To ask what car you have and whether you like it?

Following on from my previous thread about haggling (which I'm utterly rubbish at - point proven today upon purchase of car), what car do you have, what year is it, and do you like it?

I had absolutely no interest in cars until about three years ago, and now I love reading about them, finding out what's reliable, what's good value, what's fun to drive, etc.

Please indulge me on a quiet Saturday eve Smile

Hyundai ix35. It’s a godsend space wise for the kids and all their stuff, has a very impressive safety rating. Drives like a dream and have never had any major problems with it. Would recommend x1000!

I have a two year old BMW X3 and love it. My previous car was a Juke which was cute, but we reached the point where it was too small for carting about cricket, rugby and football gear plus a dog and the enormous DCs and their giant friends.

It still feels 'special' to drive whenever I get in it, despite DH's protestations that "you'll hate it after a month, it's much too big for you".

NorthernLurker · 06/01/2018 18:37

Grand Picasso (can have 7 seats) yes we love it. Huge and comfy

Spartaca · 06/01/2018 18:37

Renault kadjar. Tiny bit tight across the back for 3 car seats, but as we are only all in the car at weekends it doesn't matter. Nice to drive, very economical and lots of gadgets as standard. Very good deal on pcp too

blackteasplease · 06/01/2018 18:38

Small VW Up. Love it. Live in London and small car is much better.

ClementineWardrobe · 06/01/2018 18:39

Toyota Auris Touring Sports. 3 years old, love it especially the heated front seats and tiny turning circle. Dogs in boot in a safedog double crate. Love it.

LottieandSeth · 06/01/2018 18:40

Convertible VW Beetle. I love it and it's the first car I ever bought myself (age 44)

HereBeFuckery · 06/01/2018 18:41

Dull, but a Ford Focus Zetec. 1.6l, auto, petrol. It's super reliable, economic to run and easy to drive and park. Only slight thing is that I find the windscreen pillar side thingies a bit in the way occasionally when I'm manoeuvring.

Sirzy · 06/01/2018 18:41

Vauxhall Corsa, 2014. Lovely little car that does everything I need.

Firesuit · 06/01/2018 18:42

I have a medium-spec Golf. I like it. It seems minimal without being parsimonious. I look at other cars and there always seems to be some respect in which they are excessive without the excess making them better.

(It would be too small for some families though. The boot isn't that big. But as it's empty 90% of the time, I wouldn't prefer carrying a larger amount of empty space around.)

SleepingBooty · 06/01/2018 18:42

I love my old Merc. Its automatic, a proper old mans car but it's a cinch to drive and so comfy.

ShinyBadger · 06/01/2018 18:43

Audi A3 .... great drive and so comfy! But just not big enough for me .... I’m looking for a bigger one.... thinking maybe a Kuga, can’t afford a Q5 :(

spanieleyes · 06/01/2018 18:43

Chevrolet Orlando, it's huge-like driving a tank, but I like it!

deviceNotRecognized · 06/01/2018 18:44

BMW M6 - awesome.

Range Rover (Autobiography)

9-year-old VW Golf GTi

Very old SWB Land Rover with winches, working lights, winch etc.

Crumbs1 · 06/01/2018 18:44

I had a golf which I adored but have just traded it in for a new Skoda Octavia estate which I love even more. It’s fabulous to drive, fast, good roadholding, nippy. Not too big but the beast can go in the boot.

Paddingtonthebear · 06/01/2018 18:44

7yr old VW Golf, mid range I think, we like it, it’s lovely to drive

BarbaraOcumbungles · 06/01/2018 18:44

Skoda yeti which is my second yeti and 5th Skoda.

Never had a seconds problem with any of them.

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 06/01/2018 18:45

Skoda Octavia

More bang for your buck

Loads of extras for minimal cost

I love it

TentUpFirstBunkUpLater · 06/01/2018 18:45

Its my third one

Rebeccaslicker · 06/01/2018 18:48

I had an SLK that I loved, it had a 3 litre turbo engine and it was a dream to drive. Then we had DD, so I had to be sensible and get a Q3! Just treated myself to a TT which I ordered last weekend, so we'll have one sensible and one pointless frivolous fun car Smile

cocopops88 · 06/01/2018 18:49

Nissan pathfinder which is great for towing (630 twin axel caravan or horse trailer) and a Mondeo estate. We have to fit a buggy and a Deerhound in the boot so both boots have dog guards and dividers to halve the boot. Couldn't really get away with less space!

lanbro · 06/01/2018 18:50

Automatic 2l Astra with whistles and bells. 14 plate with 14k miles on the clock, lovely drive and heated seats fab at this time of year. Doing first proper long motorway drive in it next weekend and looking forward to it!

IKnewTheStorm · 06/01/2018 18:50

BMW 4-Series. Awesome to drive and sporty looking. Quite a bad blind spot on the drivers side though.

ManchesterGin · 06/01/2018 18:51

VW tiguan. I like it but DH says it's too small on the odd occasion he drives it Hmm

BikeRunSki · 06/01/2018 18:53

Golf Estate TDI.
Not too big, not too small.
Enough boot space for everything I keep in there for work, plus all the cricket/cycling/Cubs/music stuff the dc need.
Appears to run off flower farts.
