To think I actually do need to lose more weight? (Photo)

Sick of being told that I don’t need to lose anymore weight. I’ve lost a considerable amount so it does get commented on without me ever bringing it up.

Disclaimer (I know I’m not huge, but I was obese last year and I think it’ll stay with me forever and I’ll always feel big. I also didn’t leave the house showing my stomach)

I love your jeans where are they from?

Just Primark Smile

I’m 5ft5 and can fit into size 10 jeans (not that it really means anything now with vanity sizing.

I’d like to lose another 2 stone. But when people ask me they act really shocked.

My BMI is overweight. But I don’t tend to take much notice of that.

Are you sure your bmi is overweight?

5foot five and a size ten is very small. I'm five eight and a size ten and they ain't big clothes. No matter which way you look at it.

Two stones seems a bit much to lose though.

Handthatrocksthecradlerulesthe · 06/05/2018 22:38

You need to tone up.

There really isn’t such a thing as “toning up”. I could do a million sit ups a day and it won’t make a difference because I still have x% of body fat.

It’s like a cake in a box. You know the cake (abs) will look good but whilst it’s still in the box (body fat) you ain’t gonna see it.

So you're a size 10 and you want to lose another 2 stone?

I think you need to give your head a wobble!

Losing weight is somewhat addictive when you're on a role. You should be aiming for fit and strong...not as skinny as you can get.

It's hard to maintain weight when you're on a role though. You look great.

UpperWallop · 06/05/2018 22:39

What do you weigh? I'd say another 2 stone is too much. You look fantastic.

LucilleBluth · 06/05/2018 22:40

Just posting this picture on a public forum tells me that you have a problem with boys image, posting the pic isn't normal.

Bluntness100 · 06/05/2018 22:41

Why is it not normal? Confused

AuntLydia · 06/05/2018 22:42

How are you overweight at that size? I'm a 14 and similar height and just in the overweight bracket. You look a lot slimmer in that photo than I am (unsurprisingly). I also don't see how you have 2 stone to lose.

Fresta · 06/05/2018 22:43

I'm surprised your BMI says overweight. I look a lot heavier than you and am a healthy weight.

Lougle · 06/05/2018 22:43

Looking at your hand/wrist I think 2st would be far too much for you, tbh. Your bones are already clearly defined as it is. I understand the wobbly tummy - I have it post 3 children, but it's more of a loose skin and lax muscle thing than an excess weight thing, imo.

Mummyoflittledragon · 06/05/2018 22:44

Another 2 stone seems extreme at the size you are in the photo. Maybe look to lose a stone and see how you feel from there.

HicDraconis · 06/05/2018 22:44

Unless you’re an athlete and most of your weight is muscle, BMI isn’t a bad guide.

At 5’5, you should be aiming for 9.5 - 10.5 stone roughly (55-68 kg, I tend to work weight in metric unless you’re a newborn these days!).

You could try some weight type training to tone up and see if you like your shape after that, or continue to lose weight if you can and want to.

Don’t let other people telling you that you don’t need to lose weight stop you if your BMI is over 25 though. People often say that for a variety of reasons; as a compliment, from concern that you have lost a significant amount and they feel they should too but can’t, as something generic to say when they don’t know what else to say. Get yourself to the weight you feel most comfortable at. And well done on the current loss!

aquamarine1 · 06/05/2018 22:44

I'm about that size too OP and know exactly what you mean. I need to lose a stone.
Well done on your weight loss!

Grilledaubergines · 06/05/2018 22:44

op you have a lovely figure. You don’t need to lose anything but I think it probably takes time to adjust to the ‘new you’.

If you were to go to your GP and tell them you wanted to lose 2 stone, I think they’d be very concerned.

AuntLydia · 06/05/2018 22:45

That tummy doesn't look wobbly, it looks toned!

Glaciferous · 06/05/2018 22:45

How much do you weigh? I am a size 8-10 and the same height with a similar tummy, which is probably a little wobblier than I'd ideally like it to be. If I lost two stone I would weigh 6 stone which absolutely is not healthy though I could definitely do with a bit of toning up! I definitely think a size 10 at 5'5" is well within healthy weight territory.

Dobby1sAFreeElf · 06/05/2018 22:45

Whilst BMI is fallible, if you're in the overweight category and aren't comfortable with it then by all means continue dieting. 2 stone seems a lot though. I'm 5'5 and 2 stone just in overweight would have me very close to underweight.

FWIW I am healthy BMI and fit into Primark's size 6 jeans. I rarely fit into size 6 anything anywhere else.

I lost 6 stone to get to current weight and had a lot of people telling me similar to you throughout most of my dieting. Now I get it pointed out to me if I gain a few pounds. You can't win Confused

Handthatrocksthecradlerulesthe · 06/05/2018 22:46

Oh I am, which is why I do weight training etc

OliviaBenson · 06/05/2018 22:46

You look fine in that pic. What's your weight op?

Handthatrocksthecradlerulesthe · 06/05/2018 22:47

Strangely my wrists have always been skinny. At my heaviest I carried all my weight on my stomach and thighs.

Handthatrocksthecradlerulesthe · 06/05/2018 22:48

I’m probably around 11 stone 9

OP posts:
salsamad · 06/05/2018 22:49

I'm 5ft 5 and size 10 jeans/skirts and size 12 tops (32 E bra) - I weigh 9 st 6 and my BMI is 21.9 which is mid way in the healthy weight zone - actually being overweight at our height starts at 10 st 11 or a BMI of 25.
At my thinnest I've been 8 st 12 and I looked thin and gaunt - face looked too thin.
You are slim and definitely not overweight. I appreciate it's hard when you used to be overweight (I used to be a size 16) but I think you need to stop setting yourself targets now and just eat healthily and exercise to stay fit.

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/05/2018 22:49

What's your BMI OP?

I think you look great but yes, you could lose more and still look great and not underweight.

I'm currently a BMI of exactly 25 so technically not overweight but I could easily lose another 2 stone. I do need to do more exercise to improve my general shape, but I'm aiming for a BMI of around 23. I'm currently 12 stone and 2 pounds at 5' 9 and a bit. Pre kids (and in my 30s not not a teenage weight) I was 9'3, so still 3 stone more than I was then. I have been up at 15 and a half. I think people don't realise how little a stone can make to your general shape sometimes. I'd like to be about 10 and a half stone I think.

pinkhorse · 06/05/2018 22:50

Are you sure you're 11stone 9? I'm the same height and weigh 9 stone 8 and wear size 10!

trixymalixy · 06/05/2018 22:51

You do not need to lose weight, you have a lovely figure. Losing 2 stone would be seriously excessive.
