I confiscated dds phone, she's found it and I've just caught her using it, punishment?

She must have gone into my knicker drawer and found it hidden there. I've just caught her in her room using it. She tried to hide it. I took it away, shut the door and I've come downstairs. Haven't said anything.

I feel really disappointed in her. I wish I'd never given her the bloody thing, she's completely addicted to it. I've never known her to be underhand and sneaky like this.

Obviously the phone stays hidden somewhere else! Wwyd?

She's 11 about to be 12.

Double the initial time you were going to keep it for.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 19/04/2018 21:15

The latest phone related punishment is to let dc keep the phone but not the charger.
Watch them panic as the % gets less and less!

TheSpottedZebra · 19/04/2018 21:15

Cancel the contract and replace with brick phone?

Out of curiosity, why did you take it away first time? That was obviously a punishment, but for what ?

Fruitcorner123 · 19/04/2018 21:16

I think I would extend the length of the confiscation and maybe remove the data from her contract?

I suppose it depends if she needs it for school.

What was it originally confiscated for?

Sarkyharky · 19/04/2018 21:17

I took it away on Sunday night as she said she was doing homework, then when I went in to her room at 9pm she was on her phone and still hadnt done her homework. I said I was taking it away until Friday so she could concentrate this week.

take out the sim or battery and hide them away from the phone then if she finds it again it wont work.

GreenTulips · 19/04/2018 21:19

Amature phone hider! You need to be more inventive

Sarkyharky · 19/04/2018 21:19

Good idea. It's an old iPhone don't think I can take the battery out

I'm really sad that she's gone rifling through my room looking for it.

Sarkyharky · 19/04/2018 21:20

Yes rookie error. Didn't think she'd have the gall to nick it back

NapQueen · 19/04/2018 21:20

Just tell her you are keeping it til 1st May. On 1st May insist it stays downstairs for the month so she comes down to use it. If she cooperates she can have it back properly 1st June. If she doesnt the phone is donated elsewhere.

NapQueen · 19/04/2018 21:21

If you work take it in and lock it in your desk drawer.

Sarkyharky · 19/04/2018 21:21

She's supposed to be going into town with friends after school and ringing me to collect her.

OP posts:
Sarkyharky · 19/04/2018 21:22

Yeah I will take it to work tomorrow

I haven't said a word to her yet

Phones / tablets are like crack. Honestly they affect the dopamine receptors in the brain.
If she needs a phone to contact you, get an old fashioned one with buttons. Then she can only text or call.

Sarkyharky · 19/04/2018 21:23

Yes she is completely addicted.

OP posts:
Fruitcorner123 · 19/04/2018 21:23

Sounds like she isn't going into town tomorrow because she won't have her phone.

I would say keep it for the whole of next week and then have a permanent ban on phones upstairs.

GreenTulips · 19/04/2018 21:23

Well she can borrow a frienda phone
Or prearrange a time/place or catch the bus or use a payphone

Don't fall for that one

Colabottle10 · 19/04/2018 21:23

Well I'd be cancelling her going into town with her friends tomorrow for nicking it.

NapQueen · 19/04/2018 21:23

So say "I will be at X at 6pm. If you are not there then you will loose your weekend. Here is my mobile on a bit of paper. If you are in danger or there is an emergency then borrow a friends phone"

Sarkyharky · 19/04/2018 21:23

She absolutely loves music though and listens to Spotify through her phone. How can she do that without it?

OP posts:
Colabottle10 · 19/04/2018 21:24

Tough! Get her a radio!

NapQueen · 19/04/2018 21:24

We she should have thought about that before she snooped. She can listen to the radio.

Hippee · 19/04/2018 21:24

I hide mine in the kitchen between two lasagne dishes - DS hasn't found it yet. Feel your pain though - he's 11 too and addicted.
