To sing an adapted version of Blurred Lines to my cat?

Cause she's my good girl?

She is my Cookie. My Cookie kitty.

I don't restrict my songs to Cookie. The others enjoy variants of My Humps. They are my lovely lazy lumps.

I attach a photo so as not to drip feed and you can assess my reason or unreason adequately. I welcome other suggestions and information on how else I could sing to them.

Genuinely not performance cat-servanting.

I don't want to objectify her or raise her with body image issues. Should I sing Joni Mitchell songs to her instead?

I have no idea if YABU or not but you should call it "Purred Lines"Grin

TheCatofAthenry · 11/04/2018 07:25

@FairyDogMother11 you are a genius! Do you sing to your dogs?

Cats are generally pretty clear about their rules of consent TBH - as such I’m not sure she’ll appreciate it.

Have you considered Feline Good? (Nina Simone).

ScreamingValenta · 11/04/2018 07:29

I sing 'The muh-nuh-muh-nuh' song to mine but insert the word 'puss' at random intervals Grin. They have long since become accustomed to my madness.

TheCatofAthenry · 11/04/2018 07:31

@LadyLaSnack you make a valid point. I'm wondering if the fact that the song is more about feeding them a treat changes things? Or does the essence of the song remain the same?

Cookie and I have strong feminist views and I hope to have adapted the lyrics appropriately by June 2019.

My Dp likes to belt out ' I cat live, if living is without mew' at our cats

I like 'ive got 99 problems and you cause most of them' to both the cats and the children

AlonsoTigerHeart · 11/04/2018 07:43

Also the classic
Sweet dreamies are made of cheese

Butterfly1066 · 11/04/2018 07:47

I feel the need to rush home and sing my lovely lazy lumps to my cats because they are

TheCatofAthenry · 11/04/2018 07:55

@Butterfly1066 they will appreciate it!

I like the Sweet Dreamies idea.

I have also been through a few versions of Mandy.

mimibunz · 11/04/2018 08:02

I sing a version of Lola (she was a show cat, she would meringe and the cha cha). The Bunz walks away from me every time.

TheCatofAthenry · 11/04/2018 08:06

You're a good cat! You are me Cookie. My Cookie kitten.

You're the nicest cat in the place!
I feel so lucky.
You like to hug me.
And claw and bug me.

If you can't hear what I'm trying to say,
I'll think you're going deaf, or maybe going blind.
Meow meow meow meow meow meow.

Very sophisticated lyrics indeed! They vary by the day.

When our cat was a bitey, scratchy launch kitten we would sing The Automatics song - Monster. 'What's that coming over the sofa ..... is it Brutus, is it Brutus'.

He is called Brutus.

Scribblegirl · 11/04/2018 08:16

I rap at my cat Blush

His name is Percy. I've adapted 'Jus a rascal' by Dizzee Rascal so the line is 'he's just a rascal, he's just a rascal, he's just a rascal, Percy rascal'...

KC225 · 11/04/2018 08:18

Percy Rascal

What a brilliant name for a character.

Helpthem2018 · 11/04/2018 08:19

Rolling rolling rolling, keep them moggies rolling, rawhide!

smurfit · 11/04/2018 08:22

I sing to my dog all the time. I can't recall any offhand because it's spontaneous depending on whatever is stuck in my head. But she's fluffy so 'fluffy puppy' features a lot.

DarkRosaleen · 11/04/2018 08:26

We sing Cat Ni Dhuibhir.
My puss is called Roisin Dubh. So she really insists on being addressed as gaeilge.

starryeyed19 · 11/04/2018 08:26

I bloody love all of you

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 11/04/2018 08:46

"What's new Pussycat? Woahhhhowoooahohwoooaho!!! " Grin

IfyouseeRitaMoreno · 11/04/2018 08:53

I sing “Smelly Cat” to mine. But then she is called Phoebe.

Winosaurus · 11/04/2018 09:06

We have a duck called jemima (obvs the best name for a duck EVER)
Anyway we sing Dua Lipa’s latest song “I don’t give a f*ck” and change it to duck.

You say you’re hungry
But it’s too late now
So save it, quack on, shut up
You think I have more duck feed here
But girl I don’t give a du-u-u-ckkk

Ivegotnothing · 11/04/2018 10:33

I've always sung to mine - My older girl gets Hey Mickey - changed to Hey Minnie :) 'it's cats like you Minnie'....
