To think you shouldn’t stink of sweat at the gym?

At the gym this morning, finished my workout on the treadmill and there was a man there that smelt so badly of BO, he wasn’t even that close to me.

Fresh sweat doesn’t smell. Stale sweat does.

He probably didn’t shower beforehand. I work out then shower.

There's a guy that goes to classes at my gym and he stinks too. He wears joggies and a hoodie on top of his other clothes so no wonder he sweats!

Yes and I sweat in the gym. I also shower after my workout and put on clean clothes.

I then wear clean workout clothes when I next go back.

I’d only smell like that if I was wearing the same gym clothes repeatedly without washing them.

I imagine he got up and went straight to the gym and planned to have a shower afterwards.

Yanbu. I'm sure fresh sweat doesn't smell, although maybe it's down to a medical condition. We have a few people like this at my gym. I assume they're wearing unwashed gym kit or haven't showered for a day or so.

Sweat has an odour, fresh or not. It could be the clothes he was wearing, some seam to stink once they get to a certain temperature of not washed carefully.

There's a guy that goes to my lower limb rehab class that absolutely stinks Sad I feel a bit sorry for him but more sorry for the physio working with him. I can smell him across the room.

After running I don't smell, but after a HIIT session I do. Fresh sweat DOES smell, well some people's does!

My karate senseii used to have to tell some blokes to wash their kimonos - sometimes they wouldn't for weeks and it smelt AWFUL.

So I'd say he probably is wearing dirty gym clothes.

People should have personal hygiene and should not stink, anywhere, ever. Sadly some folks are filthy.

Yes, of course sweat smells, and I feel like I stink after a workout. I don't stink the whole place out and neither do the people I train with.

Sport clothes can smell badly if not washed properly, but you can buy specific detergents.

I think it's ok to wear gym clothes more than once between washes, they only get work for an hour or so, so it seems a waste of time energy and money to wash them between each session. I sort of assumed that the gym is the one place where you aren't expected to smell fresh as a daisy!

Rubbish. No sweat smells. BO comes from the excretions from the bacteria that feed on your sweat. Fresh or unfresh sweat is a non argument.
Plenty of people can get smelly from a long workout from the sweat on their skin. It can be caused by what they eat. You could easily smell like that in clean clothes if you had eaten something, didn’t shower and apply deodorant before hand, or even if you did.

Sweat definitely smells!

DP wears clean cycling gear when he goes out, but he still whiffs when he gets back in afterwards. Some people are just smellier and sweatier than other!

Some people come out of the shower smelling, because of a bacteria living in their pores. Some people only stink if the sweat is stale.

Gym clothes can be worn again if you're not a stinky person - just hang them up to air. But you have to sniff carefully to be sure.

I agree, I can usually get three wears out of mine before there's the slightest smell, and then I (usually!) wash them.

My stuff is washed after every use. No way could I wear it again after my classes. I may occasionally get an extra use out of a sports bra but not anything else
