To think sharing a bed with DS is weird

DS is 12 (13 is a couple of months) not a toddler. We co slept until he was 5 ish. When he was poorly, scared etc he used to get in my bed. But not for a couple of years. He’s got tonsillitis and is in pain and miserable. He’s just asked to get in my bed and i’ve said no he’s too old. Now I feel a bit sad that i’m the one making it weird. But what do others do? (so as not to drip feed, i’m a single parent)

I bet these are the future MILs who feel compelled to go into their married sons' bedrooms so they can see how they sleep

Why try and make something perfectly normal into something tawdry because you don’t understand it.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 04/02/2018 18:48

That's a nice thing to say wild

Primarkismyonlyoption · 04/02/2018 19:07

Im not jacques. Was being lighthearted based on another thread hence the grin. Also feel like someone doesnt need to apologise for hqving a different view is all.

JacquesHammer · 04/02/2018 19:09

@Primark - my apologies

Primarkismyonlyoption · 04/02/2018 19:11

No worries Jacques

Allthewaves · 04/02/2018 19:22

Op I don't like kids.in my bed (or anyone else). I tend to camp out on the sofa with them when mine are ill

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 04/02/2018 19:25

I'd do it with DD 10, but there wouldn't be room for 3 of us. 😭

Lweji · 04/02/2018 19:27

@Primark

Even if meant lighthearted it was a nasty comment.
You should be apologising.

Primarkismyonlyoption · 04/02/2018 20:26

Get a grip lewji

KalaLaka · 04/02/2018 20:35

@JustHereForThePooStories

That's actually lovely. Must have been horrible for you, but so lovely to have that attachment as an adult.

JustHereForThePooStories · 04/02/2018 21:15

@KalaLaka

It was lovely. You know when you’re so sick you just feel like lying down and dying? It’s so much nicer when you have an attentive mother making sure you don’t choke on your own vomit while the ambulance gets there!

DankAShan · 04/02/2018 21:27

It makes me very sad that you should feel the need that ask if it's weird.

rcit · 04/02/2018 21:31

Never too old. My mum went and slept in my brother’s bed with him when he was 18 because he had an operation and was frightened.

bobstersmum · 04/02/2018 21:46

Ahhhh poor kid, let him in

tiredandgrumpy101 · 04/02/2018 22:24

My son is 15 recently he was very poorly, I thought nothing of jumping in to his double bed & staying with him in the night, call him back & give Gina cuddle xxxx hope he's feeling better soon xxx

IAmMumWho · 05/02/2018 09:05

Aww poor love. He probably just wants love, nurture all the way no matter
