To ask if you give grandmothers "mothers day" cards from their grandchildren?

I haven't, I never have...i get my mum a gift and card from me, and my husband does the same for his mum. And my kids are helped with a card/gift for me. I should add, I never sent/was made to send my grandmother's cards or gifts on mothers day either.....is this a new thing? I get on well with my mum and MIL so would hate to think they are upset at not getting something from my kids if it's now the done thing, but it just never occurred to me as, well, they aren't my kids mum!

I do it for my mother - ie buy card, stamps and get my children to write and post a card. The fallout from my mother if this didn't happen simply wouldn't be worth it.

AllertonRoad · 07/03/2018 16:53

Yes, and my aunties who don’t have children too - I spend a fortune!

TeenTimesTwo · 07/03/2018 16:54

No. Seems weird. Grandmothers have their own children, they don't need to co=opt the grandchildren too.

PotteringAlong · 07/03/2018 16:55

No. The clue’s in the name...!

SuperLoveFuzz · 07/03/2018 16:56

I do. My mum and dad are really involved in DDs upbringing so I get them a card and a little something from her on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

Laniakea · 07/03/2018 16:58

no.

I send my mum a card from me & dh sends his mum one (I think!). That's it.

jaseyraex · 07/03/2018 17:00

I do. I don't think I ever did for my grandparents growing up though. My mum is truly wonderful and the only person we have to help out with the kids. I usually take her for lunch and help DS make her a card. I'd love to make a fuss and treat her more but I can't afford to, so it's nice to be able to do it on this day.

Strugglingtodomybest · 07/03/2018 17:00

No. It's Mother's Day, not Grandmother's Day.

SnibbleAgain · 07/03/2018 17:02

no

Trinity66 · 07/03/2018 17:03

Yeah I do because my mom loves cards and it makes her happy

KriticalSoul · 07/03/2018 17:05

I do, but we live with my mum and she does a hell of a lot for them.

stargirl1701 · 07/03/2018 17:05

My DC make cards for their Grans but I don't buy anything.

I send a card to my Godmother. My mum has been dead for over a decade. We generally have a family meal with PILs.

mirime · 07/03/2018 17:07

I always gave my gran one. I get one from DS to DM if I remember.

Chattymummyhere · 07/03/2018 17:08

Nope. It’s mothers day morning grandmothers days. Same on father’s day.

Chattymummyhere · 07/03/2018 17:08

Mother’s Day not grandmothers that should say.

Moominfan · 07/03/2018 17:09

Yea she's really happy about. Doesn't cost much so Why not

HotCrossBunFight · 07/03/2018 17:10

I do. My grandmother was in many ways a bigger part of my life than my mother. We don't celebrate grandparents day or anything though.

TefalTester123 · 07/03/2018 17:11

No. I noted Great grandmother cards in the shop this morning. Am thinking of asking for no card for myself, it's all got so OTT.

Floralnomad · 07/03/2018 17:13

No , but my ds ( adult) gets one of my sisters and my mum a gift because he wants to ( and because he stays over night there about once a week and they look after him which is more than I do apparently) , he doesn’t get them a card .

eddiemairswife · 07/03/2018 17:16

I'm a grandmother and certainly don't expect cards from grandchildren.
Some years ago, on the Monday, a girl in my Y6 class whose mother had died gave me a little posy she had got from church the day before.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/03/2018 17:16

Is this a thing?Confused Seems an odd notion to me. Yes send your mum something because she's your mum, she's not the mother of your children.

Tawdrylocalbrouhaha · 07/03/2018 17:17

I always do - I buy my mum a "To Granny on Mothers' day" card and this year DS (3) was old enough to decorate the inside himself. She is an amazing grandmother, and having never had a grandmother myself it has been wonderful to see them together and has brought a new dimension to my relationship with her.

EsmeeMerlin · 07/03/2018 17:18

I do, it makes them both happy and both are lovely nan’s.

I also buy for my nan. I lived with her on and off from the age of 10 and she had custody of me from the age of 14. In a lot of ways I am closer to her than my mum so I like to treat her on mother’s day.

Tefal I also got my nan a great-grandmother card Blush she just had ds1 for 5 day’s while I was in hospital with ds2 and she is his favourite nan so I was quite pleased to find a card for her from the boys.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 07/03/2018 17:18

That's really made me sad Eddie! Very sweet of her to give you the posy but how bloody heartbreaking?Sad

melissasummerfield · 07/03/2018 17:19
