Told DH I've been having Botox for a couple of years and he's livid

Last night we were at the neighbours and had had a few drinks, and I was chatting to a friend who told me she'd had Botox

I then told her I've been having it for a while and at that point told DH

I haven't told him before as he's made some judgy comments in the past and I thought he'd react badly

He's so annoyed with me for not telling him that he won't speak to me

Is it that bad what I've done?!

They use Botox to treat over-active bladder these days. Presumably they think it's pretty safe therefore.

(They also use nicotine as the delivery chemical for various drugs these days too. That' too is considered fairly safe.)

Bluelady · 07/05/2018 14:48

I'd be asking myself if it was worth the money if even my nearest and dearest couldn't tell the difference.

Nicknacky · 07/05/2018 14:48

I'm well aware of exactly what Botox is and what it is derived from, from those of you who have asked if I'm stupid. I've been having Botox for about four years and did my research which is why I don't over react like some on here.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 07/05/2018 14:49

Why does it make him controlling if he disapproves of it? Or has made some judgemental comments on botox. Maybe he is concerned about someone he loves undertaking invasive treatments, maybe he loves her as she is and likes her growing old gracefully forwent of a better phrase. Maybe he sees the lines and wrinkles as emblems of the trials, tribulations, fun and laughter they have shared.

InsomniacAnonymous · 07/05/2018 14:51

PrimroseTulip "What were your reasons for not telling him before?"

The OP clearly said "I haven't told him before as he's made some judgy comments in the past and I thought he'd react badly"

saison4 · 07/05/2018 14:53

so all the posters who are saying Botox is a poison, I assume you never drink any alcohol, or take any medications. ??

I don't hide drinking or take medication in secret. That comparison is seriously lacking!!!

And yes, If DH would drink and take medication in secret, then it would very well be in issue for me.

Juells · 07/05/2018 14:54

@gamerwidow
I suspect it is this he is angry about rather than the disappointment of finding out his married to a vain silly woman.

Now we see why she didn't tell him, she'd get judgey comments like that. "Vain silly woman" !!! Hmm

AskAuntLydia · 07/05/2018 14:54

It's none of his fucking business.

It's like being angry with you for having had your hair dyed and highlighted for the last couple of years.

There are also risks to hair dye.

AskAuntLydia · 07/05/2018 14:55

What sort of judgy comments has he made?

rollingonariver · 07/05/2018 14:56

Tbh I'd be slightly annoyed my DP hadn't told me but that's all. If he's made judgy comments then he should see why you felt you couldn't say.

Juells · 07/05/2018 14:57

@Bluelady

I'd be asking myself if it was worth the money if even my nearest and dearest couldn't tell the difference.

The point is to have it done so others don't know. If I could afford it I'd have it like a shot.

Nicknacky · 07/05/2018 14:59

I get it beside my eyes. I still have some wrinkles as it's impossible to get rid of them all at that part of the face without using too much and potentially causing damage. It gets rid of about 90% of my wrinkles and makes me look less tired.

Doesn't have anything to do with looking younger!

Skarossinkplunger · 07/05/2018 15:00

I can’t believe some of the attitudes on here. If a bloke had been spending hundreds of pounds on what he saw as ‘his money” on something and hadn’t told his wife he would be vilified.

Bluelady · 07/05/2018 15:00

That's completely illogical - if you look exactly the same it's pointless.

Plasebeafleabite · 07/05/2018 15:00

I don't think women should inject poison into their faces to make themselves look younger

Fortunately for all concerned other women don’t need your permission gamerwidow

Idontdowindows · 07/05/2018 15:01

I seriously cannot stop rofloling at all the people saying that a toxin is not a poison. Grin

Nicknacky · 07/05/2018 15:01

blue Of course I look the same, I just have a few less wrinkles.

Bluelady · 07/05/2018 15:02

So not the same.

Nicknacky · 07/05/2018 15:03

idont I know exactly where Botox is derived from, my issue is the hysterical posters saying "it's poison"!! It not fucking pure arsenic.

Nicknacky · 07/05/2018 15:04

blue The same could be said when I put on lipstick. My lips are different then. Or when I colour my hair.

felicitythemangyfox · 07/05/2018 15:05

"finding out his married to a vain silly woman" 😂😂😂

Plasebeafleabite · 07/05/2018 15:06

bluelady should I not bother getting my hair cut ir coloured because my husband doesn’t notice?

adaline · 07/05/2018 15:09

I really wouldn't be happy if I found out my partner had Botox at a dinner party and that it'd been going on for months.

It's not nice to keep stuff like that from your partner - I bet you he's more upset about being lied to (and embarrassed because you told other people but not him) than anything else. It's not particularly nice that he's sulking but I don't blame him for being upset about how you've acted.

Pooshy · 07/05/2018 15:10

He's just had a go at me for lying to him about it, by not telling him. He's really annoyed that I didn't tell him but then went on to seem disgusted that I've been injecting my face

I also have my thread veins injected and he's fine about that. To me it's a similar thing

So he would have been very judgmental and disapproving of it had a told him in advance - which was what I was afraid of, and why I didn't tell him in true first place. Hmmm
