To sing an adapted version of Blurred Lines to my cat?

Cause she's my good girl?

She is my Cookie. My Cookie kitty.

I don't restrict my songs to Cookie. The others enjoy variants of My Humps. They are my lovely lazy lumps.

I attach a photo so as not to drip feed and you can assess my reason or unreason adequately. I welcome other suggestions and information on how else I could sing to them.

Genuinely not performance cat-servanting.

FairyDogMother11 · 11/04/2018 21:25

@TheCatofAthenry I do sing to my dogs, I get the sense they'd rather I didn't though Grin

PenguindreamsofDraco · 11/04/2018 21:26

I sang Baby Got Back to mine. I like big cats and I cannot lie Grin

DontCallMeBaby · 11/04/2018 21:33

It took me years of singing ‘Sausaaage, Sausaage!’ to one of ours before DH finally took the bait and finished ‘Sausage, the bush kangaroo!’

SausageCat instead of Smelly Cat (he is, alas, sometimes a smelly cat).

They both get ‘He’s a cat and he’s okay, he sleeps all night and he sleeps all day’.

Plus a variety of ad hoc numbers - this is actually the only time I sing in front of anyone, singing to the cats.

LightDrizzle · 11/04/2018 21:35

My lovely bulldog got “Hey there you with the sad face, come back to my place ...” a lot. Also “Did you happen to see, the most beautiful dog, the most beautiful dog in the world? And if you did, was she cryyyying?”
She wasn’t visibly flattered.

ThatDamnedDog · 11/04/2018 21:42

Not only do i serenade to my two beloved dogs, I also dance for them Blush
They get whatever I am listening to on cd or Kerrang music channel. They seem to think I'm nuts appreciate this Grin

Triskaidekaphilia · 11/04/2018 21:46

I sing adapted versions of Carry on Wayward Son and Mandy at my cat.
Shock I sing Mandy to my cats too, obvs substituting thier names. One has a two syllable name, the other has three so it's more difficult Grin

Brendaofbeechhouse · 11/04/2018 21:52

I sing ' hey did you happen to see the stupidest cat in the world, no you didn't because he's hiiiiding

'I want to be Bobby's girl' becomes 'I want to be Brenda 's cat, I want to be Brenda's cat, that's the most important thing to me, and if I was Brenda 's cat what a faithful thankful cat he'd be '

And 'Stupid, Stupid the cat, stupid the cat, he doesn't know his name'. To the tune of Rupert the Bear.

Bluesmartiesarebest · 11/04/2018 23:19

Based on a cartoon I saw:

Raindrops on kittens and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kittens and warm woolen kittens
Kittens and kittens and kittens and kittens
These are a few of my favourite kittens

Also:
Wild cat
You make my butt fat
You make everything....
Fluffy

We do a voice for our house rabbit. He often bursts into song. Or insults one of us. Or comments on something that we’re watching on TV.
That’s normal isn’t it 😳

LittlePaintBox · 12/04/2018 00:22

My last cat used to walk out of the room staring at me reproachfully if I sang.

I tell this cat I love him quite a lot Blush

FASH84 · 12/04/2018 00:28

I feel like I have found my spiritual home! I sing to my cat all the time, especially monster, lovecats, and also sometimes my hero (foos) as he walks away, interspersed with lyric changes to reference biscuits, fish, his nemesis the white cat next door (Taylor swift bad blood) and the glove puppet he has carried around like his own kitten for the last seven years.
What's that coming over the hill? Is it a puppet? You want some biscuits...?

DH thinks I'm insane. I also pick him up and dance with him, he loves it, or is just accustomed... I often ask DH what he thinks said cat is thinking about, because I would genuinely love to know. Usually he just shrugs, but sometimes he says he's thinking you've completely lost it now.

Sloegin2 · 12/04/2018 00:44

Instead of ‘This is the greatest show’ from the greatest showman I sing
“These are the greatest pups
That I’ve ever seen
Standing in front of me,oh! These are the greatest pups!”

Wigglywigglywooo · 12/04/2018 01:00

We sing to the tune of Bamboleo...”Teddybinooooo, Teddybino. Da da Dee da da da da da da da dahhhh!” (At which point he gets bumbled up and bounced around)

We also have a terrible habit of whistling the Peter and the Wolf tune as he walks around the house. We imagine this would be his personal theme tune!

And I cannot for the life of me get my DH to stop doing the Lion King lift and singing Aaaaaaahhhhhhhh sevenyaaaaa! (He’s 32 😳) haha!

snowagain · 12/04/2018 01:08

@fairydogmother

I have no idea if YABU or not but you should call it "Purred Lines

Grin
alltoomuchrightnow · 12/04/2018 03:16

DeltaG, me too..

alltoomuchrightnow · 12/04/2018 03:17

What are kitty cats made of? What are kitty cats made of? Sugar and spice and all things mice.. (he brings me lots of mice)

alltoomuchrightnow · 12/04/2018 03:21

God gave mice and voles to you,
He gave mice and voles to you (sung as Kiss,...the band that is, not kissing)

alltoomuchrightnow · 12/04/2018 03:22

and (Joan Jett)

I love mice and voles
Put another shrew in the jukebox, baby

(mine is a country cat so rodents are usually the theme of songs..)

Keilninnock · 12/04/2018 03:58

We also talk about their food...would you like a mice cream..🙈

AccidentallyRunToWindsor · 12/04/2018 07:24

We hum the circus music at one of ours because we are convinced there is nothing in her brain

SchadenfreudePersonified · 12/04/2018 08:56

This is the most wonderful thread I have ever read

CuppaTea86 · 12/04/2018 09:19

Our cat is named Pig aka Piggie Smalls after the rapper.
His song is:
Piggie Piggie Piggie, can't you see? Sometimes your purrs just hypnotize me.

He usually ignores me.

GaspodeWonderCat · 12/04/2018 10:42

She's the Izzy, pretty little Izzy, she's the Izzy whizzy woo ...

In the car, cat ignores us, MIL thinks we are daft we are

bluetongue · 12/04/2018 10:51

Yes, my Whippet gets his own songs.

Pink’s ‘What about us’ became ‘What about pups’ and starts ‘ we are puppies, we’re running so fast’.

Also, because he’s a fussy eater I sing ‘don’t be afraid about dins (dinner)’ instead of ‘don’t be afraid about feels’. Grin
