Anyone else got serious cabin fever being stuck in due to snow?

So we're all stuck in the house, Dh working from home, 3.5 yr old off nursery and me...slowly going mad! Have been baking, colouring etc..but dd has spent a lot of time watching t.v so am feeling guilty. May brave the -4 outside and take her for a walk. Anyone else feeling like they're going crazy? Praying that there's no more snow tomorrow!

They've cancelled the bloody circus we were booked for! Forty quid up the swany if we can't get there tomorrow either.

There's worse going on of course, but spending the day trying to find things to do AND explaining over and over to a disappointed four year old why we're not going out tonight after all has not been fun.

It's so bloody cold. It's been snowing horizontally all day and the lane out front is impassable now. Word has it the co-op is empty so there's no point in off roading down there anyway. sigh.

Juddy I hope you understand that you have flouted the unquestionable expertise of the Government today

You obviously don't understand. She's not in a red alert area if the schools will be open tomorrow and she'll be going to work, so not flouting anything. Though the expertise is in fact unquestionable
You're neither right nor funny Hmm

Polarbearflavour · 02/03/2018 08:59

Been inside for 24 hours, can’t risk falling over and breaking another bone! Work is shut, no buses or trains here - all cancelled. DP is stuck in a military base as the roads there are treacherous Sad

squirrelonapetridish · 02/03/2018 09:31

Raining here now (never been so happy to see rain)but still saying not to drive as roads are still icy and could be freezing rain. Right, let's try and think of some more indoor activities!

Yes, hate being cold. I wish I was at work instead of at home feeling alternately guilty about not working while I try to parent/not parenting while I try to work.

SnowBusinessLikeSlowBusiness · 03/03/2018 16:07

For all those chuntering about how hilarious it was that in another country the government advised pretty much everyone to stay inside and off the roads, and how people were stupid sheep for listening: look at the aftermath. Where that happened, no deaths and no serious incidents. In the "carry on and do as you like UK", 14 deaths, thousands trapped in cars and on trains and all over, endless incidents that needed emergency response.

Not so fucking funny, was it? Hmm

Isjaki · 03/03/2018 16:13

Well at least you get to gloat. Isn't that nice...

Isjaki · 03/03/2018 16:14

In the "carry on and do as you like UK",

And actually, there was plenty of official advice given re. not making unnecessary journeys etc.

SnowBusinessLikeSlowBusiness · 03/03/2018 16:17

Not gloating, just pointing out the people who were being total dicks about it look even worse now. They were on sniggering at people who took official advice seriously and calling them idiots. Hope they feel ashamed of themselves,

cardibach · 03/03/2018 16:19

I live and work in a boarding school. We’ve been trapped on site with the boarders for 2 and a half days now. It’s beginning to feel like a weird version of Big Brother! I’ll be glad when school opens properly again.

Isjaki · 03/03/2018 16:22

I don't think anyone needs to feel ashamed. They didn't contribute to these deaths. I think their point was it's okay to look out the window and make your own judgement call. Hopefully it’s a life skill most of us still possess.

Flutterbyeee · 03/03/2018 16:24

No way!! Being with my boys has been fun. Laughed until we cried. Been amazing. Shocks me how many parents go into blind panic as they have to deal with their own children

SnowBusinessLikeSlowBusiness · 03/03/2018 16:27

I don't think anyone needs to feel ashamed

Then you obviously didn't read their nasty, smug and dismissive posts to a few people. They should be very ashamed of themselves.

LanguidLobster · 03/03/2018 16:30

Yes, I just put green eyeshadow on out of sheer boredom.

I'm going to go for a walk.

GrannyGrissle · 03/03/2018 16:40

Yes. Snowed in since Tuesday, DD is 4 and i am a cripple so venturing out would be a twat's manouver.
Trapped in yesterday waiting for Liberty bloody gasman to fix boiler which decided to die on us. Ditto today (council property i am very lucky blah blah blah but DD has glass lungs and i'm terrified she will become ill if they leave us in the cold too long). Beginning to think the snow is a terrorist attack, some evildoer has the power to make snow on a massive scale then dump it on the uk and is running off in glee mwahahahaing right now.

WickedGoodDoge · 03/03/2018 17:05

I thought I had cabin fever. Then I took the dog out for a 1hr 15min walk. He had a great time. I froze. I don’t think I will ever think I have cabin fever again. Grin

SinceWhenDid · 03/03/2018 18:22

See, I don't interpret "Don't go outside" as don't even play in your garden or on the pavement or even down at the park. Bur more as don't travel.

crunchymint · 03/03/2018 18:33

We went out for about half an hour. Long enough. Bloody cold.

LanguidLobster · 03/03/2018 18:55

Actually I found a walk didn't help much either. Back home with coffee and cream now.

SinceWhenDid · 03/03/2018 19:50

We really don't have much snow though it has been cold. I sent mine out to play and stayed in the warm myself Grin

QuestionableMouse · 03/03/2018 19:55

I spoke to a real human being in person today for the first time since Monday.

And then it started to snow again... I'm fucking sick of it now. It took me almost 40 minutes to dig the car out.

Seriously tempted to drive home in the morning for some company.
