To ask dog owners at the beach why you don’t

pick up plastic litter ?

I run along a beautiful coastline and see the same dog walkers ignoring the plastic.

You have a bag ready and will walk past a bin. AIBU to think that this would be a help to the environment ?

I am not sure of the logic there. Are the dog walkers dropping the plastic?

kaytee87 · 06/02/2018 15:14

Why just dog walkers?

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2018 15:15

Because the dog walkers are going to walk past a bin? But a dog poo bin presumably.

I'm guessing runners don't tend to break their stride.

TheQueenOfWands · 06/02/2018 15:17

You could pick it up.

Take a bin bag with you on your run.

PilarTernera · 06/02/2018 15:17

Why is it the dog walkers responsibility more than anyone else who uses the beach?

OlympicBonfire · 06/02/2018 15:18

Why not ask everyone who walks on the beach to pick up litter? Why just dog walkers? Everyone could take a bag with them regardless of whether they have a dog or not

YABU

HuskyMcClusky · 06/02/2018 15:18

Huh? There’s no guarantee I’ll be walking past a bin any more than you will! What a weird post.

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2018 15:19

I think most of us will walk past a bin at some point.

Possibly Pengggwn but I was referring to the OP saying You have a bag ready and will walk past a bin. Hmm

Greensleeves · 06/02/2018 15:19

Husky, if your dog shits, presumably you'll be needing a bin?

Coloursthatweremyjoy · 06/02/2018 15:20

You pick it up.

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 06/02/2018 15:20

I'd be happy if all the dog walkers just picked up their own dog's poo...

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2018 15:20

But there are bins and dog poo bins aren't there? I live in the landlocked Midlands though is it different in coastal areas?

babyccinoo · 06/02/2018 15:21

I think we can safely know that OP does pick up plastic.

RadioGaGoo · 06/02/2018 15:21

I'm guessing the OP is suggesting dog walkers because they are more likely to regularly walk. If I had a dog and walked near the beach, I'd would probably do what the OP suggests. I wouldn't have thought of it otherwise.

RatherBeRiding · 06/02/2018 15:21

Perhaps the dog walkers wonder by the runners or walkers don't pick up the litter?

We all have hands.

HuskyMcClusky · 06/02/2018 15:22

Husky, if your dog shits, presumably you'll be needing a bin?

Yes, of course. But she often doesn’t, as we’ve usually walked to the beach (and she’s pooed on the way).

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2018 15:22

I wouldn't want to juggle a bag of dog poo, a dog on a lead and be doing litter picking on the beach TBF.

I thought people did organised litter picks.

meredintofpandiculation · 06/02/2018 15:23

But there are bins and dog poo bins aren't there? Not round here. Dog poo now goes in with general waste.

TSSDNCOP · 06/02/2018 15:23

Have you seen the size of a dog poo bag?

It is poo sized. It is not going to hold poo, plus a beach load of crap I didn’t drop.

Sparklingbrook · 06/02/2018 15:23

OMG you can't ask runners to do anything, you can't even ask them for directions according to some on here.

greendale17 · 06/02/2018 15:23

Dog poo bags are pretty small. Most wouldn’t fit a plastic bottle
