IWD today, obvs, so one guy on our team work messaging chat (about 20 people on there) shared this pic. What banter eh.

I replied saying ‘sorry I don’t get it Confused - can you explain the joke’, and he’s said that he will explain to me tomorrow at work, the delight that he is.

Cue others on the chat offering to book a meeting room, film it, send a company wide invite etc so we can all witness his explanation.

I feel like just watching him squirm in front of the whole team won’t be enough, so I wanted to plan a line of questioning or whatnot that would maximise the enjoyment for all involved, except for him, and not make me look like a humourless fun sponge in the process.

Ideas?

Please begin by correcting his grammar.

TheQueenOfWands · 08/03/2018 20:20

I thought it was funny.

ScreamingValenta · 08/03/2018 20:21

Tell him he "could "of" used the correct grammar ... "

Talkingfrog · 08/03/2018 20:23

No ideas sorry, but good luck and I hope you have fun.

ShortandAnnoying · 08/03/2018 20:25

Bring in an iron and hit him round the head with it?

Birdsgottafly · 08/03/2018 20:25

How did he send it, on a Work email?

I think making him explain it to a few of you and then deciding if you want to take it further, will be enough.

AdaColeman · 08/03/2018 20:26

Don't waste your time on him.

DalekDalekDalek · 08/03/2018 20:27

Whatever you do, please record it so we can all enjoy!

Rainboho · 08/03/2018 20:27

-that made me laugh too-

uncoolnn · 08/03/2018 20:28

Just to echo some PPs, whilst he's explaining this to you, please pull him up on the appalling grammar.

Rainboho · 08/03/2018 20:29

FFS strikethrough fail.

WobbleHead · 08/03/2018 20:29

Ah he’s a thoughtless idiot, not a case for HR. I thought about downloading IWD school activity sheets and making him colour them in etc in front of everyone.

I think the grammar just adds another dimension of facepalm really.

IPokeBadgers · 08/03/2018 20:31

Oh dear. What a total bellend. And yes, please do correct his grammar.

ThePinkOcelot · 08/03/2018 20:32

I think it’s funny as well. He didn’t say woman should have ironed it did he? You’re not one of those professional offended are you?!

AdoraBell · 08/03/2018 20:33

YY to take an iron in. And get him to iron a crumpled piece of paper as his demonstration. Then move on to the grammar.

Whatshallidonowpeople · 08/03/2018 20:33

It needs to be nipped in the bud. Je thinks it's a joke but it is things like this that hold back women. Report to hr and make them deal with it. If you accept this you are as much to blame as him.

overnightangel · 08/03/2018 20:33

Placemark

Squishysquirmy · 08/03/2018 20:33

No good suggestions but think how you replied was a fantastic way of handling it....
Making him squirm but in such a way that you don't come across as "humourless" etc. I'm going to remember that tactic in case I need to use it myself sometime.

statetrooperstacey · 08/03/2018 20:33

It's not 'his grammar' he hasn't written it.
It's a face book thing that he has just shared.
I thought it was funny.

SteamyBeignets · 08/03/2018 20:34

FFS lighten up. I find it funny.

19lottie82 · 08/03/2018 20:34

Really? Lighten up........ I thought it was quite funny!

MrMeSeeks · 08/03/2018 20:35

Thought it was funny too

WobbleHead · 08/03/2018 20:35

Seeing as the last time I picked up an iron was to hand it to my OH, no I’m not personally offended. But you’d have to be pretty thick to not see it as a sexist joke.

Perhaps a bit tasteless to make fun of international women’s day, is all I thought, seeing as, you know, VAWG and structural inequality is still a huge issue?

Leave the notice up and correct the grammar. Give him 1/10.
