To sing an adapted version of Blurred Lines to my cat?

Cause she's my good girl?

She is my Cookie. My Cookie kitty.

I don't restrict my songs to Cookie. The others enjoy variants of My Humps. They are my lovely lazy lumps.

I attach a photo so as not to drip feed and you can assess my reason or unreason adequately. I welcome other suggestions and information on how else I could sing to them.

Genuinely not performance cat-servanting.

I sing to our dogs, and I dance with them occasionally.

Jeepers creepers is the favourite at the mo

ChristmasEnthusiast · 11/04/2018 11:18

Soft puppy, warm puppy
Little ball of fluff.
Happy puppy, sleepy puppy.
Wuff, wuff, wuff.

His name is Ozzie.... naturally I was singing this to him at 8 weeks when he was tiny:

If ever, if an Oz there was
The puppy called oz's best because
(Because because because because)
Because of the wonderful things he does!
It's time to feed the Ozzie,
The beautiful puppy called Oz!
(Feed replaced with bath, walk, chase, catch as appropriate).

So happy to have found cat people on MN! I sing whatever Motown song I'm into and insert one of my cats names and he/she will look up. I hv a multi-cat household, kept them since I was 4.

Some people are neutral about them, and that's fine. But those who say they definitely cannot stand cats (or any specific animal) need to be watched. I think they are probably pervs - something is not right with them.

AwkwardPaws27 · 11/04/2018 11:32

YABU to use that song. I hate it. Gives me the rage.

Mammalamb · 11/04/2018 11:32

I do the same with my dog. “You’re a good dog. You’re really fluffy, you’re really fluffy” “what do doggies dream of when they do that leg thing? What do doggies dream of? You’re the cutest dog in this park”

TheHodgeoftheHedge · 11/04/2018 11:35

I have found my people!

Beamur · 11/04/2018 11:36

We have a song we sing to one of our cats, based on a comedy song - I can't say more in case anyone I know in rl reads this. Too weird and outing. Grin Cat loves the attention..

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/04/2018 11:36

KC I sang "Monster" to DD regularly from the moment she was born, and she'd just as likely come running to Monster as to her name! I love her really! Grin

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 11/04/2018 11:39

Winosaurus all female ducks should be called Jemima.

viques · 11/04/2018 11:41

Sung with feeling then lalalalalala because I can never remember the lyrics even to ancient old classics.

ToastyFingers · 11/04/2018 12:02

I used to adapt Lou Reed's satellite of love for my ol' boy.

Dum dum dum
Pussycat of love
Dum dum sum.

We like an adapted song at chez-Toasty though. We have a very good one about a ham sandwich.

MarkBorrigan · 11/04/2018 12:07

I sing to my dog all the time and with certain songs she'll sing back to me. She only has the hear the first three bars of 'only the lonely/only the floofy' by Roy Orbison and she goes crazy. She also LOVES anything by Morrisey.

caoraich · 11/04/2018 12:08

I sing "purr machine" to mine to the tune of Girls Aloud's love machine Blush

You're just a purr machine
I feed you your fishy tea
Give me a kiss or three

You need a squeeze a day
Then you will claw my face
What will the neighbors say?

At the neighbours point I usually point at whichever cat I'm not singing at.

I am thankful that as yet, no human has caught me doing this...

caoraich · 11/04/2018 12:12

Oh Beamur you have to tell us now!

I used to sing the monty python lumberjack song to my border collie. He would howl along when I got to "go to the lavatoreeeee"

paddypants13 · 11/04/2018 12:13

I sing an adapted version of the Edie McCreedy song from Balamory to mine.

"I'm Purdey McGurdy I love to snooze."

And

"Call on Purdey, Purdey McGurdy"

We used to sing Baby Bird, You're gorgeous, Robbie Williams, Something beautiful and Following you around to our dear departed dog. They could have been written about my precious boy.

Cakeycakecake · 11/04/2018 12:23

My ds sings ‘coz you’re a good good girrrrl... you know I love ya, I really love ya... coz you’re a good good girrrrl’ on repeat to our cat Blush outing. But my 5yr old is awesome lol

DramaAlpaca · 11/04/2018 12:31

Loving this thread Grin

I used to have a dog called Daisy. I'd sing 'Daisy, Daisy, give me your answer do...' to her. She'd howl along with me. It was our party trick, made all the better because my singing voice is rubbish. Oh, I miss that dog.

I sing to my other animals all the time, but none of them joins in.

SpringNowPlease2018 · 11/04/2018 12:33

I really want a cat and now I want to sing to said cat.

Ollivander84 · 11/04/2018 12:34

Mine gets
"Got your ears, got your fur, got your food, got your mouse, got your blankie, got your bed, got your huuuuman" GrinBlush

TerfsUp · 11/04/2018 12:49

I sing 'Bohemian Rhapsody' to my cat, adapting the lyric to "thunderbolt of lightning very very frightening...you' and then giving the cat a big squoozle.

To my dog I sing “you had your chance, you blew it” from Since you’ve been gone by that Kelly whaterface when he doesn’t immediately recall and so doesn’t get a treat
When I go out on the back patio to clean up after him I sing Poo (Paw) Patrol
I have a cat called Lola - “ her name is Lola, she is a fat cat, with lots of fluffy hair and a belly down to there”

prince55bananahammock · 11/04/2018 12:55

I always sing to my cats - I'm sure they think I'm bonkers but it makes me happy!

Outfoxed · 11/04/2018 12:56

My cat Nacho gets a lot of “nacho nacho cat, I wanna be a nacho cat” (macho man).
And anytime the dog tries to sit in our laps despite being a huge fat lump we sing, in her voice, “anything cats can do I can do better”

SpringNowPlease2018 · 11/04/2018 13:05

Perfectly - oh thanks!

I have a strange feeling cats won't be too keen on that one. Think they probably like lyrics.
