Anyone else got serious cabin fever being stuck in due to snow?

So we're all stuck in the house, Dh working from home, 3.5 yr old off nursery and me...slowly going mad! Have been baking, colouring etc..but dd has spent a lot of time watching t.v so am feeling guilty. May brave the -4 outside and take her for a walk. Anyone else feeling like they're going crazy? Praying that there's no more snow tomorrow!

Sure, 8 hours is fine. But since Saturday with a baby to entertain has been hell - not to mention the fact that it's unlikely I'll be able to get out before Sunday at best. I'd imagine most people who have 'cabin fever' have been stuck in significantly longer than 8 hours.

Nine people dead now in the UK. Whole towns cut off, people stranded overnight on motorways, people snowed in with no access to supplies or essential care.....

I have at least used this opportunity to potty train No accidents for the past 3 days, woo! Started on Saturday. So. Doubt we'll go to nursery tomorrow, would have sent him today but he had a temp. DS1 needs to go out every day but doesn't like being cold or wet so that doesn't really work DS2 is just a teeny 3 month old so tucked them both up in bed this afternoon for (yet more) screentime. I cleaned the bathroom and DS1's room.

Talk about productive, Bendy!

We have been playing in the glorious snow

Reality: They played for 5 minutes before going blue and screaming to come in

We have been baking in the kitchen

Reality: The kitchen is now a shit storm mess to match the rest of the house

We have been doing crafts:

Reality: They nearly killed each other fighting over the 'yellow' oven clay. Since resolved, put the clay in the oven forgot all about it whilst cleaning up said kitchen, and all their precious creations are now blackened and charred beyond recognition. Another howling momentous ruckus as they find said creations buried in the bottom of the bin.

We are all sitting in our white company PJ chilling:

Reality: Someone stinks of BO and hasn't brushed their teeth in a while

Duvets on the sofa:

reality: I feel like I am bloody homeless and/or a student with a hangover minus the good time that came before.

They have some free time to enjoy their toys and imagination:

Sorry that was badly worded. We live in a skiing area and children will be up skiing in those conditions. It isn't that bad all the time, but it is scottish skiing so... grin

Oh - our ski resorts close their lifts in blizzards because it's so windy. Don't they do that in Scotland?

I just have that wonderful thing called empathy. You know, the ability to recognise that for various reasons some people are not having a great time in the snow. Smugness is much less becoming. Be like me, normal and capable of empathy. It even beats playing in blizzards...

I am thinking gin and tonic is the day forward at 6pm - at least we are not short on ice

Yep I am so bored. I miss work and my routine.

Had some hot chocolate and whisky about an hour ago and feeling a warm glow now. Still bored shitless..All schools and workplace closed tomorrow, in for the the long haul chaps.

Youcantgetherefromthere - yes high wind speeds do close the lifts but one of the resorts has a lift which can run in up to 80mph winds. And it all depends on which direction the wind is.

I have honestly been up skiing with small children in the conditions I describe. Coldest I remember was -27 windchill. It was -41 today but hill shut. Too much snow...

Wrapped the DC up and we’ve been out in it twice. Not for long as we got cold but the snow is too exciting to stay indoors and we’ve got loads of it.

I never understand people being bored when they are not at work.
We went out briefly and the snow is great, but the wind is biting.
