilange · 15/05/2018 06:53

Lucky ladies I coukd get a pencil case under mine Grin

AjasLipstick · 15/05/2018 07:09

Glaci Oh I don't know really! I think I thought that you passed if your boob was big enough to hold a pencil under it! Like...bigger boobs are better or something. I never considered sag factor. Grin

Sinkingswimmer · 15/05/2018 07:09

It seems there are a lot of braless ladies around if this thread is anything to go by! But I can't say I've noticed, so what does that tell you? Maybe you could tell him that while politely reminding him its your body and you will dress how you wish.

AjasLipstick · 15/05/2018 07:12

Sink no I don;t think you can tell with me because I do wear a vest underneath my clothes...it presses my nipples down. If I walked about in a loose fitting top..made of thin stuff, then you'd know! But I don't.

Well not anymore! I did in the 90s! Grin

Lweji · 15/05/2018 07:31

I've got 34 Ds and have never even owned a bra.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know your size so precisely?

TigerTown · 15/05/2018 07:51

I think if you are lucky enough to have the sort of breasts where it is possible and comfortable to go braless, go for it and your DP can’t really tell you otherwise. I will say though that unless it is winter and everyone is in thick jumpers, it is blatantly obvious when a women isn’t wearing a bra. All breasts (even small breasts) jiggle more without a bra, sit differently under clothes, and of course, the lack of bra lines or bra straps is dead giveaway too. I’m not saying not to do it or that it’s wrong, but just saying that people will notice so it’s up to you whether you’re bothered by it

Genuinely curious! Which one of these am I braless and which one am I wearing a bra? Size XS shirt in both, and a non wired bra in one.

Lweji I measured them out of curiosity after one of the many bra intervention threads on here!

Tell him to jog on.

Furiousaboutinstarubbish · 15/05/2018 09:12

Although I'm not sure you should if not wearing a bra Grin

LemonysSnicket · 15/05/2018 09:25

I regularly don’t wear a bra. Sometimes even at work! They irritate the skin condition on my back and my nips are quite pointy.
I don’t care tbh, they’re boobs not love grenades.

And to anyone asking about sweat, my boobs don’t touch my stomach or have a particular crease so sweatiness isn’t an issue! May have to rethink when they change Condition.

wonkylegs · 15/05/2018 09:35

Umm I wear a bra for MY comfort not for anybody else...
it's not about modesty - that would be my top/ dress etc - that is covering me up not my bra! You only have to look at a bra shop website to see how many bras out there are bugger all to do with modesty

It's about supporting MY boobs or making ME feel the way I want to (comfortable, sexy, supported...)
It's got FA to do with anyone else, if there was a passing comment about a particular top being more flattering with a bra I'd perhaps note it for another time but a general "you should always wear a bra" comment then I'd play the toddler "but why?" Game....
(Answer continually with "but why" until a satisfactory answer is given or they move on to a different topic out of sheer frustration)

If you are working in an office wearing a shirt, or client-facing, how unprofessional would that be.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 15/05/2018 10:12

How is it unprofessional not to wear a bra?

I wouldn't be thrusting them in anyone's face.

ToastyFingers · 15/05/2018 10:43

I've seen a spate of young women going braless lately and I think it's awesome! The look much more comfortable and have a better shape the all hoiked up and strapped down.

Mine are rather saggy and deflated after years of breastfeeding, so I usually wear a bra, but I'd love to go without!

bananafish81 · 15/05/2018 11:04

I'm senior management, on the leadership team

I often go braless

See my PP. I work in an office, wearing a shirt. In the photos I posted I'm wearing that shirt to work today. I am client facing. Can you tell me which one is unprofessional?

ikeepaforkinmypurse · 15/05/2018 11:15

don't be daft, of course it shows in real life, unless you are flat as a pancake. Why do you think most handbook have to state that staff has to wear appropriate clothing?

It's unprofessional in the work place.
It's selfish and out of order when you have teenage kids that you are embarrassing.

Yes, it's just a human body, but nobody wants to see your boobs, your butt, and it would be just as inappropriate to wear leggings at work, or worst, leggings with nothing underneath. It really looks awful when you are walking or worst stuck on an elevator behind people like that.

crispysausagerolls · 15/05/2018 11:17

Ok but come on, you are (in the nicest possible way) not someone who needs to wear a bra. In fact it looks like the right photo is one where you are wearing a bra because there is actually something on show. OP is a C cup, it would be noticeable if she didn't wear a bra. Which I think is her business, but your comparison isn't accurate. If I were you I also would not bother with a bra (which would be lovely!). Someone having their baps free at work is usually noticeable and unprofessional in the same way as wearing a push-up/having cleavage/wearing a tiny skirt is.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 15/05/2018 11:19

'Selfish' to not wear a bra?

That comment my friend, is utter madness.

pretendingtobechilled · 15/05/2018 11:19

Ooh, top trolling! Lol.

Get off that computer NOW, son!

I'm a D cup!

The bra I'm wearing is actually a 30C because most of the styles available in 28D are all desperately unflattering. You are correct that the one on the right is the bra one - but only cos it's padded and push up!

Point being that OP being a C cup is meaningless. I'm wearing a C cup in that photo! A 28D is a sister size to a 30C, which is a sister size to a 32B, and a 34A.

ILikeyourHairyHands · 15/05/2018 11:28

Fact is, I don't need a bra, I'm perfectly happy and comfortable without one.

And I'm not going to start binding my tits up because of someone else's misplaced sense of propriety.
