To think I actually do need to lose more weight? (Photo)

Sick of being told that I don’t need to lose anymore weight. I’ve lost a considerable amount so it does get commented on without me ever bringing it up.

Disclaimer (I know I’m not huge, but I was obese last year and I think it’ll stay with me forever and I’ll always feel big. I also didn’t leave the house showing my stomach)

You look great, OP, and I don’t believe you weigh as much as that. I’m 5ft 6 and my heaviest weight was 11 stone eight. I wore size 14 bottoms, 12/14 tops. I looked fleshy. You don’t. I now fluctuate between ten stone and ten and a half, depending on time of the month, holidays etc, usually sitting around ten stone three, and wear a 10 top, 10/12 bottom. Even at my biggest I always had a smaller waist, flattish stomach, but my arse practically had its own postcode.

Qwertytypewriter · 06/05/2018 23:26

I think you have a kind crowd for on here OP! I've seen people told they definitely need to lose weight when they look pretty slim before.
I think you're fine as you are, but probably heavier than your 'perfect' weight as per the charts of weight for height. I'm similar in build, and not content with my shape and size, but other people seem to think I'm in quite good shape.

GorgonLondon · 06/05/2018 23:35

Yes, you could definitely do with losing a bit of weight, and that is reflected in your BMI. You'd also benefit from toning and lifting weights. Well done on no longer being obese - great job!

AhhhhThatsBass · 06/05/2018 23:42

Think you look great. Doesn’t matter what the internet thinks though, I hope you believe it.

redastherose · 07/05/2018 00:17

OP I think I am a similar body type to you, I weigh much more than my friend who is a similar height due to a different bone structure (I think). I would be painfully thin at 9 stone 9 and a size 8. My ideal weight is around 10 stone 5 when I am a slim size 10. So you are not wrong in wanting to lose more weight but I wouldn't bother talking about it too much to other people as they won't necessarily understand.

imweirdandcool · 07/05/2018 01:46

you look great

Poshjock · 07/05/2018 02:03

It’s so frustrating when you’re on a Weight Loss plan and people tell you to stop dieting “you’re fine” “you’ll look too skinny if you loose any more”. Sometimes I think they’re projecting their own frustrations at being unable to loose weight. Maybe a form of jealousy? I too was obese and it was a long time before I was ready to confront it and do something about it. I was 13st 8 at 5,6” My goal was 10st 4 which would be BMI 23. But at 11 1/2 stone ish I was getting so many people trying to waylay my efforts. So demoralising! It took my just over a year to achieve it. Currently I’m 11st 3 and I’ve just started again to get back down to 10st 4.
My answer to those naysayers was “I have a goal I’m going to reach, what’s the point of running a marathon and stopping at 20 miles to say ‘that’ll do’?”

TireSwing · 07/05/2018 02:13

I would love a midriff like yours, OP!

Aylarose · 07/05/2018 02:32

I would love to be as slim as you are again.

At 11st 9 and with an overweight BMI then perhaps consider losing 9lbs-1 stone but try not to be obsessive about it!

Aylarose · 07/05/2018 02:33

Oh also I was 10st 7 and a size 10 at 5ft 6 two years ago but lost control and now am much much heavier and an 18. Don't lose sight of how far you've come.

Littlechocola · 07/05/2018 02:36

You look fine. Do you feel fine?

OverTheHedgeHammy · 07/05/2018 02:49

I don't think Jeans are a particularly good measure of size tbh. If they are a low cut pair of jeans, your size 10 jeans could well be either a size 12 or 14. I have a pair of size 14 jeans, but I'm actually size 18 in other clothes.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 07/05/2018 03:00

Well you've got what you want a load of people telling you how amazing you look.
The words compliments and fishing come to mind.

Lotuslots · 07/05/2018 03:07

You want compliments. Cant be bothered. Get over yourself.

OverTheHedgeHammy · 07/05/2018 03:09

What nasty, spiteful posts, Awwlookatmybabyspider and Lotuslots

nokidshere · 07/05/2018 03:14

My teenager is very skinny but his body fat (according to him) is around 15%. His aim is to get it to 10% which would give him defined abs. He weightlifts 5 days a week and eats a high protein diet and his weight rarely changes but his body fat % is reducing nicely.

He tells me this is the way to go.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 07/05/2018 03:16

If you care so little why post eh? Oh right I forgot, some people just enjoy being jealous nasty.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 07/05/2018 03:35

Yes, you do

tiddliewinkiewoo · 07/05/2018 03:36

Being totally honest (and you asked for opinions going so far as to post your photo) you've done fabulous to lose so much weight but I agree with you = you could do with losing a little more but in the main you should 'tone' up.

I would aim for another loss of half to a stone = your thighs are chunky but maybe your jeans are too tight so giving the wrong impression that you have back and side fat?

mathanxiety · 07/05/2018 04:42

If you're 5'5" and 11st9, where the heck are you carrying it?

Go down another stone, assuming you haven't misread the scales, and see where you stand after that.

Do some toning and lift weights. Muscles weigh a bit more than other tissue but don't be despondent - ultimately more muscles means more efficient metabolism, so a positive circle gets established.

Laserbird16 · 07/05/2018 05:20

It is very difficult to say aim for X pounds of weight loss to anyone I've never met in real life. Honestly you look good now, you've achieved a lot already. How about focussing on the process and not the scales for a bit? By that I mean, how's your diet? Are you getting 5 veg a day? Drinking enough water? What's your training like? Do you have goals like running a distance/lifting weight? Getting 3 sessions in a week? Where's your head at? Are you proud of your achievements and progress or are you down on yourself for not being perfect yet? I think if you focus on that for a bit you will either continue to lose weight or you will just get better habits and both of those outcomes are good. Then reassess in a few months. Normal is quite a wide range!

chimpandzee · 07/05/2018 05:38

OP well done on your weight loss. I'm the same height as you, and weight 9 stone 5 now, a few years ago at my heaviest I was almost 16 stone. I remember having gone down to around 11 / 12 stone and despite everyone commenting on the weight loss I still felt I could lose more, and did so over time. I wouldn't say you needed to lose it but if you want to, then I don't think you'd be too thin or underweight, however 2 stone might be too much (or it might not). Just go by how you feel, and whether or not you can lose more healthily and safely (not by crash dieting or starving yourself).

ScaredPAD · 07/05/2018 05:43

(Chimpanzee I'm close to where you started And losing that kind of weightg feels overwhelming (I'm making the effort though.) Any hints or tips??)

rwalker · 07/05/2018 06:08

Get where you are coming from but think what you would be best doing is forget about weight and go for measuring arm, waist and thigh and work on each area with specify excerise to get results you do carry you weight very well and form that photo don't look 11st 9 . Being blunt if you carry on and loose another 2 st that will be 4 st in total and you will start to sag

seventh · 07/05/2018 06:42

If you feel you need to lose some more weight, go for it.

Another Two stone will make you look haggard and ill , IMO, but perhaps that's the look you're aiming for?

I think some curves look lovely
