Mother's Day for step mums

I'm a step parent to two teenagers. We have the usual ups and downs of family life and although I've never been a natural parent, I do my best for both of them. They spend 50% of their time with us and I do their cooking, cleaning, and other motherly duties for them whilst they're with us. I've never wanted to be their mum, they have a perfectly good one, but I do quite a lot of chores that a mother would do.

My AIBU is to ask if you think it's unreasonable to be recognised in some way on Mother's Day? I don't mean a card, although step mum cards are available,
I don't expect anything but think a small bunch of tulips (for example) would be a nice gesture. Just a token of appreciation on this day. They're teenagers so appreciation is rare!

I've been with their dad for several years and never had anything so not expecting anything this year either. AIBU to be just slightly upset?

I have two grown up step children, their mother was and is a disaster, and I did the lions share of the mothering. When they were younger they didn’t do anything for me for mother’s day, as I’m still not their mother. I don’t think they feel very positively about the title to be honest. Now they are adult, I got a heartfelt card and chocolates from one, and the other messaged me to moan about his work and ask to borrow money, and didn’t mention it at all. But then he’s moaning and asking because I’m the parent he wants to speak to when he’s pissed off. Both responses are fine by me, I’m secure that they love and appreciate me, and that I did and do my best by them.

I would feel a bit uncomfortable if my step kids gave me a Mother’s Day card, my 15 yr old DS2 is made to sign his step mums which pisses me off a lot actually as I have brought him up alone and she had an affair with his dad while I was PG - I think I have been a bloody good mother and yes she has him every other weekend but only because she married his dad!

My step children are adults in their 30’s with children of their own. I’ve known they for 13 years so no parenting was done by me at all.
I’m very much a part of the family and love their children as my own, have lovely cards and presents on my birthday and Christmas and they always tell me how much they appreciate what I do for them.
However, a Mother’s Day card is not something I’ve ever received from them or would expect. They lost their mother as young children and are always sad on Mother’s Day. It would probably make them feel even worse if they felt an obligation to buy me a card.
