I have ginger hair. Long, lustrous ginger hair.

Not auburn, or anything like that... it's ginger. GINGER.

Lovely long ginger tresses that shine like copper in the sun.

People actually gasp in awestruck admiration as I trot past, my long ginger hair flowing out behind me like a mane of fire.

So.

I was having a coffee with a friend the other day, when they said, apropos of nothing, 'Oh, you're hair's not really ginger, you know, it's.... [and i can barely bring myself to type the words].... STRAWBERRY BLONDE.'

So I killed them.

Seriously though what is the anti ginger thing all about? My sister is ginger and has horrible teasing (bullying?) through childhood in the seventies. Why?

I call my daughter ginger but think it’s strawberry blonde, is strawberry blonder just light ginger? I love her hair, she had gorgeous curls as a baby but they all dropped out, still beautiful though.

Sympathies with everyone else who has suffered the abuse of gingers that still seems to be totally acceptable. I had them all too, and also had "Fergie!!" In the 80s when Prince Andrew marriec..
But hey ho, it's not a "protected characteristic" so it's just a laugh, isn't it. .

I'm a non ginger but I have given birth to two of the most beautiful red haired children I've ever seen! Dd has fiery red hair down her back and ds is cuter than ed sheeran could ever be.
I never dreamed that I would have ginger kids but if anyone stands in their way or disses their gingerness, I too will kill them!

I desperately wanted my children to have red hair and thought that I'd cracked it when my youngest was greeted by the midwife with a cry of 'OOH HE'S GOT LOVELY RED HAIR LIKE HIS MUMMY' but it went awry and started to darken when he was about four and at nine he's officially all mousy brown blond like his brothers. Gutted.

My 5 year old DS has the most orange ginger hair I have ever seen. Today at the hairdressers a lady commented "ooh what lovely red hair". DS stood up and said "thanks, but it's ginger, GINGER!" He was outraged that someone could dare to call it red. He also buts a lovely blob of orange on top of his head in every picture he draws of himself!

I have red hair but choose to dye it very blonde. I like the colour on me and was never really happy as a red head probably due to all the comments growing up.

Now, I have to show people photos of when I was younger for them to even believe me as I have brown eyebrows.

My youngest niece has the loviest red curly hair and I hope she always loves it.

Mine’s darkened over the years - used to be very pale golden yellow as a child, now it’s reddish brown.

Hoping DS will have red hair - he still just has wispy bits so it’s hard to tell if they’re strawberry blond or mousy blond.

i had strawberry blonde hair, it was thick and down past my ass, i hated it, i wasnt allowed it cut, thick ugly orange stuff it was, once i turned 18 i cut it off to my ears and dyed it black :) that made me happy

lol Mrswoolly I can assure you it is ... you're not the first to say that though.. which is understandable.. I've not seen many with this colour .. sunlight makes it appear more vibrant

Natural red here!

I love my hair now & no grey!

I dyed my hair blonde a couple of years ago.
I missed the red so much & I took for granted what I had. It took some work to get back to where it is now but I now love it!

We're only 2% of the population guys. Clearly special!
