Just that really.

OP posts:
NoqontroI · 29/01/2018 14:45

Yes. Easily.

Fleetwoodmac2 · 29/01/2018 14:46

I did!

Stormwhale · 29/01/2018 14:46

Yep. It took me a week to get used to it, then I actually found I preferred it.

Domino20 · 29/01/2018 14:46

Yes. No problem.

MissionItsPossible · 29/01/2018 14:46

Yes. I was on about ten a day and thought there's no way this thing is going to stop me smoking. But it did. You'll love it. Invest in one though don't buy a cheap one

HollyBayTree · 29/01/2018 14:47

Why would you want to vape? It's worse than cigarettes. Not only will you get heart disease, you'll also get popcorn lung.

Guardsman18 · 29/01/2018 14:49

Thanks for positive replies!

Which one should I buy though? Should I try them out in a shop or can you recommend 'the best'?

How is vaping worse than cigarettes?

OP posts:
NotACleverName · 29/01/2018 14:51

I have an Aspire PockeX, OP. Relatively inexpensive and gives a decent hit.

Brazenhussy0 · 29/01/2018 14:52

How is vaping worse than cigarettes?

It's not. HollyBay is talking nonsense.

You absolutely can give up with vaping, but it'll take some getting used to! Good luck :)

NoqontroI · 29/01/2018 14:52

I got an itaste pro from Amazon. I've tried loads of them but the thin pencil ones just weren't good enough or they would die quite quickly. I've given up the fags for 3.5 years now so it's definitely done the trick. I've got loads more energy and can breathe a lot better.

Bluelady · 29/01/2018 14:52

Absolutely you can do it. I did. Vaping is loads better than fags, anyone who says otherwise is an idiot. Try a vape shop and ask for advice.

NoqontroI · 29/01/2018 14:53

How is vaping worse than cigarettes?

It's not. Granted neither are perfect but vaping definitely better than smoking.

FurryDogMother · 29/01/2018 14:55

Vaping is - according to Public Health England - 95% safer than smoking, and popcorn lung is linked to diacetyl, a flavouring ingredient which is not now used in vaping liquids. Nicotine (although addictive) is no more dangerous than caffeine - it's the other ingredients in tobacco smoke and cigarettes that will harm you. Please ignore the ill-informed post above - I wish people would research a little before making incorrect statements.

Yes, you can go from smoking 20 a day to vaping - I've done it. There are vaping topics over on the Stop Smoking board where you could ask questions, and get answers from people who actually know what they're talking about :)

Stormwhale · 29/01/2018 14:55

Please ignore hollybaytree as they are talking out of their arse. The most recent scientific research has come back stating that vaping is much safer than cigarettes and the fears about popcorn lung are unfounded.

If I were you op I would go to a vaping shop and get set up with a decent kit. I would expect to pay around £80-100 and would definitely avoid the ones that look like a pen. Get a decent box mod and tank as you will get a more satisfying experience and be less likely to go back to fags.

LadyRivers1 · 29/01/2018 14:56

Yup I've done it! Wouldn't go back now.

BlackPeppercorn · 29/01/2018 14:57

I was on 30 a day. And had been for over 30 years. Never used another cigarette. 2.5 yrs now.
I use an Aspire Mini Nautilus tank with an iStick 20w battery. Started on 18mg liquid, now down at 3mg liquid. Health much much better. Purse better by about £60 a week.
G'wan!

HollyBayTree · 29/01/2018 15:00

It's not. HollyBay is talking nonsense.

HollyBays husband just came out of ICU after 8 weeks after a massive coronary and his consultant said vapes were far worse tahn cigarettes.

Clearly a consultant with 30+years of experience knows jack shit and should be getting all his medical advice from an armchair KIA.

makingmiracles · 29/01/2018 15:01

Definately. My mum gave up after being hospitalised in november, before hospital she was 40+ a day smoker, superking size cigarettes.

She bought a halo ecig(a very basic form of vape that looks like a real cigarette) and hasn’t smoked since beginning of November, so yes, it def is possible and you don’t necessarily need to spend £££ on a newfangled mood/tank etc setup.

makingmiracles · 29/01/2018 15:04

@stormwhale how about including a link to the latest scientific research that shows vaping does not cause lung problems to back up your statement

Keepithidden · 29/01/2018 15:04

Consultant needs to check their facts. It's poor advice considering the research available.

NotACleverName · 29/01/2018 15:05

his consultant said vapes were far worse tahn cigarettes

Where did his consultant get his degree, The University of Google?

BifsWif · 29/01/2018 15:05

I would be questioning anyone, consultant or not, who makes a statement like that with no research or evidence to back it up.

HollyBayTree · 29/01/2018 15:06

I think I'll take the leading consultant on heart disease in the UK at the premier cardiac teaching hospital advice over a few armchair googlers with selective sources, if that's all the same to you guys.

Youshallnotpass · 29/01/2018 15:08

Then HollyBays, your consultant is talking bollocks then. 30+ years of experience means jack when Vaping hasn't even been around that long.

honeyroar · 29/01/2018 15:08

Why not just give up? I know it's not easy, but it's perfectly doable. I think those vape things smell strange, I'm glad they weren't an option when I gave up smoking! I know someone who constantly congratulates himself for having given up smoking, yet he vapes constantly, to me he still smokes and is an addict, just to something different.
