To find ordering in subway stressful

Elizanotlittle · 24/02/2018 13:10

Just asked my oh what we should have for lunch suggested a KFC or a quiche from a local patisserie.

He suggested subway. It gave me the rage.

I actually don't mind the food but the ordering process and all the questions actually raises my anxiety levels. Especially if you want more than one sandwich.

I mean you can't just order and wait you have to constantly speak and wait and the queue always takes ages.

Aibu? Anyone else?

Until that horrible video came out with the employee stuffing lettuce up his nose

That could happen anywhere, in any restaurant, or factory. You’d never eat anything, anywhere if you worry about things like this

itsbetterthanabox · 24/02/2018 21:21

My Dad is the same as you. I find it funny.
I don't get how it's that confusing. I imagine you hate Starbucks too?

sonjadog · 24/02/2018 21:25

The employees stuff lettuce up their noses? Why?

Clem7 · 24/02/2018 21:25

I’ve got used to subway for the most part, but i wish staff could get it into their heads that some people might not want their sub toasted. I always feel like I’m having to coax someone suicidal away from the edge of a building.

Ordering for multiple people is a nightmare tbf.

Sparklingbrook · 24/02/2018 21:36

It's more annoying than confusing. More trouble than it's worth.

Our local one is sandwiched (see what I did there) between Dominos (online ordering)and the chippy though so it's all good.

'A small portion of chips please'. Couldn't be easier. The only question is 'salt and vinegar?'. The End.

Ski40 · 24/02/2018 22:35

Yes it was in the news a few years ago. I have worked in a few bars and restaurants and have a lot of gross stories to tell, hence I only eat in restaurants where the kitchen is in full view haha.

Elizanotlittle · 24/02/2018 23:21

I actually don't mind starbucks not as many questions and easy to order several things.

I went in once. I wanted a cheese salad sandwich. They put 2 tiny pieces of cheese on a roll. Would I like it toasted? No thanks. They put it under the grill anyway which just made the minuscule pieces of cheese disappear into the 'bread'. So I ended up with a soggy piece of bread with some soggy salad next to it (not in it). I was so disappointed.

I don't see the point of subway if they won't actually make the sandwich you want.

Starbucks is fine for me too even though I refuse to use their venti etc. made-up speak out of principle, it's just pretentious bollocks. So far medium and large was understood, nice to see people not brainwashed into ignoring normal words.
And they have pretty straightforward menu, unlike Subway. As I already wrote, I find them highly overrated when it comes to taste, just like McDonalds. No idea how they manage to make proper food tasting like plastic.

Skarossinkplunger · 25/02/2018 09:33

clandestino A Venti is around 20 fluid ounces. Venti is Italian for 20. Make sure to tell the Italians that their entire language is ‘made-up’.

The veggie patty is lovely!

So is the southwest sauce.

DagenhamRoundhouse · 25/02/2018 17:57

Subway is awful, both times I've visited and vowed not to go back!

Sara107 · 25/02/2018 18:19

Our local Subway is hiring - anyone fancy a career as a 'sandwich artist'?? It obviously takes a creative crew to ask all those questions!!!

Annette69 · 25/02/2018 18:21

Never been in a subway or eaten their food, never eaten KFC either.

incywincybitofa · 25/02/2018 19:07

My DC love Subway and I have persuaded myself it is healthier than a burger joint
DS has his sandwich he knows it, he has planned it out- DD is limited by the kids menu
I rarely eat there, but if I get very confused I go for Sub of the day.

almostbutnotquite · 25/02/2018 19:34

I’ve only been to subway a couple of times but the choice is baffling. And how do people know what sauce or bread goes with what, and what they taste like? Is it just trial and error?

ItsNotUnusualToBe · 25/02/2018 19:38

The one and only time my DP went into a Subway, he was slightly traumatised!! He had no idea what to expect, it was in NYC and the teenagers he was with thought it was hilarious.

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 25/02/2018 21:50

Not entirely sure what making a choice not to order in Subway has to do with my ability to cope with real lif but oddly enough I cope fine Greendale, thanks for your concern thoughHmm

Echogirl · 26/02/2018 02:31

First world problems😁
I'm glad I'm not the only one who panics the very off time I go there😉

Echogirl · 26/02/2018 02:34

Odd Wink

Broken11Girl · 26/02/2018 03:11

Subway is disgusting, cheap nasty processed crap.

IceBearRocks · 26/02/2018 03:32

Bloody hell people ....you get stressed b Subway .....don't live my life with two disabled kids!
Somebody get very these people a grip!!!!(

insancerre · 26/02/2018 06:58

Ice bear
Its not helpful to negate peoples feelings because you think your life is harder
You don't get to dictate to people how they should or shouldn't be feeling
Just because you have disabled children doesn't mean other people can't feel anxiety at other things

Chocrock · 26/02/2018 08:16

I saw cockroaches running around in there once - I haven’t been back since.
