I know this might not sound a big problem to a lot of people but I have a constant female moustache shadows on my upper lips. I don’t even have a problem with hair it’s juts this constant blue/ grey tinge that has got worse and worse over the last couple of years.

I don’t smoke I’m not on birth control and don’t have any hormone issues I’m aware of. I’ve tried home remedies, chemical peels and led light treatments, vitimans and every expensive covering foundation on the market from £6 to £45 and nothing hides it.

I’m so so self conscious of it now. I’m not making eye contact with people even walking to my car all I can think is of the shadow. I see people staring at the area also.. when I cover it I use peach/ red liostick then concealer and then foundation and it still is there ...

I’m getting desperate. My partner hasn’t said a word but I seem him looking at it almost in shock .. I didn’t have this a couple years ago when we met. I’m so sick of hiding my face with my hands, not having confidence to even look people I know in the face.. and worst all I cannot even cover it and go about my day... please help! Does anyone have this problem ? Could my Gp help!

Well even with magnification I still don't understand the issue. Skin is not one uniform shade all over, unless you are moulded from plastic.

Anyway, assuming no one is inspecting you with a huge magnifying glass. Please seek psychological help, being honest about all your thoughts and behaviours. It's not normal, and it us no way to live.

You are not being mental. I never really worried about it but after successfully having bikini Laser, did my upper lip. My face changed and I hadn't even realised how the shadow affected my face.

Both you and your dermatologist will be looking at your skin from a few millimetres away thisclose probably with bright lighting and a magnifying glass!
In a nice, supportive way I wouldn't notice anything about your lips if I saw you in real life from that photo, although I might notice the bright red lipstick! Probably most people if they are looking, are looking at the lipstick or the fact you are hiding your mouth behind your arm like Dracula :)

OP it makes me sad that you’ve been expending so much energy worrying about this.
Hope you can get it under control as it’s such a waste of your youth and beauty!

I can't see it at all. Since the menopause I get actual long stray hairs at both ends of my upper lip and often forget to tweezers them out. It doesn't horrifying me though. People I know will actually point them out to me...It's just hairs. I wish people would stop overreacting to stuff like this.

It doesn't happen now that I am an old lady, but all through my 20s people would stare at me, sometimes do double takes and i was miserable with worry about what was wrong with my face. I would scrutinise it in the mirror, and ask friends - do I look funny/weird???
It was only when I caught up with an old boyfriend from that time that I said, it was odd how people used to stare at me when I was young - whatever it was, I must have grown out of it. He said - you idiot - it was because you were so good-looking, people couldn't believe their eyes. I dug out an old photo album and (please allow the vanity of an old gimmer), I did look pretty nice. What all this rambling is about, is OP, that I think people are looking at you because you are very pretty and they are admiring you. Don't waste any more time worrying about this imaginary thing on your upper lip.

Another who genuinely can't see anything at all! Just held it to light, tilted phone.....nothing!

Lady you are beautiful! That will be why you have people staring/looking. You have such a lovely face (and no moustache).

I tried to take a selfie to show that a bit of pigmentation is normal but a) it was too outing and b) I actually do have a moustache and the sideburns to match. Honestly, though, no-one cares. No one has ever cared except for certain unkind teenage girls. I don't care. DH doesn't care.

You don't have to be airbrush perfect to be beautiful Smile
