To think I actually do need to lose more weight? (Photo)

Sick of being told that I don’t need to lose anymore weight. I’ve lost a considerable amount so it does get commented on without me ever bringing it up.

Disclaimer (I know I’m not huge, but I was obese last year and I think it’ll stay with me forever and I’ll always feel big. I also didn’t leave the house showing my stomach)

It's hard to tell tbh with that photo.

Bluntness100 · 06/05/2018 22:52

What do you mean "probably" about 11 stone nine?

runningdesperately · 06/05/2018 22:52

I think you look good! Very hard to assess tummy size or shape from 1 photo like that though, side on is useful to get a realistic idea. That said you're good as you are, you defo don't need to lose its just if you wanted too it might make more sense if a side pic showed your tummy slightly sticking out or something.

rookiemere · 06/05/2018 22:53

OP you’re roughly the same height and weight as me - but I’m definitely not a size 10. At this weight I look fine in structured clothes particularly fitted work dresses and ok in jeans and tops - but I’ve definitely got a muffin that I don’t like and wouldn’t wear a bikini at the minute

I don’t look fat dressed but I don’t look thin and i’d like to lose a few pounds. At the end of the day it’s up to you what you do. They do say its best for your health to be within a normal BMI range - but its also healthy to maintain your weight loss rather than regaining so may make more sense to focus on that.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 06/05/2018 22:54

@HicDraconis

"At 5’5, you should be aiming for 9.5 - 10.5 stone roughly (55-68 kg"

55kg is 8.6 stone and 68kg is 10.7 stone
(X 2.2 / 14)

I'm 5,5, and am borderline underweight at 55kg (size 4) look great at 57 (size 6), ok at 60 (size 8). Over 60 (9.4 stone) I no longer look slim, and over 63-4kg (10st, size 10) I look overweight. But it very much depends how much muscle mass you have and your body shape.

From your photo I'd say 2 more stone down is a lot. Looks like only a small layer of fat to cut left. 1 stone should do it easily.

MrsCatE · 06/05/2018 22:54

You have great abs! I am so jealous!!! Please don't go by weight, measure YOUR difference. I weigh bugger all for my height and carry loads more flab than you!

TheGrumpySquirrel · 06/05/2018 22:55

Oh sorry just seen you're 11st9. You don't look it. I would have thought you look around 10st or so at your height.

AuntLydia · 06/05/2018 22:56

I think you are vastly over estimating how much you weigh. That's about what I weigh and I'm 2 sizes bigger than you and a damn sight chunkier.

TheGrumpySquirrel · 06/05/2018 22:58

Vanity sizing is insane these days. A size 10 in some shops is now basically a 14, and a size 6 is a "true" 10.

PeanutButterLips · 06/05/2018 22:59

I'm 5"6 and wear a size 14.
I'm 12 st.
I'm curious, if you're 11st 9lbs and wear a size 10, where do you carry your weight?
I am more pear shaped and carry a lot from stomach downwards but can wear a size 10
top.

Glaciferous · 06/05/2018 22:59

I would have guessed you were about 9 and a half stone give or take a few pounds. Are you very muscular, what with the weights etc? Because that can skew weight and BMI. I definitely don't think you need to lose two stone. If you are unhappy at your current weight, I'd aim to lose a few pounds and reassess then.

numptynuts · 06/05/2018 23:00

If you're doing weight training your weight will be more. Muscle weighs more.

I think you have a lovely figure, just the right shape and healthy looking. Great midriff and slim.

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/05/2018 23:00

I'm 12' 2 and taller that the OP and I wear 12/14. I'd say I have a medium frame. I looked perfectly fine at 9'3 and wore a 10/12 - that's a 3 stone difference for 1 to 2 sizes. I've been 3 and a bit stone heavier and was an 18 at my heaviest. A stone really doesn't always make as much difference as you'd think.

Bluntness100 · 06/05/2018 23:01

I'm 5"6 and wear a size 14

Agree, I'd have assumed at 5 foot 5 and 11stone 9 then that would he more a size 12-14 for most folks.

Op, could you be wrong on your weight? Are you very muscular?

Handthatrocksthecradlerulesthe · 06/05/2018 23:02

No I’m definitely around that weight (fluctuates by a couple of lbs etc). I have scales at home and the gym ... so they can’t both be wrong.

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/05/2018 23:02

Muscle weighs more. A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat. It is however denser so takes up less space on your body so you should look thinner at the same weight.

DamsonOnThisDress · 06/05/2018 23:04

You were obese last year?! That's remarkable!

Honestly you look fantastic. Struggling to see where you could lose any more and certainly not 2 stone.

You have done amazingly. Be careful you don't get carried away. If you think you need to lose more (but you clearly don't) maybe you are starting to get carried away which after your obvious hard work is understandable.

Just maintain what you have done and be very very proud of yourself. That really is amazing.

HicDraconis · 06/05/2018 23:04

@TheGrumpySquirrel you’re totally right - my conversions from kg to lb and back aren’t as good as they should be!

The kg weight is the accurate one from my post OP, go by GrumpySquirrel’s stones.

55kg will give you a bmi of 20 at 165cm, 68 will put you at 25. I’d aim (personally) for around 65kg or around 10 stone. So you don’t have two stone to lose (although you could do so and remain in the healthy zone) - go for 1.5. Only if you want to!

xln55 · 06/05/2018 23:05

hey, i don't think you need to lose weight but yeah of course if you want to be thinner, like I'm sure pretty much we all do, then you can try but only for yourself.

But I would always suggest join an activity class, a sport or dancing or something where there is a social element. Going to the gym is good but gets boring after a while, but doing something with people you know or will meet, you have a schedule, its fun, good exercise and doesn't feel boring.

Jason118 · 06/05/2018 23:05

You look delightful IMHO

MrsCatE · 06/05/2018 23:07

Please see previous message. You have lovely womanly thighs plus a waist! You go in and out (as a woman should) and have definition in your abs. People think I'm small and even though I'm a gym bunny, I don't have your nice tummy!

WaxOnFeckOff · 06/05/2018 23:08

At 5'5 OP would be obese at around 13 stone, It's easier to be obese than you think.

OreoMini · 06/05/2018 23:09

Op I normally hang around 11.5lbs ish and I wear a size 10 jeans and 10 top.

I’m also roughly 5’6 and a half.

But iv just come back from a holiday so Iv put some weight on 🤦🏼‍♀️

fabulousfrumpyfeet · 06/05/2018 23:11

Hmm, you look similar to me and I'm just below over weight (according to those chart things). So I would say you can afford to lose weight but strictly speaking don't need to. You have a lovely shape, I'm a bit jealous Grin

OreoMini · 06/05/2018 23:12

If you want to lose the weight then go for it. I’m not happy at 11.5 but I also like eating and I hate the gym Grin
