Peak P&C space rage!

Argh. Just whipped DD up to the shops to get some nibbles for our guests who are arriving shortly. The spaces at this particular Waitrose are very tight and I'm very pregnant, so did need a P&C spot.

There was one left, so I headed for it. But nooo - some tool in a wannabe sports car zoomed the wrong way up the one way bit and parked in it (badly). Door opened and a young couple got out. No baby. No child. I assume no disabilities as there were several empty disabled spaces even nearer the shop.

I had to get DD out at the side of the car park and then park, as there was just no way I could do it in a normal space. The worst thing was, as I was struggling to do so, I saw them heading off... THEY WEREN'T EVEN GOING INTO FUCKING WAITROSE!!!!!

Am I wrong to wish the plague of a thousand traffic wardens upon their heads?

Max - I once read about someone who got £4 an hour to crawl on the roofs of London buildings shovelling pigeon shit into sacks. that's the only job I can think of that's worse!

nineties - obese people can get jogging and dieting and lose weight. It would help the NHS out too.

DadDadDad · 24/02/2018 11:16

And that's why I keep saying, don't tackle the CF, speak to the store and so tackle the problem with those who have the power to solve it properly.

FlouncyDoves · 24/02/2018 11:18

beepthemeep those people that have to use chisels and saws to break up the fatbergs in London’s sewers wins my vote.

Or being a Tory MP.

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 24/02/2018 11:18

Hope you managed to get some nibbles from Waitrose in the end!

I avoid our local Waitrose like the plague. The car park's small and tight and everything in the shop is overpriced.

I prefer Tescos.

Allergictoironing · 24/02/2018 11:24

obese people can get jogging and dieting and lose weight. It would help the NHS out too.

Because all obese people are like that because they are lazy and don't exercise by choice. They NEVER have medical conditions that prevent them exercising do they? Hmm

Bluedoglead · 24/02/2018 11:27

Not all disabilities are visible and not all disabilities get a blue badge.

Seriously fed up that people don’t understand this.

TheFairyCaravan · 24/02/2018 11:28

How do all these women with pregnancy bumps manage at the hospital? Our hospital has no P&C spaces but it doesn’t stop people with children or bumps getting out of their cars.

Ollivander84 · 24/02/2018 11:29

Exactly what Blue said ^^
I have used a p&c space while I was waiting for surgery and needed food and a prescription. There were no closer spaces apart from blue badge ones which I couldn't use as no blue badge
I was waiting for urgent spinal surgery and picking up a prescription for pain relief

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 24/02/2018 11:30

It's time these P&C spaces were done away with, it really is. Supermarkets should just put a raft of wider spaces at the back of the car park so that anybody who needs a wider space has access to them.

More BB spaces - and perhaps some alongside for 'other disability' for those who need a close by space but can't legally park in BB spaces.

Jaygee61 · 24/02/2018 11:30

*obese people can get jogging and dieting and lose weight. It would help the NHS out too.

Or have medical conditions, or need to take medication, that cause weight gain?

expatinscotland · 24/02/2018 11:31

'I'm also amazed that some people would apparently not care.'

Nope, don't give a shiny fuck. In the grand scheme of things, it's minuscule. Personally wish retailers would stop offering these spaces entirely and put in more blue badge bays.

HotCrossBunFight · 24/02/2018 11:32

Seriously do not get the hatred for a feature designed to make things easier for people.
Bunch of nutters on here sometimes.

Sparklingbrook · 24/02/2018 11:32

There are no P&C spaces in my nearest town. Everyone manages to go about their business regardless.

Sirzy · 24/02/2018 11:33

Turn all p and c spaces into disabled spaces and then make it so anyone who gets any level of mobility pip/dla is automatically entitled to a blue badge. Much better use of the space!

WindyTriller · 24/02/2018 11:33

@beepthemeep I totally agree with your rage in this situation. But the comment about disabled people not being able to get in a low slung sports car is not true I'm afraid. A relative of mine was paralysed from the chest down in a motorbike accident around 20 years ago. He drives a very much low slung and sporty car with no issues.

AJPTaylor · 24/02/2018 11:35

Our local sainsbos has a whole section of wider spaces at the back of the car park as well as p and c spaces down the front

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 24/02/2018 11:36

It's at times like these when you think Fuck the Waitrose nibbles for my guests. I'm driving home and putting out some Pom Bears in plastic bowls. Let them judge.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 24/02/2018 11:36

I certainly don't hate the 'feature'. What an odd thing to say? I don't agree that it needs to be ringfenced for parents/children; in my view it doesn't. Non-BB disabilities should be getting priority over parents wanting 'special treatment'.

The spaces were a sop from the supermarkets, they're not a legal requirement but as they're there, they should be reallocated for non-BB/extra BB spaces only.

I know of a multi storey that has 'spaces for larger cars'. The spaces are all full of Fiesta sized cars. Hmm

DH says they are just spaces for people who can't park a large car.

Bluedoglead · 24/02/2018 11:38

I”m also overweight because steroids.... but on medical advice can’t exercise or run or weights or anything. So stuff that in your fucking pipe. And smoke it (I don’t, I also don’t drink because drugs. See post above)

ILostItInTheEarlyNineties · 24/02/2018 11:41

The world's gone mad Sparkling. I wouldn't be surprised if Spaces for people that have anxiety parking and lack spatial awareness becomes a thing.

Heated arguments and Cheeky Fucker accusations will ensue when a competent driver reverse parks in one of these in an entitled fashion.

Sparklingbrook · 24/02/2018 11:54

I think you are right ILost. Grin

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 24/02/2018 11:57

When possible I strategically place my trolley at their passenger door (just close enough without actually touching it) in the hope that they won’t notice and turn the wheel to reverse, thus hitting the trolley.

Well aren't you a delight Hmm
