WIBU re. GINGER hair?

I have ginger hair. Long, lustrous ginger hair.

Not auburn, or anything like that... it's ginger. GINGER.

Lovely long ginger tresses that shine like copper in the sun.

People actually gasp in awestruck admiration as I trot past, my long ginger hair flowing out behind me like a mane of fire.

So.

I was having a coffee with a friend the other day, when they said, apropos of nothing, 'Oh, you're hair's not really ginger, you know, it's.... [and i can barely bring myself to type the words].... STRAWBERRY BLONDE.'

So I killed them.

WIBU?

@Mrswoolly that would be thanks to some curling tongs and argan oil ... if not it would be a frizzy mess of curls

Using “strawberry blonde” is the way people with ginger hair try to pass the colour off as a shade of blonde.

Some people, I mean. Red hair of all hues is lovely, by the way.

I think of strawberry blonde as the blonde colour that has a sandy or pale orangey tinge- it'll come with the classic redhead skin colouring but the hair itself isn't really in the bona fide 'red' family.

DD No one is aloud to call it red or ginger.

@lashestans ha ha no .. it's only that vibrant in the sun... open blinds ... it goes more dull without sun light 😑 I come from a family full of redheads .. all different shades too ... my cousins son has bright orange hair.. it's absolutely amazing .. I've never seen a shade like it in my life... think of carrots .. it literally is that shade

I was gutted that I didn't have ginger bairns, ginger grandads and ginger husband still didn't mean ginger bairns. Sad times.

My hair, which I think is maybe more pleasingly auburn than the outrageous orangutan ginger that I was born with (both of my parents have red hair so I'm going to blame them). I get asked if it's natural a lot because I have dark eyebrows and eyelashes and hazel green eyes.

Extremely old photo of a hideous ten year old me gazing lovingly at a puppy is included to demonstrate veracity of hair colour for any doubters. I LOVED those red boots.

I didn't realise until this moment that some people thought strawberry blonde was an actual colour but distinct from ginger - I thought it was just a word that they used for ginger if they thought there was something wrong with the word ginger. But either way, don't ever call me the SB word.

I hate the term. Its RED hair. Ginger sounds so weak.

My baby boy has the most beautiful golden/red hair. Myself and his dad are both blonde so no idea where it came from but it's fabulous.

People should know never to tell a redhead that they don't think they are a redhead. Even if time has faded their hair colour (like it has mine). It's an identity issue, far more than any other hair colour.

Red, ginger, orange, whichever name you chose its absolutely gorgeous

It suits women better IMO, unless men grow a good red beard to go with it. Funny how many people say they like it

Often a beard and hair don’t match. Dad had black hair and his beard was brown gingery (not that he was ever permitted to grow one).

It's the same in Spain - NDN has a daughter with the most amazing red hair - very bright colour, and very thick and long. When they went to Spain on their hols Spanish people were stopping them to admire and touch it (her DD was okay with this - in fact, it boosted her confidence np end, as she got a lot of "ginger minger" hate at school.

I LOVE men with beards - well-trimmed or grizzlyadams-style - they are fabulous.
