To think I actually do need to lose more weight? (Photo)

Sick of being told that I don’t need to lose anymore weight. I’ve lost a considerable amount so it does get commented on without me ever bringing it up.

Disclaimer (I know I’m not huge, but I was obese last year and I think it’ll stay with me forever and I’ll always feel big. I also didn’t leave the house showing my stomach)

So interesting the weight and sizing

@thegrumpysquirrel I’m also 6ft5 and my fighting weight is about 55kg and that leaves me at a size 10.
At 57kg I’m a size 12 and don’t always fit in those. I have slim limbs but solid build centre!

Your basic underlying skeleton cannot be adjusted so I don’t care what clothes size I am and OP I suggest you don’t focus on it either

Stay fit and be strong and eat clean low processed foods and stop worrying what everyone else thinks

Notthatwomanagain · 07/05/2018 10:19

Altho I’m not a giant clearly!! I’m 5ft5 Grin

JaiPo · 07/05/2018 10:24

You look good. I am shocked that tyou think you should lose two stone!

I'm about the same as you and I've been meaning to lose 5lbs for about 20 years now I've been planning it

Flutterbyeee · 07/05/2018 10:25

This is purely an ego boosting thread.

WaxOnFeckOff · 07/05/2018 10:29

The majority of people in this country are overweight or obese, we've lost sight of what's healthy weight looks like although it doesn't look the same for everyone. Of course the OP will look "normal" as it's now normal to be overweight. I'm my age group and part of the country, 67% of women are overweight and obese.

SerenDippitty · 07/05/2018 10:33

*I’m 5ft5 and can fit into size 10 jeans (not that it really means anything now with vanity sizing.

I’d like to lose another 2 stone. But when people ask me they act really shocked. *

A stone is equal to a size. So if you want to lose another 2 stone what you are saying is that you want to fit into size 6 jeans. I think that would be too thin at your height.

clothcollector · 07/05/2018 10:39

i'm going to be "contentious", if you are 5 ft 5 and 11 stone 9, then yes, you could do with losing more weight.

but .... In the picture you do look great, there is not a lot of difference to waist and hip, but that's fine, loads of women are that shape. all your weight must be on your boobs , as you dont look like you are chubby in the mid section, in fact, i would be very happy with with your shape!

for reference, Im 10 stone at 5 ft 9 and i feel bulky/ unhappy with my size as my weight collects at my middle and i'm short bodied. i feel more feminine at 9 stone 7.

cardibach · 07/05/2018 11:12

Seren if A stone is equal to a size can you explain why I lost 3 stone and only went down one size? It varies from person to person, I’m afraid.

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2018 11:25

To prove the point her pic is misleading and you can't tell anything, I posted my jeans close up. I attach another one as am just out the gym. Different clothes, taken from further back, with a different pose. The two body images look very different.

Camera angle and pose has a lot to answer for. I'd urge anyone to take a similar shot to thr op and you'd be surprised by the cropped close up image.

These three photos look very different, but all are the same dress size.

SerenDippitty · 07/05/2018 11:29

Yes that’s true. I would also say that there is no such thing as a BMI that indicates you are an ideal weight, 22 I think someone said upthread, because again people vary in terms of frame size and body shape.

PrimroseTulip · 07/05/2018 11:39

Bluntness100 what is wrong with you? Overinvested much, to the point that you saved the op’s photo and went and took your own to compare?

That’s so creepy!

PrimroseTulip · 07/05/2018 11:41

You’re not even standing with your feet together 😂😂😂

But I’ll sure you’ll upload another little collage.

Qwertytypewriter · 07/05/2018 11:42

Op what’s happened to all your skin? If you were obese and now aren’t, do you have much excess skin and if so could that be skewing your body image and also your weight?
Obese, for a 5ft5" woman starts at 13 stone, most people's skin stretches and contracts a reasonable amount. I think you may be thinking of people you see on TV waiting for skin removal, but they have generally been 'morbidly obese'.

Bombardier25966 · 07/05/2018 11:51

I thought @Bluntness100's post was helpful, it demonstrates how different clothes and different angles can make the same size look entirely different.

PrimroseTulip · 07/05/2018 11:57

It’s weird, like I don’t get all the hate. I see people posting photos of themselves publically all the time on social media - for attention and compliments.

And I think so what?! It’s a shit world (image wise) to grow up in so why not just be nice? Or if you think something negative then at least make it constructive.

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2018 11:58

Primrose. I've clearly upset you for some reason. Not sure why.
Anyways, yes, I am standing with my feet apart, to show that different poses, as I stated, show your body differently. And as such, you can't tell much from her pic.

I thought I'd kinda explained that..

And thanks bombardier 😁

jmscp2015 · 07/05/2018 12:00

Some people do just weigh heavier you know. Don't obsess over a number on the scales.
Go by how you look.

I was 12 stone 5lbs here. I'm 5'6
I'm a hell of a lot more than that now after a baby! But I was 10 on top, 12 on the bottom.

I'm heavy! Not particularly muscly either, I ride, do Zumba, no weight training of any sort.

You got “upset” from laughing emojis? Odd.
I actually find it hilarious that you are so invested in this thread. Clearly you are the upset one ...

PrimroseTulip · 07/05/2018 12:11

You never stated you were posing with your feet apart by the way.

I think what you’re trying to encourage is just spiteful tbh. But hey I’m not the one with the ops image saved on my phone.

PompholyxOfUnknownOrigin · 07/05/2018 12:15

I think OP is 9st 11 lb not 11st 9 lb but doesn’t want to own up to a typo.

Bluntness100 · 07/05/2018 12:16

What am I trying to encourage? And I'm on iPad. I simply press on the image, press save image then repost it, it takes two secs. I also clearly stated different poses. I would have assumed from the image I was standing with my legs hip width apart.

I genuinely don't understand what your issue is here.Confused.

Jms, yes agree, you look very slim there. I suspect the op also looks very slim in real life.

Qwertytypewriter · 07/05/2018 12:16

primrose, I also thought you seemed pretty annoyed, rather than amused, as you see now to be saying. Phrases like:

Bluntness100 what is wrong with you? Overinvested much, to the point that you saved the op’s photo and went and took your own to compare?

That’s so creepy!
Do not sound as if you're happy!
The different poses were a very good illustration of the issue, with photos not always showing things clearly. It seemed to really hit a nerve for you, but if you weren't annoyed, I guess you were just being mean for no reason with the 'whats wrong with you're and 'creepy' comments.

DonttouchthatLarry · 07/05/2018 12:22

I can't believe how differently people carry weight. I'm 5'4" (so only an inch shorter than OP) and weigh 9 stone 11 - I wear size 10 bit have a horrific muffin top - if I looked like the OP I'd be very happy! So if she lost 2 stone she'd be around my weight, and I'm not exactly wasting away.

My (very skinny, flat tummied, 5'10") friend keeps saying to me 'oh, you don't need to lose weight, you look fine' but I'm very aware that at 48 I'm carrying the excess half stone in the worst place (have skinny legs but it's all around my middle - classic middle aged spread Grin ).

Another friend and I were both the same height and weight yet I looked 'fatter' than her - she has bigger thighs, hips and bum and a smaller waist so overall it looks more toned than my straight hips, small thighs and spare tyre Wink

PrimroseTulip · 07/05/2018 12:24

But it is weird that you’ve now got the ops midriff saved on your iPad. It is freaky.

Now you’re being all nice about her looking slim when you were posting photos before trying to insinuate she’s fat/manipulated her photos.

XiCi · 07/05/2018 12:42

It's hard to comment on a photo of just your stomach as people carry weight in different places but yes if you're 11st9 then a 2stone weight loss is a good target. I find it really hard to believe though that at that height and weight you are a size 10!
