Anyone else got serious cabin fever being stuck in due to snow?

So we're all stuck in the house, Dh working from home, 3.5 yr old off nursery and me...slowly going mad! Have been baking, colouring etc..but dd has spent a lot of time watching t.v so am feeling guilty. May brave the -4 outside and take her for a walk. Anyone else feeling like they're going crazy? Praying that there's no more snow tomorrow!

And you are an epic sheep. Wooooh ‘the government’

Yeah how stupid people are to listen to the advice of experts to keep their children safe and alive. You're such an individual you take your toddlers out in a blizzard just to prove a point. Hmm

pinkbraces · 01/03/2018 14:54

hahahah "Some of us have been told to stay in by the government" that is very funny.

Seriously people, just use your brains.

pictish · 01/03/2018 14:56

I don’t have toddlers, but thanks.
As a person experienced in outdoor pursuits in terrible weather, I think I can handle the decision of whether or not to go out in the snow for a walk with the kids myself.
If you need told, that’s fine.

Binkybix · 01/03/2018 14:56

My big ones still at school but I’ve got the little one. My gym with a pool and hot tub is two minutes away and proving handy!

ivehadtonamechangeforthis · 01/03/2018 14:57

I have a 16 month old and a 2.10 year old and we're stuck in a one bed flat the size of a postage stamp and I am going batshit crazy! I can only cope with living in a one bed flat because we go out EVERY day! We're always out either walking, or going to soft play or groups or visiting family. Thank god this isn't meant to last much longer!

tinkywinky2018 · 01/03/2018 14:58

Seriously people, just use your brains

yes, by following official advice from experts.

Parker231 · 01/03/2018 14:58

Have been at work during the day but been for a walk in the park in the evenings - lovely fresh air. Slept really well this week.

LollaLaLuna · 01/03/2018 14:58

Why don't you build a snowman together, if you have a garden? My kids love snow and were happily playing outside this afternoon, actually I couldn't get them back to the house.😅

crunchymint · 01/03/2018 14:59

Go outside then. Even it is too deep for a toddler, you could give them a piggyback and go a very short walk. It is beautiful, but nowhere is it too deep for an adult to be outside.

tinkywinky2018 · 01/03/2018 14:59

If you need told, that’s fine

I don't, the point you epically missed was to the people telling everyone not to be so wet and just go out and play in it. I said some of us should absolutely not do that.
You misunderstood and were rude and offensive. You can read back and then apologise.

ivehadtonamechangeforthis · 01/03/2018 14:59

We haven't even got a lot of snow literally just a dusting but it's -5 and everyone has colds

crunchymint · 01/03/2018 15:00

And no way do healthy people need to stay inside. My elderly parents are staying inside and that is sensible. If one of them fell they would have problems standing up again without help. But honestly people are pretty pathetic with this.

crunchymint · 01/03/2018 15:01

So what it is minus five. Bundle them up and get out even for a short while.

squoosh · 01/03/2018 15:02

I've really enjoyed being out in this weather with the cars off the roads. The world feels a lot more peaceful.

tinkywinky2018 · 01/03/2018 15:03

And no way do healthy people need to stay inside

They absolutely DO in some places. Newsflash, not everyone lives where you do. Conditions are very different in various places.

crunchymint · 01/03/2018 15:04

Newsflash - snow is deep where I am.

tinkywinky2018 · 01/03/2018 15:06

great, is it also gale force winds so strong that branches are coming off trees, a zero visability blizzard and dark in the middle of the afternoon?
Because it is where I am. so stop saying there is nowhere that people shouldn't be out having a nice walk.

ivehadtonamechangeforthis · 01/03/2018 15:07

Crunchy I would, I honestly would normally, but they're both full of colds and conjunctivitis.

stuffstuffeverywhere · 01/03/2018 15:07

Yes, @crunchymint toddlers are so pathetic. They're clearly just pretending not to be able to walk in deep snow and red, watery eyes from driving snow is nice and bracing for them..

Riverside2 · 01/03/2018 15:08

yes, majorly

I have had a couple of big injuries and don't go out on icy pavements etc unless I really can't avoid it

round here is horrible now and I don't think any chance of a thaw till Sunday

i have weights etc for a home workout but I still miss having a decent run outside. Blech. Also I have asthma and these temps set it off.

I wonder what marathon runners are up to, they must be in peak training mode..?

Garmadonsmum · 01/03/2018 15:09

Well mine were bundled up and the walk was somewhere hampered by the tears of the five year old who did not want to be outside, not just with snow underfoot but snow in his face, eyes, we could hardly look straight ahead so it was more of an ordeal than a treat. If it actually stopped snowing and the sun came out it might be pleasurable.

Getoffthetableplease · 01/03/2018 15:10

Feeling fed up here. I have a cold, 18 month old has a cold and 7 year old is climbing walls. We tried to play out yesterday but the baby cried the entire time and kept shouting at the snow 'mess, mess, nooooooo' and the eldest had a nice enough time but doesn't want to do same today. The dogs are refusing to go out in it, even for a wee. Dh is working from home and getting constantly frustrated at noise. The walkable shops have nothing in, my food deliveries from town were cancelled this week. I have to walk a couple of miles to work in the evenings, last night was zero fun. Oh and the bin men haven't been able to come to get the general waste so it will be a month between the collections. Non of it is anyone's fault, but it doesn't stop me from feeling meh about it all.

Bowerbird5 · 01/03/2018 15:10

No, we've just been to the pub! We had lunch and a couple of drinks. Several other locals in, families warming up before going sledging in the back field where our kids used to go. Someone in to borrow something from pub. They couldn't accomodate but we could. We've got a good bit of snow here and unless you have a four wheel drive or a tractor you can forget it. Very small village so no shop but that encourages neighbourliness in these times. Pub was shut yesterday as no one could get in so locals are supporting them Grin only a few doors away so don't have to worry and back home to stoke the dreaded wood burner! Cosy. Going to watch channel 5 film now then bake pear crumble for tea. Beautiful picture outside like a picture postcard in our village. No bread but I have flour so will make some if we need it. Happy days. Hope it is a snow day tomorrow.

newyearwhoohoo · 01/03/2018 15:11

I'm in London so first proper snow for a few years on Tuesday. I was like an excited kid. Grin Boots on and headed off for a walk with teenage DC. Slipped on an icy pavement and fractured my leg. Now inside looking at the white stuff with a cast for at least 6 weeks and on standby for surgery for pinning and metal plate.
No more snow fun for me Angry
